We all remember Sonny the Cuckoo bird who starred in many commercials for Cocoa Puffs, but did you ever notice the glaring inaccuracy of the original commercials? Sonny had a character named Gramps, his Grandfather, who looked like Sonny except he was old. Now in reality Cuckoos plant their eggs in other birds nests so Sonny would not even know his father, let alone his Grandfather.

And also, this commercial strips away any shred of dignity that the mentally ill might have, with Sonny's seizures over a breakfast cereal.

And while Sonny's clearly mentally ill, what exactly is his diagnosis? For all that matters what is the Joker's diagnosis? He is presented that his mental illness is his super-power but the vast majority of the mental ill do not have this super power. Would it kill DC comics to have a mentally ill character that does not kill people and who is not evil?
