Technically, isn't manipulating gravity how she flies in the first place?

The Wanderers are I think, the closest DC has to a GoTG type team. Like the GoTG, The Wanderers were set in the future, and have had several reboots none of which have stuck.

During the New52 a present day version of the team made an appearance led by Captain Comet (and renamed The Cometeers) w. Photine (a glowy Quantum energy based female), Erik Drekken (an obscure Superman character who could evolve/devolve himself), an unnamed Xudarian archer (from the same planet as the bird featured GL, Tomar-Re), Susie Thompkins (Lois Lane’s niece, a powerful telepath/telekinetic), Quiller (a big bruiser covered in porcupine quills), and Elvith (a trained killer/melee fighter who uses various blades/firearms).

    COMET MAN (Captain Comet)
Aside from the obv. comet connection, both these guys are high powered Earthlings in space, and not used nearly enough by their Companies.

    FOXFIRE (Photine)
An extra-dimensional human/alien hybrid. Her powered up form gives her metallic golden skin and Herald level fire powers. She once hosted the Phoenix Force.

    MANIKIN (Erik Drekken)
Ex- Beta/Alpha Flight member. A skilled physician who could call up past/future versions of himself. His powers then changed to let him evolve/devolve himself.

    KORVUS (unnamed Xudarian)
A Warrior of the Shi-ar (who are descended from birds), who weilds the magical Blade of The Phoenix, which gives the team two ways to have a Phoenix Force storyline.

    ORORA MUNROE (Susie Thompkins)
The Earth-61029 daughter of Storm and Forge, categorized by the time traveling Sentinel Nimrod as “Pre-Adolescent. X-Factor Positive. Threat Level, Minimal”. She still managed to shunt herself into the 616 Universe after seeing the Sentinel kill her parents, which speaks to her having some big time power inside her. Using the skills taught to her by her parents she survived on a hostile barren planetoid for over a year before being found and adopted by Comet Man.

    CZAR DOON (Quiller)
Large even for a Badoon, Czar’s this team’s big bruiser. He’s not covered in porcupine quills but hey, he knows a guy named Quill.

    DELPHINIA (Elvith)
I like the idea of a buddy team within a team (like Beetle/Booster, Wonderman/Beast). Delphinia and Czar Doon were both members of the mercenary team the Slaughterhouse Squad, so they’ll have some good banter going on. W. her pointed ears and archery skills Delphinia has some elf stuff going on. She’s a trained killer, not opposed to using blades and guns.

A villainous Marvel version of Morrison’s Seven Soldiers line up didn’t come out too awful.

    DREADKNIGHT (Shining Knight)
An obscure character but one I’m a fan of. Is it brilliant Latverian scientist Bram Velsing in the armor? Hawkeye again? Someone else entirely?

    BRUISER (Manhattan Guardian)
MG was a Hero sponsored by a newspaper. Bruiser’s hitman, sponsored by several terrorist groups, able to shift his center of gravity to any part of his body.

    ENCHANTRESS (Zatanna)
Considered a few other characters but I’d never used Sylvie Lushton before so went w. her. She was given magical powers by Loki, pretended to be Asgardian and was banished to another dimension (from which she’s obv. escaped) by the real Enchantress.

    DEATHTRAP (Mr. Miracle)
This guy’s the opposite of a super escape artist, as he builds all sorts of nasty devices and murder houses w. which to kill ppl. He’s also bat crap crazy and a huge pain in the ass.

    KADE KILGORE (Klarion)
Klarion’s a Witch Boy yeah, and Kade’s an evil little guy. A high functioning psychopath w. a genius IQ and tons of cash, KK was able to menace both the X-Men and The Hellfire Club.

    WHITE TIGER (Teekl)
WT was a tiger hyper evolved by The High Evolutionary. She could go from passing for human to weretiger to full tiger. She was eventually de-evolved and relocated to the jungle, but her DNA was permanently altered. Kade Kilgore wanted a cool bodyguard so he had her hunted down and captured then threw money at some A.I.M. scientists to re-evolve her. She’s not happy working for Kilgore but has no choice.

    TEMPO (Bulleteer)
Her helmet and metallic outfit put me in mind of Bulleteer. Tempo can mimic superspeed w. a type of chronokinesis that lets her slow down/speed up ppl and things in her immediate vicinity, even herself. This wouldn’t be the first dodgy group Tempo’s joined. She worked for the Mutant Liberation Front once, and was recently a part of the new Krakoa based mutant cult before hooking up w. Dreadknight.

    PRETTY BOY (Frankenstein’s Monster)
Like DC, Marvel has a Frankenstein’s Monster but I was looking to replace characters not use the same ones. Pretty Boy’s a trained killer turned cyborg w. all the benefits that implies. Creepily, he can extend fiber-optic filaments from his eyes that can reach into victims´ brains and reprogram them.

    KORVAC (Tharok)
Both are half man, half machine. Korvac achieved godhood (or the next best thing) once, and is looking to do it again.

    BARON STRUCKER (Mano)
Both are very…handy! Strucker’s signature Satan Claw is a powerful energy weapon that can fry you from inside out.

    HOLOCAUST (Validus)
Both are the monstrous offspring of powerful parents. Holocaust is a living nuclear reactor that can poison everyone/everything around him if he cuts loose, and a physical juggernaut damn near impossible to put down in a fight.

    GOBLIN QUEEN (Emerald Empress)
Both have Royal codenames. GQ’s latent mutant powers, combined w. her demonic magic and anger, make her next level dangerous.

    AXEMAN BONE (The Persuader)
Unlike The Persuader, Bone’s Axe doesn’t have any special properties, but, he’s a badass Alien Warlord who lives for battle and thinks nothing of killing men/women/children…basically anyone he needs to, in pursuit of his goals.

For SOME reason, thought of this line-up today. The Avengers are dead. Presenting...

    THE NEW AVENGERS

Genis-Vell - Powerful son of a fallen hero attempting to carry on his father's legacy.
Nomad (Rikki Barnes) - Former sidekick and skilled combatant.
Namorita - Second generation fighter of an undersea kingdom.
Dazzler - Consistently underestimated mistress of light powers.
The Blizzard (Donny Gill) - Morally flexible wielder of ice powers.
    Spider-Man (Peter Parker) - Wisecracking bug-themed genius.
Human Torch (Johnny Storm) - Spider-Man's not-genius best friend and showboat.
Spider-Man (Miles Morales) - Legacy hero with a similar but different powerset.
    Slapstick - Cartoonish anarchy incarnate.
Man-Wolf - Classic monster reimagined as epic warrior.
Ultra Girl - Young alien warrior from the same race as Genis-Vell.

I like that lineup, especially since you brought back Ultra Girl.

Which Scarlet Spider, though, if I may ask?
The spider is always on the hunt.

Trying to think of a good summer theme team now that the weather is heating up and the beach and cool refreshments are calling my name. An Avengers "Summer Madness" Squad. Suggestions?

I like to not only create line-ups, but also to give it some thought as to develop relationships, plot threads and potential threats, so I took my time with a concept I've thrown around before, a line-up of characters who've never been Avengers before, but who could still hold their own as Earth's Mightiest Heroes. I came up with this:

The All-New, All-Different Avengers - All Those who have ever borne the name Avengers are called away to a battlefront on the other side of the universe, for a war upon which may be decided the fate of all existence, however, since that also includes a major portion of the Fantastic Four, the New Warriors and the X-Men, that leaves Earth really short in terms of super-human protectors, and the threats keep piling up, regardless.
So, Nick Fury Jr, takes it upon himself, making use of all of SHIELD’s resources, to assemble an all-new Avengers task-force, to stand in for the departed heroes and to protect the Earth from whatever threat may come its way.
American Eagle (Jason Strongbow)-Jason Strongbow is the first to be sought out by Fury, feeling that his new Avengers need an inspirational symbol, much like Captain America has ever been the focus point for the old team. He discarded other patriotic heroes, such as Union Jack, Guardian, and others, in favor of Strongbow, due to his background in law enforcement. Used to working alone, the American Eagle struggles with the leadership of the team, specially with Silver Sable attempting to take the role over from him at every chance she gets. However, smart and strong-willed, Jason manages to inspire more loyalty in his teammates than Sable does, and he soon starts to live up to the leadership potential that Fury saw in him. (15 T)
Sepulchre (Jillian Marie Woods) – Having fought at her side against the Thunderbolts during Osborn’s Dark Reign, Sepulchre was the first new member that Strongbow suggested after Fury contacted him. The two of them having formed a surprisingly strong bond in such a brief contact, Jillian does not hesitate in accepting the invitation, and she becomes a trusted confident for the American Eagle, as well as a powerful ally and teammate with her control over the dark force.
Silver Sable (Silvija Sablinova) – Upon hearing that a new Avengers team was being formed, Sable saw in this an opportunity to promote herself, and advance the cause of her nation. She offers herself to Fury as a new leader for the team, however, Fury had already selected the American Eagle for the spot, so, Sable decides to sabotage her rival as much as she can, in hopes of taking the leadership from him. However, despite her disruptive presence, Sable is a great tactician and strategist, as well as a superb hand-to-hand combatant, and proves herself to be a valuable member for the team.
Deathlok (Micheal Collins) – Fury had long suspected that the nanobots in Collins body that transformed him into Deathlok were not as inert as everyone was led to believe, and the current crisis was enough of an incentive for him to force Collins to reveal his hand. As the unstoppable combat machine Deathlok, as well as a computer expert and an unapparelled information gatherer, Collins becomes one of the most valuable of the team, and, most often than not, the voice of reason and experience. (90 T)
Madrox, The Multiple Man (Jamie Madrox) - The scientific mind of the bunch. People tend to forget Madrox was once Moira McTarget's assistant, and through his dupes, he's majored in many scientific fields. Despite his slightly unstable personality, Fury decides to bring him in. Time will tell if it was a sound move.
Thena, The Eternal - Fury knew his new Avengers would need some heavy-duty power to face the threats that were waiting in the wings, and he thought that the Eternals race, who had already provided the Avengers with two of its most powerful members, Gilgamesh and Sersi, would be a good place to start looking. He had his sight set on the most powerful of the Polar Eternals, Ikaris, however, it was Thena, due to her former allegiance with the Heroes for hire, and worried with how the Deviants may take advantage of this current lack of super-powered defenders facing Earth, who decided to follow him. Satisfied that he’d at least secured the aid of one godlike being to his team, Fury was surprised to find another one waiting for him back in New York. (35 T)
Leir, Lord of the Lightning and God of the Spear – The news that Thor and Hercules had been forced to leave the Earth unprotected having reached him, and that dark gods, such as Seth, might take the opportunity to move against the planet, led Lier to decide to offer his services to the heroes of Earth, at least while his godly friends prove to be unavailable. While easily in the same power range as the Asgardian and Olympian Avengers, the Celtic god however, proves to be not as effective as a teammate. Headstrong and brash, Lier is prone to act without thinking things through, however, it’s undeniable that his power alone makes him someone you want at your side in a crunch. (100 T)
Black Goliath (Tom Foster) – Fury has long thought that Tom Foster deserved a second chance at living up to his uncle’s name and reputation, as his scientific background as an M.I.T. graduate make him as attractive as his size-changing powers. (20 T)
Andromeda (Andromeda Attumasen) – Feeling that threats may come from all sides, Fury decides to seek out the warrior daughter of Attuma as an ally against threats that may come from under the sea. Once having been briefly part of the new Defenders, Andromeda revels in the sense of camaraderie she finds with some of her teammates, and sees in the American Eagle a leader as inspiring as her King, Namor. Her father, however, may not approve much of her stance in this. (30 T)
Azure Arcanna (Jennifer Kale) – Many times over, magic has proven to be quite a bit of trouble, with alarming frequency, so Fury finds it prudent to have someone with experience in dealing with that at his side, and Jennifer Kale is at the top of his short list of experts. Taking on the identity of Azure Arcanna, Jennifer proves to be quite an asset for the team.

While other heroes in other countries, such as Union Jack and Spitfire in Britain, Guardian in Canada, the Red Guardian in Russia, etc… and even the U.S., try to reorganize their own super-human resources, Shield sees the need of a premiere super-hero team for the whole world. Feeling the void left by the Avengers, some super-forces start to gather. Someone saw fit to bring the current Avenger’s leader’s deceased brother, Ward Strongbow, back to life, and the American Eagle will have to face an enemy as powerful as he is in the form of the Navajo Condor. This will lead to the formation of a New Masters of Evil, led by a major super-villainous figure, and with a few members with quite personal connections to the new Avengers line-up, such as the Formorian witch, Charma, who is looking for a new bearer for the Executioner’s Axe and Tiger Shark, looking to settle old debts with Andromeda. The Deviants put their schemes in action, which also brings Attuma into war with the surface world. The Shi’ar Death Squad have a target on Earth. And Seth really does make a move against the Earth. Plus, the completely unexpected return of Ngh, the Unspeakable!

    Peace
