Italian council is flooded immediately after rejecting measures on climate change

(CNN)Veneto regional council, which is located on Venice's Grand Canal, was flooded for the first time in its history on Tuesday night -- just after it rejected measures to combat climate change.

The historic Italian city has been brought to its knees this week by the worst flooding there in more than 50 years.

And the council chamber in Ferro Fini Palace started to take in water around 10 p.m. local time, as councilors were debating the 2020 regional budget, Democratic Party councilor Andrea Zanoni said in a long Facebook post.

"Ironically, the chamber was flooded two minutes after the majority League, Brothers of Italy, and Forza Italia parties rejected our amendments to tackle climate change," Zanoni, who is deputy chairman of the environment committee, said in the post, which also has photographs of the room under water.

Among the rejected amendments were measures to fund renewable sources, to replace diesel buses with "more efficient and less polluting ones," to scrap polluting stoves and reduce the impact of plastics, he said.

Zanoni went on to accuse Veneto regional president Luca Zaia, who is a member of Matteo Salvini's far-right League Party, of presenting a budget "with no concrete actions to combat climate change."

As far as I can grok shes just saying "This is new and complicated for alot of us, give everyone a bit of time to wrap their heads around it, also my generation didnt have to deal with this"

Which as far as I can tell is pretty standard for a senior citizen to say.

Yeah, I am in near her in age and I know I would feel a bit weird in a public bathroom or something if for some reason that came up. When I was in school, you were lucky to get good information on any topics about sexuality. For sure this transgender would never be a topic my parents would ever bring up. Woke people need to give people a break for being honest.

Theres a difference between being honest and being an *******. Many are being assholes.

I'm in my late twenties, a colleague of mine was in her early twenties. Shed ackowledged she was trans for a few months now (M to F) but also acknowledged that she wasn't going to be physically transitioning for a while due to cash issues, I'd asked about others I heard who were trans but refused to transition. She explained it to me after I asked politely about how that worked exactly. She in turn happily explained because I wasn't an ******* about it

People must have much different public bathroom experiences than me. I usually go eyes forward no talking unless someone holds the door open (to say "Thanks"). And that's it. Unless it's a deuce than I awkwardly try to pretend like I'm not there and wait for people to leave so I can escape unnoticed. I've never gotten into a discussion about gender.

Republicans have this weird notion that Trans people have explicitly gone through the expensive, time consuming and painful process just to perv on women. This is very much a mixture of "Old people don't get the modern world" and transphobia.

The transphobia because duh, the old peoppe thing because they think that you'd go through all that trouble and not just watch porn/buy a hooker.
