Even Busiek and Perez couldn’t get Triathlon and Silverclaw over, though I liked them. Triathlon went on to take the 3D Man name and costume. I’m ok w. the name but didn’t like him in the old costume, so in my version he goes back to an earlier version of his own design.
Silverclaw hasn’t been seen since Civil War that I’m aware of.
Poor Singularity wound up getting killed off, but that’s never stopped a character before.
Voyager was a way more interesting version of the erased from reality hero than Sentry to me. She has great look, too.

This team has an Avengers vibe to it imo, w. a couple of energy wielding heavy hitters and a few characters on the lower end, more physical side of things.
These are cool! I'm particularly keen on seeing Voyager again, and always felt like Triathlon and Silverclaw got kind of a raw deal.

Silverclaw and Triathlon yeah, they were solid characters.
Maybe too old fashioned for the era they debuted in?

Catching up on some reading and got to thinking, w. Agents of Atlas discontinued…

…Amadeus Cho, his sister Maddy, and girlfriend Luna would make for an adventurous young FF type of team. Theres some similarities; you have the brother/sister combo ala Sue and Johnny, Luna works w. ice instead of flame, Amadeus is part Ben Grimm (the big guy) and part Reed Richards (the smart guy).

Only thing I’m drawing a blank on is a fourth member to round things out.
None of the other AoA characters really click for me, dang it.

Brian Braddock back to his proper name and costume as Captain Britain, and leading a new non mutant, non Krakoa Excalibur, the team he originally founded.

    Spider-Woman is second in command.

Dr. Druid is the resident magic guy.

Blade is the designated badass buttkicker.

Ka-Zar is the English Lord and Jungle King, always up for some action.

Crystal is the powerful, out of left field, odd duck member.

This is a really family oriented team, as Dr. Druid and Ka-Zar both have teenage sons; Ka-Zar also brings Shanna and Zabu to the mix. Brian, Spider-Woman, and Crystal all have younguns of their own.

Putting Crystal on the team sets up an inevitable Inhumans crossover complete w. mandatory team on team fight. Some decent matchups there. Brian/Black Bolt, Spider-Woman/Medusa, Blade/Karnak, Ka-Zar/Triton.
With Dr. Druid on the team we can get Morgan le Fay, Spider-Woman brings The High Evolutionary, Blade gets us Dracula, Ka-Zar brings Belasco. And they all have other bad guys to pull from. Could be fun.

Just a riff on Morrison’s Superman/Authority mash up.
Adam is working w. some pretty sketchy ppl and impressionable kids here. Hopefully there’s a good reason for it.
Sun God for Apollo, Shroud for Midnighter, Umar for Enchantress, Maximus for Manchester Black, Spectrum for Lightray, Death Locket for Omac, Ironheart for Natasha Irons.

    The Defenders:
Based loosely on DC's Birds of Prey (very loosely):
Julia Carpenter, getting glimpses of futures in which her powers wont be enough begins assembling teams based on what she sees through her precognition. While several heroes stay to help her on a regular basis, many are brought in as needed based on their abilities or other reason in which their presence plays an important role in ensuing battle.
    Julia Carpenter Madame Web
    Hellcat
    Tigra
    Wonder Man

Other notable appearances would include Carol Danvers, Jane Foster Valkyrie, Spider-Man, Jessica Drew.

Winter Guard – Russia’s media darlings and public super-heroes. Convince the Russian government to outlaw the former W.G. and to take their places.

    • Steel Guardian – LMDs of Anton Vanko.
    • Sibercat - Illya Lavrov, super agile, feline mutant. Maybe not quite on board as others may think.
    • Gatekeeper – Sasha Roerich, who returns from the dark dimension with the ability to generate teleportation portal discs to other places, using them for a variety of effects, such as flying or creating a vortex of lava from a nearby volcano or teleporting an enemy to the bottom of the ocean.
    • Ultra-Dynamo - Galina Nemirovsky, former pilot of the Crimson Dynamo suit of armor now wields the super-powerful suit of the Ultra-dynamo. (90 tons)
    • Vostok - Hybrid of man and alien machine able to fly and interface with any kind of machinery. Becoming more and more mechanical. Deemed too dangerous to be active in the Winter Guard. Activated only in emergencies. Vostok is also super-strong (40 tons).
    • Surge - Illarion Pavlovich Ramskov can transform his body into a super-strong (90 tons) nuclear energy form capable of emitting high energy blasts that accelerate reactions making things age and crumble. Ramskov energy form emits high levels of harmful radiation, so it must be encased in a protective armor. He reconstituted into a human form after the blast that destroyed the Wraith citadel, and now has to activate his energy form.
    • The New Devastator – Katrina Andreivitch, once trained to pilot of the Crimson Dynamo suit of armor now wields the micro-wave powered suit of the Devastator.

    Inactive members –

    • Perun – A man possessed by a mythical god of the storms. Deemed insane and too dangerous for the new media-friendly face of the Winter Guard. Activated only in emergencies. (100 T)
    • Seraph – The superhumanly strong spy. Seraph’s spy-work makes her unavailable for active status on the Winter Guard. Activated only in emergencies (25T) .
    • Siberian Wind – Female weather controlling mutant. Still in training.

People´s Protectorate – Former members of the Winter Guard who refused to join the new government-funded group and preferred to continue acting independently. The Protectorate is funded by the money the Gremlin made with his patents under false names.

    • Red Guardian – Josef Petkus, the shield bearing athlete and leader of the Winter Guard, returned from limbo where he was believed killed. A nuclear physicist and a military man all rolled-up in one. Something happened to Josef in limbo to elevate him to peak human.
    • Ursa Major – Mikhail Ursus. Mutant capable of transforming into a super-strong bear form. (30 T)
    • Crimson Dynamo – Various pilots in armored suit. (85T) Current pilot – Dimitri Bukaharin.
    • Darkstar –Laynia Petrovna inhabiting the body of a Wraith.
    • Vanguard - Nikolai Krylenko, mutant brother of Darkstar. Ability to repel kinetic energy. Gives up the role of Red Guardian, and puts his old weapons, the hammer and the sickle, back into use.
    • Fantasma - Mentalist, illusionist, able to link with anybody’s bio-aura. Fantasma is supremely loyal to Petkus, and there are hints of a romantic involvement between the two. Fantasma returned with Petkus from limbo, where she was substituted by a Wraith.
    • Airstrike – The Gremlin was discovered alive and living in secrecy by the former Steel Guardian, who later contacted him for help in establishing the new People’s Protectorate. Although the Gremlin prefers not to participate in field missions, in emergencies he pilots a flying arsenal, in the form of the new Airstrike armor.

Headquartered in the forbidden zone, the PP also occasionally can count on the help of the cosmically powered Starlight, who was rescued from Limbo.

    Peace

One part Image’s Youngblood, one part DC’s Conglomerate, one part boredom.

A team of actors, actresses, singers, social media darlings, extreme sports spokesmen, reality TV stars, and corporate pitchmen. Their goal is to do good deeds while getting as much publicity as possible for themselves, and their sponsors, while raising the asking price for their individual endeavors.

    Wonderman
    Aralune
    Screwball
    Alpha
    Radiance
    Rocket Racer
    Longshot
    NFL Superpro

    Nothing incredible today.
I read an article here on CBR about the similarities between Manchester Black and Quentin Quire, so doing a quick Elite type team for Quentin.

    QUENTIN QUIRE
Never been a huge fan of his, but he does have a lot of potential. I like that he’s credible as both protagonist and antagonist.

    GENTLE
His powers don’t match up w. Coldcast but Gentle fits the role of team muscle/big shirtless black guy. His vibranium tattoos often have a cool energy effect when he’s doing his thing.

    SHINOBI SHAW
Another pick where it’s looks (young handsome well dressed Asian guy) over powers that decided me. Shaw’s molecular density control is pretty cool, same as his ability to scramble someone’s molecules.

    FANTASIA
Menagerie’s bonded w. alien symbeasts that let her assume all sorts of lethal otherworldly forms. Fantasia IS an alien. A Dire Wraith able to go full body horror to take victims out.

    Wasp (Chairwoman)
    Hank Pym
    The Vision
    She-Hulk
    USAgent
    Iron Patriot

I feel like this team would generate opportunities for some interesting character dynamics. You could have a Kirk/Spock/McCoy Freudian trio with Jan, Viz, and Hank. You could play up Hank and Jan as amicable exes who are now friends, back together in a relationship, or as a 'will they or won't they' type of thing. She-Hulk could be back to her funny, sexy, sassy self. A more conservative John Walker and liberal Toni Ho would be political opposites, à la Hawkman and Green Arrow, who could either come to respect each other more over time or remain hostile.
    Wanna make somethin' of it?

    THAT is really great!
It has a familiar feel while being a fresh line up, and the potential interactions really ARE fun to think about. I particularly like the amicable exes angle for Hank and Jan. Most writers never try and go deep w. them. Walker and Ho debating w. She-Hulk and Vision egging them on and or calling them out would be a blast.

A new Force Works team based on an old X Force line up and mission statement.

    US AGENT
Having been put in charge of a group of teens, kids, and young adults, US Agent’s going to put them all through Basic Training and turn them into an effective first response/strike team.

    JULIA CARPENTER
The former Spider-Woman and US Agent have some history together, so she’s okay w. being his second in command on this team. Better known for her precog abilities nowadays, ppl forget she still has her formidable spider powers. US Agent hasn’t forgotten, though.

    GRAVITY
This kid is slowly evolving into one of the most powerful beings on the planet, and US Agent's going to make sure he has a healthy respect for that, and knows how to take charge of his fellow heroes when he needs to.

    RAGE
Having started out as an Avenger before becoming a New Warrior, Rage is the most experienced of US Agent’s team. A child in a man’s body, Rage is a class 90 brick w. the Hulk like ability to amp his strength as he gets angry. US Agent’s going to enjoy giving Rage a few pointers.

    SILVERCLAW
In the Country on the superhuman version of a Work Visa, being on the team fulfills Silverclaw’s obligations, but she’s giving the bare minimum in terms of effort. US Agent knows there’s potential there, but he’s going to have to work hard to pull it out of her.

    BLINDSPOT
Though he wishes Blindspot would use something a little deadlier than a bo staff, US Agent will admit, the kid’s good. He’s received combat tracing from both Daredevil and The Hand; his high tech suit increases his physical stats, speed, resistance to injury, and can make him invisible to the naked eye for a few minutes at a time. A few minutes is usually more than enough for Blindspot to then finish off his opponents.

    ENERGIZER
Able to convert solid matter into energy balls w. varying degrees of destructive power, Energuzer’s definitely an asset. She’s still very much a child though, and pretty mad she and her siblings were all split up and put on different teams. US Agent’s going to have his hands full here, as he doesn’t really want to go full R. Lee Ermey on her.
