Also, a lot of those "charities" that conservatives and Republicans are so generous toward, are really megachurches who use the money to purchase luxury items for the church leaders. Not really helping the under-privileged there.

So if you give money to a park you frequent it doesn't count? What about to library you're a member of? How dare people give money to a charity that happens to be close to them.

But I suppose you may be right. I mean, it's not like religious organizations run soup kitchens, orphanages, schools, or homeless shelters. And their members certainly never assist in the running of said charities either.

Not all of them do that.

In some cases they run into brick walls that prevent them from doing that. Sometimes it's members or sometimes it's outside forces standing in the way. Sometimes it's the COST of doing those.
Try opening a school that INCLUDES Special Needs kids. Lets just say the cost of a person to test a kid and do all that is required-is not cheap compared to waht that person can make in private practice.

Kevin Thomas has been gone from work for a month, because of his battle with COVID-19 and pneumonia. He described having coronavirus as "scary."

During his time being sick, he lost 20 lbs and spent 10 days at the hospital, including several of those days in the ICU.



WFAA asked what he is looking forward to most about being back at work.

"Well, I’m going to fight crime,” he laughed.

Thomas has been with the department for 10 years and has been a DPD officer for six years.

Everyone loves the government when they’re building bombs and tanks and blowing **** up overseas. Why not government intervention to keep people alive?

Considering how study after study shows conservatives give far more to charity in terms of time/money/blood (literally), I think you need to meet some people who are not leftist hacks to see how people who don't need the govt's hand up their ass function.

That claim has been shown to be deeply problematic.

Since donations to religious groups, even uncharitable ones, count as “charitable giving,” then it is no surprise that religious people give more to charity. Simply put, the study shows that non-religious people don’t donate to religion. This is neither earth shattering nor particularly informative. Nor is it surprising that those states populated by sects that push their members to tithe report higher “charitable” giving.

Donations to churches may get reused in a manner that would not be tax-deductible itself, as it would not be considered charitable. For instance, donations to the Knights of Columbus, a Catholic organization, are tax-deductible. Yet the organization gave almost $2 million to fund anti-gay campaigns by the National Organization for Marriage. If the “charitable” Catholics who gave that money had directly donated it to NOM, they would never have received a tax write-off.


However, if you donated to the Human Rights Campaign to counter campaigns funded by the Knights, that donation “can not be classified as tax deductible.” Only one funds given to the churches in this political campaign were counted as charitable.

The majority of the working class are either people of color or women, and they have definitely been voting blue for years.
