The White Court of the Hellfire Trading Company
If the black court is about illegal operations, the white side of the company would be about international beneficient programs and moving money to helpful outreach. Nemesis and Prodigy would brainstorm mutant solutions for human problems. Iceman and Christian would balance the books and move money. Monet, as an ambassador's daughter would move in international circles while Rogue as an Uncanny Avenger would advocate in the superheroic communities. Both women would be Emma's muscle when she needs it.
WQ: Emma Frost
WK: classified
WQB: Christian Frost
WKB: Bobby Drake
WQK: Monet
WKK: Rogue
WQR: Nemesis
WKR: Prodigy

The next list is replacing the original JSA lineup with Marvel characters. The caveat is that all the members have to have been published by Marvel/Timely in the 1940s, so no retconned characters like Spitfire are allowed (though traits added to the GA characters since the 40s are taken into account when pairing them up).
The Flash - The Whizzer (all about the speed)
Green Lantern - Fiery Mask (characters have a similar look and their powers are within the same neighborhood)
Spectre - Black Widow (Spectre is the most terrifying of the DC GA heroes. BW is the most terrifying of the Marvel GA heroes)
Doctor Fate- Monako (Most of Marvel's GA magic users were more cut from the Zatara cloth. Monako gets the push due to his origins and that he was brought back in Aaron's Dr. Strange run)
Hawkman - Red Raven (wings, baby)
Sandman - Phantom Reporter (Lots of caped and fedora types in GA Marvel, but Phantom Reporter just felt the most detective like, which ties into my love of Sandman Mystery Theatre)
Hourman - Captain America (better living through chemistry)
Starman - Moon Man (both of these guys had psychological obsessions with night/stars grafted onto their characters in later decades)
Wonder Woman - Namora (Super strong royalty from a hidden location)
Atom - Young Avenger (The GA Atom was a younger guy, maybe the youngest on the JSA; Young Avenger seemed to be the only boyish type who wasn't a sidekick)
Johnny Thunder - Thin Man (Couldn't find a good parallel with the Thunderbolt, so went with the slim physicality of both, plus that both of their talents are on the quirkier side)
Dr. Mid-Nite - The Falcon (Costumed urban crimefighters with bird elements felt right to me)
Black Canary - Blonde Phantom (Both skilled fighters emulating Veronica Lake)
Mister Terrific - The Challenger (Challenger's origins had him training in various physical and mental skills across the globe, while Terrific was naturally adept in all the same things)
Wildcat - Blazing Skull (A bit of a stretch, but this goes towards later personalities and the fact they both wound up being long lived due to the circumstances of becoming the heroes they are)

Airborne Operating out of a SHIELD helicarrier, Airborne is an aerial fast-response team, both for threat response and disaster relief. They don't have one explicit leader, but tend to respond in a pitch to Falcon (Sam Wilson). Other members include the Wasp (Janet van Dyne), the Angel (Warren Worthington), Songbird (Melissa Gold), Mach V (Abe Jenkins), Cloud 9 (Abby Boylen), Nighthawk (Kyle Richmond) and Sun Girl (Seelah Burke). Assisted by dozens of SHIELD agents on atomic steeds, and by Jocasta coordinating activities from within the helicarrier, which they have named Higher Ground, the team is financed by the Wasp, Nighthawk and the Angel, who rotate financial concerns among themselves. (Noting them bickering over which millionaire is paying for what, Seelah leans in to Sam and mutters, 'White people problems...').
Prominent rivals are a criminal organization of airborne raiders operating out of a series of skyscraper penthouses originally purchased and set up by Stryfe, years ago, and equipped with teleportation portals allowing the villains in control of these abandoned 'safe houses' to zip from city to city in the blink of an eye. Led by the Beetle (Janice), Killer Shrike, Dragoness (who maintains the penthouse network and treats the others as her guests, since the future-tech safe houses systems are programmed to respond only to her mutant DNA, and that of a few other trusted MLF members appointed by Stryfe, back in the day) and the Vulture (who has received a bad diagnosis and has adopted a more cavalier attitude of late, knocking items off his bucket list like dominos), they had a team of expendable flunkies in heavy lifting exosuits (adapted from a bulkier Beetle armor by Janice) that fly slowly, but can carry larger booty, and smaller fast-attack flightsuits designed by the Vulture, they conduct high-altitude crime, specializing in robbing planes in midair of valuable shipments, or, occasionally, other penthouses in distant markets (never in a city in which they have a safe house). Killer Shrike is attempting to move into a sole leadership role, but the others are having none of it. Dragoness ally Forearm coordinates remotely, having managed to keep it a secret that, in addition to four arms, he's also got two brains, and is a bit of a computer genius (although he spends most of that brainpower excelling at video games...). Other former MLF come and go, with Tempo being one of their 'secret weapons' (and allowing the world to believe that she's dead) able to accelerate their flunkies (mostly recruited by Killer Shrike, which could lead to questionable loyalties if ever gets around to staging a coup...) to strip a target location of loot in moments, like a swarm of piranha.
^^^thats kick ass, a damn good idea, Sutekh!
That was excellent! No way I can match that one w. those stips! I bow to you on this Friday!
One in particular made me LOL. I saw Hourman/Captain America and thought “huh”, then read “better living through chemistry”, and saw where you were coming from immediately!
Genkai nante nai (No limits), Zettai nante nai (No absolutes)
Thank GOD for X'97. Cautious about "From the Ashes". Please no more Blue vs. Orange.
One of the coolest things about those movies was how they established the Iron Man armor’s flight capability; equating it w. fighter jets, even having a scene in the original IM movie where he engaged in a dog fight. It lent a realism to the concept of the armor, before they started adding more fantastical elements in further movies.
Yeah, I liked the more mechanical feel to it, before all the nano-whatever and floating components and shapeshifting weapons came into play in the later movies. It gave it a certain 'weight', if that makes any sense, made it feel more like a machine that could, however implausibly, actually exist, and less like CGI magic. For that reason, I've always been more partial to battlesuits like Mach V, kind of clunky and in-your-face mechanical, over skintight bodysuits like Guardian/Vindicator, which somehow contain the same level of tech, while wearing like spandex.
