There's a law in place at Marvel that forbids Peter having babymamas. Shooter spelled that out to Mantlo when he wanted to knock up Felicia while they were dating in the '80s. The various licenses they sold Spider-Man too have morality clauses attached that spell out they won't do that.
When Peter and MJ got married, pregnancy was theoretically okay from a morality perspective, albeit not from an editorial/writer issue since people had issues with Peter aging and so on.
The same way the marriage was okay from that perspective but not from another side.
Not quite. If you're referring to Peter and MJ's conversation in One Moment in Time, MJ said she doesn't want to have kids with Peter Parker if he's active as Spider-Man.
In the Clone Saga, Peter retired as Spider-Man. So we could imagine the story going the same way.
It remains a Schrodinger's Cat situation. It hasn't been resolved either way, and that image from the History of the Marvel Universe doesn't resolve it either.
Peter and MJ wouldn't necessarily have a major reason to get married very quickly.
They're in social circles where having children out of wedlock is acceptable. Aunt May would be the one person who would care the most, but she was believed dead.
Sincerely,
Thomas Mets
