Emma Frost
Sue Storm
Medusa
Narmor
Canada’s newly formed paranormal investigation team, using The Perhapanauts as a jumping off point.
SASQUATCH (Big)
Dr. Walter Langkowski’s been a member of nearly every incarnation of AF and was asked to be team leader. He’s had a rough few years though and was really hoping to take a break. Still, w. one exception he’s never worked w. any of the other heroes and has no convoluted history w. them which is a plus. Between that and their very specific mission statement he thinks he’ll be okay to lead.
CECILIA REYES (Arisa)
Able to generate a psioplasmic bio-field that protects her from nearly all physical harm, Dr. Reyes is also a top notch surgeon and trauma counselor. She’s never really been into the hero thing, but this way she gets to help ppl who have had paranormal experiences. That and the Canadian Govt. gave her a boatload of money to relocate.
GOBLYN (Choopie)
Small in size but an incredibly fierce fighter with keen animal senses, fangs, and razor sharp claws, Goblyn can speak but mostly chooses not to. Usually inseparable from her twin sister Laura (codename Pathway, a high level teleporter and dimension hopper), Goblyn will not say where her sister is or what may have happened to her.
ACCESS (MG)
Axel Asher’s been referred to by certain Cosmic Deities as an “In Btweener”, literally existing in two universes simultaneously. He possesses an impressive understanding of intra- and extra-dimensional phenomena and can traverse dimensional barriers and boundaries, detecting their closeness and weak points. Dr. Langkowski’s given Axel a secret directive to look into the disappearance of Goblyn’s sister Laura, who’s powers are similar to, though not nearly as powerful as his own.
DEAD GIRL (Molly)
A mutant whose powers didn’t activate until she died, Dead Girl can speak to the dead, resurrect the recently departed as zombies; she can become intangible, invisible, and “scarier”, becoming more monstrous and physically destructive. After the superteam X-Statix broke up, Dead Girl was looking for a new job opportunity and the Canadian Govt. offered a sweet deal.
After The Invaders and before The Agents of Atlas
there was this short lived team:
The Blonde Bombshell!
The Alien Visitor!
The King of Atlantis!
The Fearless Pilot turned Hero!
The Fastest Man Alive!
next generation/All-New Defenders:
-Magik (as the new Sorcerer Supreme)
-Gargoyle (the elder mentor from a previous line-up)
-Kymaera (Atlantean)
-Sister Voodoo (new character, relative of the Drumm family; alternately, could bring in the alt-universe version, who already exists)
-Valkyrie (Jane Foster with Undrjarn)
-Iron Fist (the new one)
-Hulkling (lean into his Kree heritage and give him some cosmic powers like his half-siblings Genis and Phyla)
-Wiccan (another mystic, creating some tension with Illyana over the fact that he was also a contender for the Sorcerer Surpeme title before she earned it)
After The Invaders and before The Agents of Atlas
there was this short lived team:
The Blonde Bombshell!
The Alien Visitor!
The King of Atlantis!
The Fearless Pilot turned Hero!
The Fastest Man Alive!
The Missing Teammate!
I wanted to make a Canadian version of the Defenders Big Four (Doc Strange, Hulk, Namor, Sufer), and thought well, that’d just be members of Alpha Flight. Then I thought well, Doc, Hulk, and Namor have all been Avengers so why not.
SHAMAN (Dr. Strange)
Michael Twoyoungmen is the main man when it comes to magic North of the Border. Like Dr. Strange Michael’s also a skilled surgeon, when he needs to be.
SASQUATCH (Hulk)
Walter Langkowski is that other Gamma powered turns into a monster guy, w. the Canadian twist of resembling a legendary creature from out of local legend.
YUKON JACK (Namor)
Like Namor, Yukotujakzurjimozoata is Royalty. A Demi God, next in line to rule his ppl. He’s strong, fast, impervious to cold, and can use the bones inlaid in his skin as cutting and melee weapons.
FIRELORD (Silver Surfer)
No rule says Firelord has to touch down in the U.S. when he visits Earth. He and Yukon Jack would rub each other the wrong way, given their fire/ice dynamics, like Hulk and Namor are known to do.
I recently did a bit of a deep dive on the history of the MLJ/Archie/Red Circle team the Mighty Crusaders. Thought it might be fun to put together a Marvel line-up reflecting that team. As a note, this is more of a look at a number of characters who've appeared on various line-ups over time, versus targeting one particular incarnation of the group. And with that...
The Shield (original) - Captain America (duh)
The Black Hood - The Masked Raider
The Comet - Comet-Man (also duh)
The Fly - The Hornet
Flygirl - The Wasp (Nadia)
Darkling - Sepulchre
The Shield II - Winter Soldier
The Web - Spider-Man (Miles)
The Jaguar - The Puma
The Fox - Hellcat
Inferno - Sunspot
The Comet II - Cannonball
The Jaguar II - Tigra
Steel Sterling - John Steele
The Hangman - Ghost Rider (Danny)
The Shield III - Free Spirit
as a Canadian, I could get behind this... as long as someone makes me "geography editor", because Marvel has made some pretty big flubs re: locations of things and whatnot up here
I might also argue to use Talisman instead of her dad, or Marinna if she's still alive (she was married to Namor when Dr. Druid led the Avengers) to get a bit of estrogen in there
I call it The Fay-Tastic Four.
When Morgan Le Fay can’t get out of saving the world, she gathers some help:
A (reluctant) Knight…
…a (comedic relief) Priest…
…and a dragon (with a law degree).
Always fun to mess w. the Detroit era JLA line up, which was a great mix of old and new characters, and featured no members of The Trinity. It was doomed from the start!
THE VISION (Martian Manhunter)
Like MM and the JLA, Vision’s an overlooked but powerful character who’s been on more iterations of the Avengers than pretty much anyone. Don’t think he’s ever led the team though, much less built one from scratch.
THE SCARLET WITCH (Zatanna)
This one's a no brainer, as Wanda and Zatanna usually fill the same role and are often matched up. Plus, her romantic history w. The Vision’ll add a little drama.
THE THIN MAN (The Elongated Man)
Ralph Dibney’s powers of deduction are as big a deal as his ability to stretch. In The Thin Man, we have an old school Pulp Era type hero who’s known for solving mysteries and then bashing on bad guys.
NAMOR, THE SUB-MARINER (Aquaman)
Another no brainer. Namor and Aquaman always get compared. Namor’s known as a loner, but that hasn’t stopped him from seemingly being on damn near every team Marvel has at some point or other, so his presence here isn’t too out of left field.
YANKEE CLIPPER (Steel)
Clipper’s a handsome, clean cut, Patriotic type hero. He wears a tricked out belt that generates a skintight force field around his body which he uses to boost his natural athletic ability and simulate super strength and invulnerability. He bridges the gap between the older and younger heroes. Though in his early twenties, he’s actually from the 1950s. The Clipper’s belt can act as a time travel device but it’s so unpredictable he’s decided to never use it that way again.
SILVERCLAW (Vixen)
One of those characters created to be an Avenger that never took off, despite having a great look and powerset. Silverclaw hails from Costa Verde in South America and is a Demi God; her dad was human, and her mom was a volcano Goddess (The Avengers butler Jarvis is her honorary uncle). She can fully or partially transform into animals native to that part of the world.
VIBRAXAS (Vibe)
Born in Wakanda, Vibraxas is the son of a wealthy aristocrat & a brilliant scientist. A lab accident left him infused w. Vibranium and able to manifest all sorts of vibration based abilities. He’s a rebelious young guy, and more than willing to join or even start, a fight. As a trust fund teen he’s a global jetsetter, and hasn’t been back to Wakanda since he left, and he’s way overdue
MARY ZERO (Gypsy)
Gypsy had the chameleon like ability to blend into her surroundings, and Mary ups the ante w. her power of Imperceptibility. She’s incapable of being perceived or remembered by virtually all sentient beings. Unable to control her power at first, Mary spent a good chunk of time homeless, a ghost just wandering around. Now, w. better control, she’s trying to see how else she can use her powers and enjoys interacting w. and being part of a group.
