From what I understood : Jor-El was a living temporal anomaly, who compounded on it when he searched for Jon, possibly going back to the past in this quest. He also was a part of the Circle and it's implied he created or at least tweaked with Rogol's genetics to create him (potentially linking him to the Worldkillers of New 52's Supergil? I think there always was a missing fifth).

Yeah that's still the biggest load of bullshit I have to call when it comes to how Bendis handled the whole Jor El thing. Like...after everything he had done, and after he and Clark did not part on friendly terms...why on Earth would he have given Jor El his wife and son?

I still think, if they just had to do this, either Jor El should have straight up kidnapped Jon or Jon should have been left without telling his parents. Maybe sneak out after initially being told "no".

Pretty sure his crimes include galactic conspiracy, interfering with a planet's natural evolution, possibly genocide (the Circle did cull a few planets right? That's where Rogal Zaar got the idea isn't it? I don't totally remember), manipulating the timeline, possibly war profiteering. And didn't he manipulate at least one war between different races? And all of that is, as far as I know, outside of whatever Manhattan made him do.

Jor-El has always been an extremist; always pushed against the rules and limits of his culture and people. This is just all that, taken to a ridiculous extreme.

I'm glad Jor's back where he belongs. Johns never should have pulled this stunt in the first place.

They never got specific about what exactly Jor-El had done. I got the impression that the whole Rogal Zharr/Jor-El/Circle subplot was meant to be far more prominent, but the muted to hostile reader reaction to it prompted Bendis to shelf those ideas as quickly as possible, so he could move on to something that readers might connect with better. I understand what Bendis was going for, but it just didn't work, so I give him credit for wrapping the whole thing up as neatly as he could, rather than dragging it out further when few readers seemed all that interested in it.

I believe his crime is being a super-hero's cool, nice, hopeful, sciencey-doctor, and very dead dad. Which is why Manhattan had to ruin him by saving him from his demise and making him not cool, not nice, not hopeful, and quite alive. See also; Thomas Wayne. Zeus. Barry's dead has been in jail for a long time now for some reason.

Aquaman's dad was genuinely cool, though. Cool dude. Real cool dude.
