Nobody asks how they pay for the massive tax cuts to the rich and corporations got under Reagan,Bush and Trump. Or the bloated military.

These two things are the main causes for our deficits.

As for healthcare. Explain how every modern country can provide healthcare to every citizen better and cheaper and we can't.


We can go the way of Western Europe, or go the way of the Soviet Union. Next election will decide.

I feel that everyone here knows that Republicans are the ones standing in the way of progress on these issues.

The question still remains regarding how to sell those policies to a public that has shown little desire to vote for them in the past.

Republicans literally made repealing affordable health care their mantra, and still won the election.

They also took back the House, the Senate, and then the White House after constantly attacking Obama on spending.

Repealing Obamacare has, I believe, been removed from Trump's campaign web sites. They realized it's a toxic issue.

Because the dirty little secret is they just want the courts to kill it and then not address it. You make these things stick like they do in Europe or with Social Security here. You make it too popular for anyone to publicly run against it. The problem with the ACA was it was always meant to be expanded but it wasn't and then they were able to chip away at it. So even when the people that desperately needed it, had it, it just wasn't going to be a big enough factor to the public at large.

How will Sanders make this happen when the general public has shown no real appetite to support these programs and even voted Republicans back in control of Congress and the White House on issues of government spending?

Also the real boon is the miliary budget. Even a 2% cut would fund a lot of ****.

Even though I was in the military (Navy: 1976-1996), I’m all for a cut in that budget as the U.S. outspends the next five or six nations combined. Problem is, that’s the third rail that’s guaranteed to kill political careers because they’d be seen as not supporting the troops, and Republicans make sure to hammer that false flag home.

The GOP never gave a damn about a plan to replace the ACA, they just want to kill it because that uppity black man with the Muslim sounding name put it into law.

For Medicare they would just expand it. Probably a moderate tax increase in Sanders plan but for most people it would be a net savings when you account for costs with preemiums. Warren already has a slightly different method she released which is essentially reworking employer based health costs. It's a bit convoluted but workable under the correct frame work.

Warren basically lost most of her support when she unveiled that ludicrous two stage plan, which pretty much everyone took to mean accepting a half measure when the GOP inevitably stonewalls her in Congress. So the details of her plan are irrelevant, because we already know she's not committed to implementing it.

Warren's plan costs less than Bernie's.

Warren's plan is also going to be much more difficult to pass as it's tied to immigration, which adds an extra facet to get it over the hurdle. Ultimately both have the same ends. Bernie doesn't dissuade from the tax increase, but it's simpler on the back end. Warren's is able to maske the tax increase, but it's more convoluted and requires people getting on board on multiple policies. It really depends on if you think not having to say you will raise taxes is a good trade off for a much more difficult path to passage.

At the end of the day, both plans cost less than what we have now.

Ironically enough, a lot of the attacks on these programs are based on the racist assumption that "blacks and illegals" are abusing them.

But when you have a blind spot to that aspect of the American public, you might assume that everyone is on the same page as you are.

Swallow your pride and vote for that nominee in November, because if you insist on voting for some odd third party candidate, or staying home and not voting at all, out of spite, then we're all doomed.

Agreed Malvolio. I like Warren. I think Biden is to centrist and still wants to compromise with Republicans. He hasn't learned that this GOP is different from the one when he was a Senator. Though he should know it from how they treated Obama. But if he is the nominee, I will gladly support him. If he has the best chance of beating Trump and bringing the Dems the Senate, I will be jubilant.
