It depends on the author. They are more important than the characters.

    It absolutely is.

In six years, from ages 13 to 19, Kitty has seen more torture, execution, death, and carnage then any soldier in the history of our world. She has seen futures of her friends and family genocided no less than 12 times. She has been presumed dead at least twice. Every friend she has has died at least once. A person who remains the EXACT same through all of that is a person suffering from extreme mental illness.

Chris Clairemont isn't coming back. And if his portrayal is the only portrayal you'll accept, then you're going to be unhappy for quite a while.

There is probably a way to make Kitty a character development without the charactr maiming goons

It isn't. They were other good authors too. Just not recently. But luckily comics isn't the unique source of joy.

We cheer when Wolverine tears goons into small pieces, and those people usually aren't carting innocent people to Gulags. Why is Kitty's so much worse?

Wolverine started out that way, and doesn't like it when other people follow his example.

Cherry picking when authors you agree with, and which you don't, then using that as a basis for arguing with others isn't a great tactic.

Wolverine also unilaterally slaughters and kills. His personal kill count is in the thousands. Kitty could have killed every single soldier there. She didn't kill any of them.

An example he has set for 40 years, working with the US Government and the world's foremost "peacekeeping" organization in the Avengers?

Yeah, Wolverine would have done a lot worse to them.

Yep. This was the guy who didn't let kids on missions when he was a headmaster. Feel free to call him a hypocrite, but that's what he's like.
