I think someone's unaware of Gen Z's trend back rightward after watching their nutty older brothers and sisters dive off the far left end. Plenty of research has been done, though we'll only know in the next few elections. Just saying you shouldn't automatically count on every young person being ultra liberal. Most are still generally 'liberal' (at least on social standards) but much further toward the moderate side than the kooky millennial far left social issues, and there's been a notable trend toward fiscal conservatism. Don't take my word for it, there's been thousands of articles.

I’ve said this multiple times in these threads. You don’t need to convince me.

    Big reasons for this.

-young people end up going back into an environment similar to their family. If there family was more conservative, at some point in there 20’s they are likely to marry a conservative person from a conservative family and move into a homogenous neighborhood and take jobs with people in their bracket and fall into that.

-Another big thing is they younger generations rarely get what they fought for when they are younger and they get disillusioned and a good deal of them disengage for a few years and only come back when they are older and priorities changed

However the trends are unmistakeable. Younger Republicans are far more socially liberal. 4 Presidential elections ago Bush won by making it about same sex marriage. Today the parry rarely talks about it because they can’t afford to lose the 20 something young Republicans who they know they can’t justify that to their peers

You presume they will change when I would posit that they’ve only went in one direction. At least they used to hide it. It’s as Oprah said once, there’s a group of people that just need to be phased out so the path can stop being blocked.

See there’s something to that and I wish we as Party were more cutthroat on that front. They have no shame in stacking the deck

Democrats still insist on playing by the rules. They still follow Michelle Obama's mantra, "When they go low, we go high", something that absolutely does NOT work in the ruthless world of politics where power is everything and all bets are off when it comes to getting same. Democrats keep bringing knives to gun fights and expect the GOP to play nice, well, MY mantra would be this" When they go low, we go lower". It's the only way to wrest control back from Republicans.

Trump retweets call to fire Fauci amid coronavirus criticism

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump fueled more speculation about the future of Dr. Anthony Fauci on Sunday, retweeting a conservative who called for the top infectious disease specialist to be fired after he said in a CNN interview more could have been done to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Trump believes "everybody is trying make themselves look good," said one source, who claimed Trump has been fixated on two government officials at the center of the response: Fauci and Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar.

"He's been fretting about Fauci for a while," the source said of Trump's focus on the popular public health expert, summing up Trump's comments about the doctor as "why isn't Fauci saying nice things about me?"
Trump has the mindset and emotional age of a 5 year old, or maybe younger. He acts like a self-centered spoiled brat.

I have to say that's a dreadful insult....to five year olds. For Trump, it's always about him and no one else, and it eats at him that Fauci isn't kissing his ass like everyone else in the administration. Meanwhile, as far as I know, Trump STILL hasn't said or tweeted one word of sympathy about the 20,000 plus people who've died from the virus in the country, nor do I expect him to since he's a sociopathic bastard who's totally lacking in compassion.

Exactly. The only place taking the high road gets you is off the side of a cliff.

Problem though is that once you go low, when you try to go up, people will point to the low and call you a hypocrite. On top of that if Dems did go that low, the "Both Sides" Mantra would be worse.

"I can't vote because both sides are just dirty." some apathetic citizen.

That's the problem. Republicans are willing to hit below the belt, bite, and clench. We can talk about playing by the rules, but unfortunately, if the competition doesn't want to play by the rules, then it's not a fair fight. I feel dirty about stooping to the level of the opponent, but Republican voters have no qualms viewing Democrats as corrupt, shameless, and soulless, which has been the agenda the GOP spent decades building the image of. This wasn't something that happened overnight.

What type of ways would you like Democrats to go low?
    Sincerely,
