My best friend from back east (he now lives in SC) works at an Aldi, and they have a temporary $2 per hour raise for the duration of the crisis. I can't say anything about other grocery stores, but I do know about that one.

Obama was able to do this because he's not running as a socialist and hasn't got multiple incidents in the past defending Communist countries during the Cold War, everyone knows he's a capitalist - that's what protects him. That's credibility Sanders hasn't got. We've tried to tell you this. Sanders candidacy lives and dies on the party's approval, and by "party" I mean Democratic voters.

Reducing circumstances of Biden's support, and I use that term loosely, to a black and white binary state that blurs the line between the two. You know what a compromise candidate is and many here, including me, would have prefer someone else winning. Since Biden won we're stuck with him as the nominee. I don't appreciate how you ignored how I've said I was ok with investigating those claims against Biden in prior posts. You don't think what Turner did for the Trump supporter was corruption?

The link was for lurkers, I don't hold any optimism any link would "satisfy" you.

We both know the party of Donald J Trump isn't going to embrace a Communist sympathiser - that's how they view Sanders.
The Soviet Union doesn't exist anymore. Russia is not a Dictatorship simply because of their political sham of system. So on paper no, But an Authoritarian Government? Yes.
    Cuba is a Dicatorship.

Stop protecting Obama, just admit he said the same shit. Full stop.

Biden actually hasn't won yet, please stop saying that. He's PRESUMPTIVE people haven't voted in other states yet. Let them speak.

I didn't ignore what YOU said.

I don't trust reporting by that guy sorry, nor Tommy the hat. There are links that would "satisfy" me. I post from the Politico at times. But Politico is on record slandering and shitting on Bernie cosistently.
But if you go and research Edward Isaac Dovere and is feelings on Sanders, he can slant anything he writes in a negative light.

Here's an Example of his "Stellar" "reporting

Basically the person who writes the article matters, because Journalistic integrity isn't a thing anymore. It's about Tribes now. He's part of that Establishment Tribe.

Also, Tezlyn was NOT a Trump supporter, You don't have to be a Trump supporter to have a shitty stance on Immigration, where did she say she supported Trump?
You want a more fair article. Here's one from Buzzfeed. Nina did not defend her, she made a bad call in retaining her. There's a difference.
But are we supposed to never forgive people when they say something we don't like, or is Cancel Culture the way forward?

An Our Revolution Staffer Fired For “Anti-Immigrant” Remarks Is Suing The Pro-Bernie Group For Racial Discrimination
Tezlyn Figaro, who worked on black outreach for the Sanders group, was fired last spring after a public rift with Latinx colleagues over her comments about immigrants.

Basically when it comes to Sanders, I don't trust Politico or the Washington post.

That's also the only thing they have on him He's a democratic Socialist. He's NOT a Communist sympathizer, where's your proof that he is?

    Russia Russia Russia lol.

Tara should be believed until it's proven that she is lying. Investigate her and the claims. We can't only believe women when they hurt the other guy. She also came out in the 90's.

Your number 3 is why women don't like coming forward. Because it's a sexist trope to use "Timing" to discredit a woman's story.

Kavanaugh was hardly suitable for the high court and displayed a temperament unbecoming a supreme court justice. I have little difficulty believing that he did the things that were claimed he did. Men, especially men of power, often think they're entitled to women's bodies and personal space.

Which, of course, brings us to Biden. Biden too has acted in ways that show an entitlement to women's bodies and their personal space, and he's absolutely made more than one woman uncomfortable with that. We know that these things can stay /very buried/, as the very Republican speaker of the house that we don't like to talk about was an actual rapist and serial sexual abuser of children. And it stayed buried. For years. If Biden is what she says he is, others will come forward. There's never merely /one/ victim. There are /always/ more for men in these positions because the consequences don't get applied.

These kind of attacks will be the norm for Democratic politicians because they know we expect better from our candidates and hope to make us unwilling to hold our noses and vote for them while they run Actual Rapist Donald Trump. The Republicans will never expect better of their own because they don't actually care. They never cared about Juanita Broderick or Paula Jones, in actuality, given what we know of the litany of characters involved in Clinton's impeachment, and I doubt many of them and at least some of Bernie's supporters give one shit about Tara Reade beyond what she can do to Biden's campaign in a last ditch effort to sink him and land Bernie the nomination they think he deserves.

She's made the accusation. It deserves to be heard and litigated, carefully, because bad actors absolutely will take the ball she's giving them and run with it as far as they'll be allowed to.
This is all we ask. Let her be heard and vetted as if this was any other case, but we both know power protects power.

This is yet another reason why I'm leaving the party. They don't care about us on the ground at all.
WHY are we continuing to help big business? OH! These are Democratic donor states, that's why.
No, I despise the GOP, but on this SOME are right.

Pelosi floats undoing SALT deduction cap in next coronavirus bill

But most Republicans support the SALT deduction cap, arguing that it helps to prevent the tax code from subsidizing higher state taxes.

GOP lawmakers and tax-policy experts across the ideological spectrum criticized Pelosi's idea late Monday, arguing that repealing the SALT deduction cap would largely benefit high-income taxpayers.

“This is a nonstarter," a spokesperson for Senate Finance Committee Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) said. "Millionaires don’t need a new tax break as the federal government spends trillions of dollars to fight a pandemic.”

Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) said that "restoring the SALT deduction, as Speaker Pelosi advocated, would once again force low and middle income people to subsidize wealthy individuals in high tax states and municipalities — like the Speaker’s home in San Francisco, California.”

Pelosi spokesman Henry Connelly said in a statement to The Hill that "action on SALT would be tailored to focus the benefits on middle class earners and include limitations on the high-end."

Nancy Pelosi's idea to retroactively lift the limit on state and local tax deductions would be almost useless for people who need the most help

Does it make me a Sympathizer because I like their Single Payer system? Or that Cuba came up with treatments for a couple cancers?
How about Russia? If I like Their Transportation system and Medical system?

Who are these supporters you speak of? Methinks you are trolling.
Nina despises the Democratic party as I do then. I want the party to do better some of you don't. If that is despising then a lot of Independents like me Despise the party.
I don't care about tribalism, tribalism gave us Trump because the Democratic party wants conservatives and shits on their left base. They take corrupt money and brines, and let in racists like Bloomberg.
They let people who ACTUALLY sabotage the party like Manchin and DESPISE Sanders for wanting to actually help people. Yeah, I despise the Democratic party too.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, they can kiss my black ass. I don't vote for letters, I vote for policy.
I think Sanders probably would have a better shot if he had run as a Republican.
My question about how you like in politics was in the context of a discussion about who Biden should choose as a running mate.

It's perfectly fine for you to say that you like some political figures who are constitutionally inelligible to serve, or unlikely to seek national office for other reasons (primarily age.)

Living somewhere doesn't really make you a foreign agent, except in the eyes of some paranoid folk. But certain elements of someone's background can make a person's political views more suspect.

If someone went to Liberty University and had standard Republican views, it would be easier to see him as a bible-thumper. A Liberty University grad who became a Democrat would be seen as more independent.

He seems like he is probably the best surrogate when it comes to that Biden might wind up being an issue.
Looking at who fits Biden's message is an interesting approach. I take it you don't see unity picks as particularly helpful.

    It'll be an open primary.

There are a lot of unknowns. If Biden's Vice President is an African-American woman (Stacey Abrams, Val Demings, Terri Sewell) that likely doesn't leave an opening for Booker or Harris. In any situation, a reasonably popular female Vice President could very well be an overwhelming favorite for the nomination.

Due to his background (a stint in the cabinet as HHS secretary, three-term Governor of New York) Cuomo might end up being her running mate. He's a good fit for most plausible Biden Veeps (the main exception would be Elizabeth Warren.)

It's a different scenario if Biden loses. Then it's more of a free for all. Cuomo might be strong as a proven national leader, although he might be seen as too similar to Hillary and Biden.

I could definitely see the party wanting change candidates.

Exclusive: Captain of aircraft carrier with growing coronavirus outbreak pleads for help from Navy

The captain of a nuclear aircraft carrier with more than 100 sailors infected with the coronavirus pleaded Monday with U.S. Navy officials for resources to allow isolation of his entire crew and avoid possible deaths in a situation he described as quickly deteriorating.
The unusual plea from Capt. Brett Crozier, a Santa Rosa native, came in a letter obtained exclusively by The Chronicle and confirmed by a senior officer on board the aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt, which has been docked in Guam following a COVID-19 outbreak among the crew of more than 4,000 less than a week ago.

“This will require a political solution but it is the right thing to do,” Crozier wrote. “We are not at war. Sailors do not need to die. If we do not act now, we are failing to properly take care of our most trusted asset — our Sailors.”

In the four-page letter to senior military officials, Crozier said only a small contingent of infected sailors have been off-boarded. Most of the crew remain aboard the ship, where following official guidelines for 14-day quarantines and social distancing is impossible.

Honestly if I was Biden, I wouldn’t nominate someone under the guise of a progressive olive branch. That requires a concession on his end to make it meaningful that I don’t think his camp is committed to making.

He’s better off trying to play the cards he’s dealt at this point. Go Whitmer. She’s a woman, she shores up a must win swing state, she’s attractive so she’ll play well with the shallow American electorate, she’s a Midwesterner, she can campaign on Trump’s covid response which I think will be a hurdle for Biden to do himself.
As had been noted quite a few times, AOC can't be on the ticket due to her age.

But even if it were possible, it would likely not go over well with the center. She won a primary in a progressive district. There's no indication she would do well with swing voters in Michigan, Arizona or Florida.

It's Biden's third time running. And it is different to run as a former Vice President than as one of several senators.

There are a lot of voters looking for a return to normal, which is a good message to Biden.

Last time, he ran voters were looking for change, and that wasn't a great message for an old white guy who had been in the Senate for decades.

I still have yet to see actual data demonstrating that progressives would somehow perform better with a more Conservative overall voting bloc in the general election than they have in a far more liberal bloc within the Democratic Party. I know a lot of people feel a certain way, but I need the data to prove it. If there isn’t sufficient data, I’m just not willing to risk this election on a feeling. Obama won twice with a majority (not just a plurality) of the popular vote—one of only four presidents to do so since World War II. Running a candidate like him seems to be the one that will win elections right now. The second we get someone like AOC out of a district like the one Katie Hill represented, you’ll have my attention.

I was in the Navy for twenty years, half of that spent on ships, and I can tell you from experience that social isolation on ships with cramped living and work spaces is flat out impossible, and even worse on submarines. I’m concerned that an outbreak could spread throughout the fleet, and spread quickly if it’s not controlled.
