Default The Amazing/Spectacular Mayday Parker Appreciation Thread 2019

The first born of Peter and Mary Jane, and star of the longest running female solo Spider-Title, Mayday Parker is bouncing back lately with her stories being collected in new essential volumes and appearing in Spidergeddon where she met her alternate world sibling Annie. At the end of the event, we were teased with Mayday's life returning to normal as her father is ressurected.

What does 2019 hold for Mayday? Well, on top of a second volume of her trade coming out, a new CBR article popped up with reasons why she should be in a Spider-Verse follow up!

Mayday makes a brief appearance in Ghost Spider#4, which deals largely with the aftermath of Spidergeddon#5

    spoilers:
It doesn't seem Mayday is aware her father is back from the dead, as she does not bring it up in conversation with Gwen, she makes reference to wanting to go back home to watch her brother sleep
    end of spoilers

Actually, on re-reading the issue, spoilers:
I think Mayday hadn't yet come home yet, the story is told in flashback, which is why she hasn't reacted to Peter's ressurection
    end of spoilers

MC2 line featured in Newsarama's "13 Defunct Marvel Publishing Lines" article (looks like it's an update from when it was last published in 2015)

The little imprint that could, MC2 started out as a one-off What If? that proved popular enough to carry not just one title (Spider-Girl), but a whole raft of books offering the look at a possible future Marvel Universe. Even when the line faded, Spider-Girl lived on in various incarnations for some time -- as well as in many fans' hearts to this day.

Signature Book: There's no competition: Tom DeFalco and Ron Frenz' Spider-Girl, all the way.

Lasting Legacy:Spider-Girl's continued success was a testimony to fan activism, with the title simply refusing to die on more than one occasion thanks to the outpouring of support the book enjoyed. While the title may be off the shelves currently, the example it provided of a publisher listening to its fan base will live on for some time..

    Spider-Girl (May Parker)
The daughter of an alternate universe Peter Parker, May Parker inherited many of her father’s superhuman abilities, such as his strength, speed, and spider sense. May also adopted her father’s penchant for heroics and applied her skills to saving those in need. May reunited with the original Peter Parker to save the day in the huge Spider-Verse event.

At the time the recap was written, the idea Mayday had been abducted was still very much in play, and the What If was supposed to be if MJ hadn't lost Mayday, but then they retconned it soon to be the continuity where she was abducted and recovered (as was DeFalco's intention in 616)
