So any politician who seeks support from people pissed off with the existing system are “extremists”??

Bernie isn’t a communist...he doesn’t believe in allowing the state to control ALL key industries. And he doesn’t believe in overthrowing the existing government by violence..he’s not an extremist by definition most people would use.

By standards of most Western European’s he’s a centralist politician, maybe a bit right wing.

Many of his supporters certainly believe so, just ask them or listen to their various works (podcasts, videos) or read their blog posts. They also believe in and propagate unfalsifiable claims or "conspiracy theories" which prop up their candidate & cause a well-known hallmark of extremist movements.

I disagree, I study political movements for a living, the beliefs & behavior of Bernie and his core supporters fit the definition of political extremism to a tea as does those of Trump and his core supporters.

I believe this is a disingenuous label. Trump claims he is a Conservative but what his supporters want and what he does in office is naked Fascism same goes for Sanders but it's naked Communism. Sanders' supporters want to DESTROY the present system just listen to them or ask them.

Hitler co-opted the Socialism label (in National Socialism) because he knew it would make selling his right-wing extremism to the masses easier in the initial stages of the movement. Many Democrats know the score why do you think they don't want Sanders to be the nominee?
