There's just enough sprinkling of truth in there to justify why the various nations reached out to the Soviet Union, while erasing what the Soviet Union are as a group that just happened to be fighting America "off-screen." Slight of hand in digital form, like a magic trick.

I was merely responding to the absurd suggestion that American imperialism rose as some sort of defensive measure against Soviet expansion. The point you clearly missed trying to make me out to be some pinko fifth columnist is that none of the supposed communist countries we were fighting and occupying, for the good of the people there natch, actually gave two shits about the USSR or Marxism. As far as any of them were concerned, the only real enemy was Western colonialism, and since we decided to take up that baton when Britain and France dropped it, that made us the evil empire in their eyes. Some leaders, like Ho Chi Minh, actually greatly admired the USA and believed that we would be a more benevolent hegemon who would respect the right to self-determination instead of simply strip mining all these countries of their resources and using their people for slave labor, even going so far as to quote Jefferson in Vietnam's own declaration of independence.

Your "response" was propaganda which warped the truth about the USSR's involvement in the Cold War, which made an impressive display to talk around them as though they were a non entity worth examining in that time period when we both know they weren't innocent lambs in that part of history. Supposed? Keep your story straight, your previous post accepted the fact they had alliances with many, many countries - Cuba, China, Vietnam and North Korea being among them. Are you suggesting that none of these countries were Communist during the Cold war?

America did lots of horrible things back then, and many countries did have cause to fear its power, however, you're minimising their own horrible histories and that backing the Soviets didn't automatically make them "good." Stalin was not a "good" person by any stretch.

A few week ago you were defending Castro's Cuba and when I bought up valid reasons for why people would be upset with signal boosting his regime, like how he imprisoned gay man for being "defiants" and forced them to work in labor camps where they were tortured to death.
