Things take a dark turn as we celebrate the 80th anniversary of the House of Ideas with the era-spanning MARVEL TALES! This anthology series shines a spotlight on fan-favorite characters, features timeless stories and highlights some of our most impressive talent from the past eight decades. This time we’re focusing on the Ravencroft Asylum for the Criminally Insane — and some of its deadliest inmates! First, Spidey legends J.M. DeMatteis and Sal Buscema introduce Ravencroft founder Dr. Ashley Kafka in the psychological SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN (1976) #178! The asylum’s most famous resident, Cletus “Carnage” Kasady, wreaks havoc in SPIDER-MAN UNLIMITED (1993) #1 — the first chapter of the epic Maximum Carnage! And modern masters Dan Slott and Stuart Immonen take things to a whole new level of crazy in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (2015) #798 — where Norman Osborn plus the Carnage symbiote equals…the Red Goblin!

It really is nice how great characters like MJ and Felicia are both in the spotlight and getting to shine in their own series/ongoing or otherwise right now. It all feels right, I get sometimes you gotta try different things but none of the other stuff was really sticking from the past decade of no MJ romance and Felicia back to square one/villainy.

Fun to see Chance on the ASM cover along with JJJ. It's fascinating to me how they keep evolving him with the times, from newspapers, to mayor, to TV news, to blogging, to podcasting. That was his role in the PS4 game and it worked in that context for sure.

Curious that they're going with so many minis (three new ones launching.) I wonder if it's a permanent plan, or if they're planning to launch new ongoings soon, but want more Spider-Man material out there first.
    Sincerely,

    Thoughts:

    - I like Ravencroft but not sure if I see the need for such a big push. Does Marvel really want people to know they have their own Arkham Asylum? And "new staff?" John Jameson worked there in the 90's (at least bring Kafka back) .

    - Excited for the Bugle book with Robbie and Ben .

    - Morbius with even less humanity? With how inconsistent that is in general, I'm curious how different he'll be...

    - Who would've thought the son of the Goblin and the son of Venom would form their own dynamic duo?

    - That Greg Land Ghost Spider cover is distracting.

    - "his absentee dad and dead mother" so pretty much most JJ Abrams protagonists.

    - I'm sure Snoop Dogg is excited for Janice and Felicia meeting.

    - I thought Jonah had already started podcasting? Maybe it was a radio show, but it didn't feel much different.

    - It sounds like Peter is going to replicate the body splitting, only four times the Peter/Spidey.

    - "Sinister Sextet?" Why does that make me think of Beetle's all-female Sinister Six...

    - Mary Jane and Mysterio as the surprise friendship of the year? But somehow I don't see it ending well for MJ .

    - Sounds like we'll get to see more of the background of PS4!Peter and Felicia's relationship that the game alluded to.

One of the great things about Spider-Man is his supporting cast ( and I don't just mean MJ). They were sadly neglected during Dan Slott's run ( one of many issues I had with him). The Daily Bugle and Joe Robertson getting their own stories is something to look forward to. Robertson was and still is a voice of reason and the one person who JJJ will listen to ( see Bullett, Sam as Exhibit A of this belief). Besides the Bugle mini, , Amazing, and Amazing MJ, I feel positive for tbe first time in years about the direction Spider-Man is goibg in. What else do I want to see in 2020? 1: OMD undone. 2: Kindred identified and to understand his ( or her) motivation. 3: The return of Doc Ock. 4: Silk keeping away from Amazing. 5: Continued good stories.

What's that supposed to mean? It sounds like you're setting yourself up for disappointment.

There are three other Ravencroft issues, including RUINS OF RAVENCROFT: CARNAGE, SABRETOOTH, and DRACULA as well as other Ravencroft True Believers reprints (I only included the Spider-Man related ones though)

THINGS ARE ABOUT TO GET NUTS!
    • If mind swapping with each other wasn’t bad enough, now Spider-Man and Venom are jumbled up even worse!
    • How much worse? You’ll have to read to find out!

Mind switch? Urgh... Too much of that with Spidey lately.

It was a radio show, I think they changed his timetable, he got annoyed and left, so he might be doing his own thing now.

Speaking of her, where's even Cindy lately? Lol

Oh well, a lot of stuff with Spidey, hopefully they'll be good.

Silk actually has a prominent role in Agents of Atlas' mini.

With Jonah, the radio show changed the time and offered Barney Buskin, his former producer, the head spot on the show. It was quite funny lol but Norah Winters showed up to recruit him for something. Could this be part of it? I hope Spencer didn't drop that plotline
