This will make Namor join
So, a couple questions for discussion...
1) Do you think this is actually happening? Will Hickman/Marvel actually show it or will it only be left ambiguous for reader's imaginations? Maybe not even hinted at much anymore?
2) What would be happening exactly? Are Jean and Scott together but on an open relationship where they can do Logan/Emma on the side? Or is it like a full-on throuple or... Idk what with 4 is called? Or are neither of them on an official relationship just doing whatever?
3) Do you think Marvel would ever allow, even imply same-sex stuff to it? Aka Scott/Logan or even Jean/Emma?
1. I mentioned this in the review thread, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was never made explicit, because of decisions coming down from higher up, and thus ignored by future writers.
2. Full on polycule from the looks of it
3. Given Marvel's track record, I doubt it. But I think there will be some healthy subtext from some writers.
1. We'll probably be shown Scott/Jean, Scott/Emma and Jean/Logan acting coupley when the story calls for it. Its a story opportunity theres no point in not mining it for maximum drama.
2. It seems Scott and Jean are in an open relationship. We dont know yet how it was set up or what the rules of said relationship are but we'll probably learn more in the coming months.
3. It will probably be teased but not outright shown. Logan hugging Scott, Scott longingly watching as Logan is dying, calling him the bravest man he knows, completely ignoring Nightcrawler whos literally burning alive before his eyes at this point. Telling Corsair hes surrounded by people he loves. Id say theyre already hinting at it. Jean bringing beer to Emma was subtle. But we'll probably get more.
Everyone coming to Krakoa to resolve their love triangles, from other planets and universes.
Moira realizes that the solution was always sex.
1) I think it’s actually happening, but won’t be shown how we think it will. I think it’s gonna exist as a story device to explore relationships without having to deal with jealousy or hurt feelings.
2) From Sinister Secret #5 (which aside from Hickman meta, in-universe are Sinister’s observations on Krakoa), it’s said that this is the new normal on Krakoa. I assume that even though we may not see it beyond the love rectangle/octagon, monogamy is not the norm anymore on Krakoa. Hell, Scott and Jean may not even be married anymore. I’d love to actually read a story about Krakoan views on marriage but I feel it wouldn’t go far without addressing the elephant in the room and that’ll be where Marvel steps in.
3) HA, no. Imply, yeah. The wording of Secret #5 did imply Scogan and Hickman posted that meme with Emma, but I think the most we’re gonna get are more subtleties. It sucks that Hickman is in the same position as Claremont and has to resort to implications and winks at the camera instead of getting to fully go all out with it. I find it insane that the X-Men can have a resurrection machine or drugs that cure illnesses but still aren’t allowed to be sexually fluid.
Why do I get the feeling that some of the X-fans here are responsible for some of the X-Men pornography I occasionally come across on the interwebs? What if Marvel decided one day that the mutants were now asexual, would you still support the books?
Jokes apart we hardly go beyond Jean / Scott, Logan / Jean or Emma / Scott. Maybe we have Storm / Logan in this mix but I find it hard and some refer to other couples but nothing explicit.
I have no problem with that the characters are all adults and human laws and culture do not necessarily have to be the general rule for mutants but I highly doubt that it will become a rule for most characters.
Yeah, I agree with most people that Marvel won't go too far into it, and that they're keeping it straight.
It's probably gonna be like "This is super normal in Krakoa... Most of the X-Men aren't doing it but just imagine that all the background characters in Krakoa are, thanks".
I'm only on Powers of X 3 what the hell is going on here? OMG!
