My quick thoughts on the debate:
What Bernie needed from this debate was a miracle. He needed to not only perform great; he needed Biden to also fall flat on his face. Biden didn’t do that. In fact, he definitely had his best debate of the season (which isn’t saying much). I would say Biden met my expectations, which were higher than most people on this forum. I understood that the “mental degradation” was a smear campaign and Biden proved to be a lot more comfortable with a limited audience (moderators and camera crew) and being able to go longer on his policy proposals. This is in line with, as I’ve been saying, a stutter. Maybe we should want better from the presumptive nominee, but I digress.
Bernie actually had a few moments were he looked cornered, particularly on the Cuba and China stuff. Meanwhile, I did think the weaker part of the debate for both of them was relitigating past actions. I liked when Biden tried to move away from that, asking if we were talking about the future or the past—but then he proceeded to site the past to batter Sanders and defend himself.
Overall, I didn’t think that was a good thing to offer voters given their decades of experience in the political system and actual evolution that occurred in the party and country in that time. Biden has been fairly consistent in remaining in the political center of the Democratic Party due to real political science evaluation of his votes. Sanders has consistently been further to the left than the center of the party. We knew where they stood and how they had acted in the past. However, I do think Sanders did score some points—just not where it really mattered or already had not been litigated.
Ultimately, I think this will end up being pretty inconsequential other than Biden promising to pick a female VP, a black woman for the Supreme Court, and promising to shut down deportations for a period before prioritizing felons. This is to build on top of the olive branch that Biden extended earlier today by embracing a “free college plan for most” and Warren’s bankruptcy bill. I’d say Biden is looking at wrapping this up fairly quickly, especially given voting in most states will likely be delayed going forward and no presumptive nominee wants to face a challenge in his own party through June, especially given he is going up against an incumbent.

FIRST: Democrats had power to pass national legislation for just two years out of the last 25 - the 111th Congress 2009-2010, during which these “corporatists”:
- passed the ACA, insuring 40 million more Americans,
- banned bias for pre-existing conditions (enraging the insurance companies who then donated heavily to Republicans in 2010),
- passed banking regulation (enraging that cabal, who donated heavily to Republicans in 2010, when many splitters didn’t vote),
- created the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau whose destruction was Trump’s top goal,
- vastly increased auto gas mileage standards, saving Americans billions at the pump,
- expanded support for sustainables, resulting in the solar+wind “takeoff,”
- did a sweeping overhaul of Wall Street rules (enraging that cabal, who donated heavily to Republicans in 2010),
- passed a $787 billion economic stimulus package,
- repealed “don’t ask, don’t tell”, allowing gays to serve openly in the military, and much more…

American Trojan Communism died tonight for at least another generation, better luck next time *sarcasm*. I didn't think Biden had it in him, great job unmasking Sanders. Joe smoked Bernie on Cuba.

Coronavirus Live Updates: C.D.C. Gives New Guidelines, New York to Close Restaurants and Schools and Italian Deaths Rise
No gatherings of 50 or more for now, urges the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended Sunday that no mass gatherings with 50 people or more — including weddings, festivals, parades, concerts, sporting events or conferences — be held in the United States for the next eight weeks in one of the federal government’s most sweeping efforts to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
The C.D.C. said that its recommendation, which would dramatically change life in the United States for the next two months, does not apply to “the day to day operation of organizations such as schools, institutes of higher learning, or businesses” and added that it was not intended to supersede the advice of local health officials.

The Man With 17,700 Bottles of Hand Sanitizer Just Donated Them
A Tennessee man who became a subject of national scorn after stockpiling 17,700 bottles of hand sanitizer donated all of the supplies on Sunday just as the Tennessee attorney general’s office began investigating him for price gouging.
On Sunday morning, Matt Colvin, an Amazon seller outside Chattanooga, Tenn., helped volunteers from a local church load two-thirds of his stockpile of hand sanitizer and antibacterial wipes into a box truck for the church to distribute to people in need across Tennessee.
Officials from the Tennessee attorney general’s office on Sunday took the other third, which they plan to give to their counterparts in Kentucky for distribution. (Mr. Colvin and his brother Noah bought some of the supplies in Kentucky this month.)
The donations capped a tumultuous 24 hours for Mr. Colvin. On Saturday morning, The New York Times published an article about how he and his brother cleaned out stores of sanitizer and wipes in an attempt to profit off the public’s panic over the coronavirus pandemic. Mr. Colvin sold 300 bottles of hand sanitizer at a markup on Amazon before the company removed his listings and warned sellers they would be suspended for price gouging.
