Default The Dark Knight Returns Universe (and reading order) help.

Is the following the correct order?

    - Batman: Year One

    - All Star Batman and Robin

    - Spawn/Batman

    - The Last Crusade

    - The Dark Knight Returns

    - The Dark Knight Strikes Back

    - DK 3: Master Race

    Am I missing anything?

Further more, is it worth it? I've read terrible things about All Star Batman and DK Strikes Back.

Should I just be content with rereading Year One and DKR if I'm in the mood for Miller Batman?

Broadly, I think the order is fine. There's a new one-shot set after Master Race coming up. And Superman Year One can be slotted before or during Batman Year One.

Thank you for the additional books I missed.

Again, is it worth it? Are All Star and Strikes Back really so bad?

ASBAR is hilarious, go read it. Strikes Back has some of the worst art ever, so only try it if you can stomach that. Last Crusade is actually good. Master Race is ok.

You are missing the end: Dark Knight Returns: The Last Crusade

It's clearly listed right before DKR...and that book isn't near the end of the Miller continuity.

I missed it sorry. Because it is supose to come after DK3. So yes, at the end.

It doesn't take place after DK3 though, it's very clearly a prequel to DKR....so in the middle, not the end.

    My order:

    Batman: Year One

Superman: Year One/All Star Batman and Robin The Boy Wonder - to me, they are parallel rather than part of the same timestream. Superman Year One feels very similar to ASBAR, but I have a difficult time actually trying to make all the first meetings in Superman Year One work with the relationships as established in ASBAR. Also, Superman Year One, while not perfect, is WAY better than ASBAR.

    Never read Spawn/Batman, so I can't comment.

The Last Crusade - it was written during the publication of Dark Knight: Master Race, but you are correct that it happens here, before DKR

    Dark Knight Returns

Dark Knight Strikes Again (I've read this once, and it hurt. I would not recommend.)

    Dark Knight: Master Race

Dark Knight Returns: The Golden Child (one shot, forthcoming in December)

There's also a young adult aimed Carrie Kelley project written by Miller and drawn by Ben Caldwell - we don't have a solicitation for it, but Caldwell recently tweeted some work and progress updates on it.
