Smoke grenades. We see him in the next panel and hes still alive and in one piece.
Im really curious what happened to Kate between the gate shutting down on her and the moment she arrives on Krakoa. She decides to change her name and Emma seems to be the only one who knows. She alludes to someone telling her they trust her before Emma. And accuse "them" (Emma and??? The XMen???) of thinking she's weak. Also she visibly resents the other XMen for having free access to Krakoa while refusing to ask them for help. Its all very in character and interesting I cant wait to know more and Im happy with this treatment of post Whedon Kemma.
Haven't made it to the local comic store to pick this one up. Emma is really the draw to me from the lineup shown on the cover, I hope she plays a prominent role in this series.

One thing i'm wondering about now, is Moira law of no pre-cogs on Krakoa? What happens if the team comes across a pre-cog that wants to go to Krakoa, and what about other pre-cogs are they being protected so they won't be used against the X-men?
Kitty is a mutant!! Changing that now I think would piss too many off for Marvel to retcon her to not being a mutant!
Ok the full issue was a lot better than the preview made it seem.
It still had humor and all that (and in fact that panel with Kate's darkened face and shining eyes seemed straight out of a japanese manga) but it also had a more serious subplot with Kitty --> Kate, and accepting Emma Frost's offer to join the Hellfire Trading Company.
Oddly enough we got no confirmation regarding Kate becoming part of the Krakoan Quiet Council at least not yet, I guess that's still coming.
The thing with her being blocked from using the gates is quite odd, people speculate either somehow she isn't a true mutant or Krakoa is keeping her out intentionally for some reason (she could access the No Space perhaps? but then again so could Magik, Nightcrawler, etc)
Pyro comes off really weird for me
Overall fairly solid but yeah there is a definite thing with "2 books in 1" going on here between Emma/Shaw/Kate and then Storm/Iceman/Bishop on the other. Like very tonally distinct
Forget the old ways - Krakoa is god.
OBEY
Its not a law. Its something she told in private to Xavier and Magneto and they've already proven to go against her. The X-men dont know about Moira nor have a reason to not bring pre-cogs to Krakoa, so they would if they were to find them. If Xavier is taking Moira seriously though, he may have a secret team established to take out the pre-cogs

Before I head home, I thought I would leave you all with this important message:
We are MUTANT..Krakoa, FOREVER!!! “Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité”
I was so bored with Marauder's first issue.
The focus on Kitty is... eh. Maybe I'm traumatized with X-Men Gold but nothing seemed organic to me. At least her fight was kinda cool.
Also not into Goofy Bobby. Couldn't barely understand Pyro's lines. Sinister Secrets were very unintersting.
On the good side, I was intrigued by Taipei's thing. It's cool seing the global repercussions of Krakoa (finally). I hope we get more of that and less of lame comedy.
kitty was pretty savage in this issue. and she it all without saying I'm a ninja.
ALL HAIL THE HADARI YAO, THE OMEGA'S OMEGA, BEYOND OMEGA, THE VOICE OF SOL!!!! NOW AGAIN THE ONE TRUE AND ONLY GODDESS OF THE X-MEN AS CLAREMONT INTENDED!!!!!
Pretty meh. Also, no, Kitty, I won't call you Kate no matter how hard Marvel and co. try to make me.
