I've just binged all 4 available episodes today and this show is still delivering.
There is heavy drama going here on several fronts. None moreso than Lois' cancer.
Lana/Kyle/Sarah that trio has been a bit to watch.
Natalie giving her moms watch to Lois as a sign of support and John Henry not wanting to accept that but seemingly does.
Candace's dad....I guess we could've seen the last of him but douche rednecks don't always go away quietly.
The slow build up of Mannhiem and Intergang, great imo to give focus elsewhere than Lex.
Curious to Jordan in his suit that Grampa gave him, next episode I guess.

To date this season is getting a solid A grade from me. Flash S9 writers room could've used these folks.

Lex, Maxima, Hellgrammte, Toyman, Metallo, Parasite, Mxy, Silver Banshee, Master Jailer, Live Wire, Barrage, Zod, & Bloodsport.

Outside of Smallville she's faced more of his comic book foes than any version of Clark put to live action.

Edit: Terminator was released in 1984 for Christ Sake not one of the Superman films since could have at least given us Metallo!

    Metallo was in Smallville though.

Yeah, Smallville had the most of Superman Rogues

The Luthors, Intergang, Morgan Edge, Silver Banshee, Metallo, Mxy, Toyman, Maxima, Doomsday, Bizarro, Parasite, Plastique, Zod and the Kryptonians, Icicle, Bruno Mannheim, Gordon Godfrey, Granny Goodness, Desaad, & Mad Harriet.

& some who weren't necessary his rogues but major DC villains Deathstroke, Deadshot, Icicle, Maxwell Lord, Roulette, Turtle, & Cameos by Solomon Grundy, Captain Cold, and Black Manta.

Superboy had Lex, Bizarro, Mxy (Played by Michael J. Pollard and looked like him), Gilbert Gottfried as a Toyman rip-off (Weird given it was their character), & a really bad Metallo.

Lois and Clark had Lex, another really bad Metallo this time played by Mallory's boyfriend from Family Ties, speaking of which there was Mallory (Justine Bateman) as a Kryptonian and a bunch of Kryptonan villains but not Zod, Intergang, Toyman, Prankster, & a weird version of Deathstroke.

The films have been obsessed with Luthor and Zod.

George Reeves fought gangsters and schemers.

& Lex showed up in one of the Serials.

So yeah, outside of Smallville Supergirl thus far has had more Superman villains than most Superman shows and films.

    DoD lady: Hand to God.

    Superman:

    Sorry, couldn't help it.

I see John has gone full Henshin Hero. The scene with his doppelganger's sister was very heartbreaking.

If only he'd gone that route. Would've been rather out of character for him, but it could have at least made DoD think twice before trying to store up his blood for what? Anti-Superman bioweapons or something?

And yeah, John being able to instantaneously change into his armor through that smartwatch he had on . . . toku as f***. Also somewhat reminiscent of the later iterations of Iron Man in the films.

I think immediately Heat Visioning the blood made his point quite well.

Man, what an episode. I just cannot believe how consistently good this show is!

Whether it's Superman destroying his blood, John Henry going after Mannheim, Lana's family mending things or the whole Candice business, it all carries so much emotional weight.

True enough. I just thought doing the "Swear to me!" bit after the DoD lady said, "Hand to God" would have been somewhat funny.

Indeed. Relative to Candice, I also liked Clark taking care of business as Clark Kent, loving and protective husband and father, as well as a compassionate and friendly shoulder to lean on.

That was my least favorite part. I get Clark's feelings, but Superman should be above that type of thing - especially in his civilian ID. Clark shrugging off those punches makes Barry on The Flash seem obsessive about protecting his secret ID in comparison. It was both petty and careless.

The guy stole his son's truck, punched him when he called him out on it and threatened Lois with a gun.

If no one has noticed that Clark looks exactly like Superman, they are not going to put two and two together because he manhandled a drunken idiot in a fight.

Superman should definitely not be above that sort of thing. If there's one thing Clark hates, it's a bully. And this one hit his son!

I agree Clark should've at least pretended to be a little phased by that punch, but I'm glad we're not doing the "that big guy who's clearly physically large and muscular is a weakling" schtick. At least Clark didn't slide him over the counter and into a pinball machine.
