    Edit,
The real time aspect you used would really lend itself to a “Life Story” series like Spidey and the FF have had.
Thanks. I even added some stuff over the weekend.

The 64th Century showman who uses advanced tech to simulate magic is an unrepentant villain, so when he comes across a villainous realities shattering plot so awful even he wouldn’t do it, he finds himself in the odd position of trying to save the day. Like Dr. Strange when he recruited the original Defenders, Abra Kadabra knows he needs help on this, and he sticks w. what he knows. Villains.

    EARTH MAN (Namor, The Sub-Mariner)
Earth Man, who can duplicate the powers of his opponents to use against them has, in true Namor fashion, fought heroes, and fought with heroes, in order to achieve his goals. Either way, as a militant xenophobe, he has a Namor-ish better than you attitude, when it comes to dealing w. aliens. Not counting Abra, Earh Man would only just tolerate, and straight up not get along w., his other teammates

THE GALACTIC GOLEM (The Silver Surfer)
The Golem was forged by collecting matter from the heart of the universe, molding it into a humanoid form, and giving it life. Though silent, the Golem is def. self aware and capable of speech; it doesn’t advertise that though, as ppl tend to speak freely in front of it thinking its just an automaton. The Golem can generate hyperstellar energy, and is strong, fast, and durable enough to fight and even injure Superman.

    DESPERO (The Hulk)
Despero is a Hulking (pun intended) alien despot easily as devious and murderous as The Maestro. A certified team wrecker Despero has singlehandedly fought the Big Guns of both the JLA and JSA to a standstill, even lifting the Rock of Eternity at one point. Add top tier psychic ability to all that physical power and you’ve got a total package. Despero usually reserves the right to turn on his allies, but he might not in this case. The threat Abra Kadabra’s come to him for help w. isn’t the type one can simply show up and try to join forces w. which offends Despero’s sensibilities.
Now, this is quite intriguing. I like it.

^^^I started out to build a cartoon version of the Fantastic Four, but wound up going in a Terrifics direction. My version’s 4 characters from as many realities that are all pulled into an omniversal occurrence by happenstance and decide to stay together and continue adventuring.

    STANFORD PINES (Mr. Terrific)
A certified genius and omnidisciplinary scientist w. a fixation on dimensional travel. Now in his early Seventies, 30 years stuck traveling the multiverse seems to have slowed his physical aging; he’s no super athlete but can easily keep up w. ppl half his age in terms of running, jumping, etc. He’s also pretty good in a fight and routinely carries a variety of incredibly powerful/dangerous devices on his person, like an infinity-sided die for the game Dungeons, Dungeons & More Dungeons that can mess with the entire space-time continuum and can cause infinite unpredictable outcomes.

    DANI PHANTOM (Phantom Girl)
Dani is the Half-ghost/Half-human Clone of Danny Fenton, one of several clones created by his arch enemy Vlad Masters (think Spider-man’s Clone Saga but more fun). She originally met her “third cousin once removed” when she was 12 years old as Vlad used her in a plot to defeat Danny. She wound up turning on Vlad, who she considered her father after he almost let her die in order to beat Danny. She was eventually adopted into the Fenton family, making her Danny’s younger sister. Now sixteen she’s a hero in her own right. Her Human/Ghost physiology gives her a wide range of powers which include invisibility (of course), intangibility, possession, spectral senses etc.

    KEVIN LEVIN (Metamorpho)
Though only in his early twenties, Kevin has been adventuring, as both a hero and a villain for over a decade. He started out as an ally to Ben Tennyson before quickly becoming his enemy. He wound up doing hard time in an other dimensional prison called the Null Void, from which he was eventually freed, going back to Earth and becoming a shady but way more heroic person. He became an ally to Ben Tennyson and even dated Ben’s cousin Gwen for several years. Though it’s manifested in many different ways, Kevin’s superpower is absorption. He started out w. energy, then alien abilities which made him a monster for a time, before focusing on and mastering matter absorption, taking the properties of whatever he touches.

    RUBBERBAND MAN (Plastic Man)
An aspiring rapper, Adam Evans was screwed over by his record producer who stole his music and his money. Beat down and broke, after he gained his powers in the Big Bang, Adam tried to get revenge on the man who ruined him only to be beaten by the young hero, Static and doing jail time. At age 28, Adam eventually got out on good behavior and started using his powers productively, while still pursuing his music goals. Adam is made of rubber, able to stretch and (like Plastic Man) change his body into any shape. He can even shapeshift to a degree, morphing his facial features and physical proportions.

Thought I'd try expanding on the JSA idea I had a while ago by making a line-up based on WWII heroes and their legacy characters.
Human Torch and Vision have been surpassed by others who share their names, much like Jay Garrick and Allen Scott. I was looking for a speedster and Spitfire fit the bill to round out the core trio. The two Red Ravens stand in for Hawkman and Hawkgirl as a father-daughter duo instead of husband and wife. American Dream is a alternate reality female version of America's greatest hero, so she seemed a decent substitute for Power Girl. Nuklo and Radiance are descendants of WWII heroes (Whizzer and Miss America and Golden Girl/Woman, respectively). Amadeus Cho, when he first appeared, shared the name Mastermind Excello with a Golden Age hero, so I used him as a Mr. Terrific equivalent, another genius hero with no connection to his Golden Age namesake. The Thin Man is a surviving member of the Liberty Legion. Citizen V (John Watkins III) is another descendant of a WWII hero, the original Citizen V. Sun Girl is another heroine who merely shares a name with a Golden Age hero. Phantom Blonde, who appeared in a handful of She-Hulk issues, is the daughter of the Blonde Phantom. I thought Patriot (Eli Bradley) and Iron Cross would be a couple of nice additions to round out the team.
I generally tried to base this off the Geoff Johns lineup from the 2000s, which saw characters like Thom Kallor, Damage, and Cyclone join.

Having been reading quite a lot of back-issue classics, I'm recently enjoying coming up with whole world's of what-if scenários. For exemple, this one, which I call a "Simpler World", in which most of the Big Guns of the super-hero set are no longer pieces on the board, and the heroes who remain have to up their game, becoming all they can, to compensate for the absence of the most powerful (I went up right up to the middle of the 70's). Namor and Hulk died battling each other. Cap was never found and taken out of ice. Thor left for good for Asgard. Herc never came back to Earth. Iron Man’s health issues become more serious, forcing him to retire the armor. Without Cap’s return, Zemo never comes out of hiding, the Master of Evil are never formed, and Simon Williams never becomes Wonder Man (though Eric Josten does find a way to get ionically powered up, becoming the second-rate Power Man version). Hank never creates Ultron, so no Vision. The Avengers barely manage to go on for a few months before Thor and Iron Man leave for good, but Giant Man and the Wasp refuse to throw the towel.

    • Giant Man – Hank Pym works hard on refining his size-changing powers, avoiding most health issues and becoming stronger than ever. At 12 feet, Hank can bench press about 7 to 9 tons. At his usual height of 20 – 25 feet, Giant Man is able to bench press from 15-18 tons, at 40 feet Pym is in the 30 tons class, and at 50, Hank is able to handle over 40 tons. Pym can also shrink, becoming Ant Man. As one of the last active founding members, Hank becomes the Avengers leader, its mainstay in terms of strength, and one of the leading scientific minds behind the team.
    • Wasp – Janet Van Dyne also has her powers strengthened and refined by Pym, becoming stronger and faster in her insect form, and her Wasp stingers, now inbuilt, become a real force to be reckoned with, becoming able to punch through three feet concrete walls, armor and more.
    • Hawkeye – The Avengers first recruit, after Thor leaves. Iron Man sponsors Hawkeye’s membership, and though he is hot-tempered and brash, Clint Barton soon becomes the living symbol of the Avengers’ spirit. His special arrows and his incredible marksmanship are an asset for the team.
    • Spider-Man – Peter Parker is recruited to substitute Iron Man, when Tony Stark’s health issues prevent him from remaining with the team. Membership in the Avengers totally transforms Spider-Man’s life, giving him the credibility he always lacked. Iron Man even convinces the US federal government to accept Spider-Man and continue supporting the team after he leaves, though his money still keeps the team running. Spider-Man is super-strong in the class 10 range, agile, fast, and no slouch in the science department. Peter’s youth and enthusiasm bring the team together, and he develops strong friendships with Hank and Clint, who sort of become his mentors. In the absence of Captain America, Spider-Man becomes the linchpin of THIS team.
    • Quicksilver – Pietro Maximoff joins alongside his sister shortly after Iron Man leaves, expanding the team as never before. Though not the most social of people, Quicksilver’s fantastic speed and ability to glide short distances are an asset to the team.
    • Scarlet Witch – Wanda Maximoff is potentially the most powerful member of the team with her unpredictable probability altering Hex spheres and her dabbling into the occult, both of which she makes an effort to improve. Jan’s friendship helps bolster Wanda’s independence and self-confidence.
    • Black Widow – Also an agent of SHIELD, Natasha Romanova joins the team part-time, becoming the team’s liaison with the peacekeeping organization. A lethal hand to hand combatant, the Widow also wields powerful energy discharging “widow bites.”
    • Mimic – Not being a mutant, Calvin Montgomery Rankin does not get along well with, nor does he feel welcome at the X-Men, who seem to resent his artificially induced ability to copy their powers. So, when he begins to feel his powers fluctuate, he decides to seek the world’s greatest biochemist, and the leader of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, Hank Pym, instead of continuing to rely on the mutant super-heroes. Pym does manage to stabilize Rankin’s powers, however, a negative aspect of this stabilization, is that he can only retain the powers and abilities he has already copied, and not gain new ones, although, on a positive side, he never gets to the point of absorbing other people’s life-force. Still, Rankin is invited to join the Avengers, greatly enhancing the team’s might, with the strength, agility and smarts he got from the Beast, the winged flight he got from the Angel, Ice-Man’s ability to manipulate temperature and moisture, Cyclops’ powerful optic blasts, as well as his skill as a strategist and tactician, Marvel Girl’s telekinesis, and Professor X’s telepathy. Arrogant at first, Rankin comes to mature as an Avenger, becoming a trusted member of the team, as well as one of its mainstays. 4 T.
    • The Black Panther – T’Challa joins at Iron Man’s request, but, though a loyal and efficient member, the Panther seems to have his own agenda. Like the Widow, with her position at SHIELD, The Panther’s diplomatic responsibilities often keep him away from his Avengers duties. Superhumanly agile, the Panther is also a scientific genius.
    • Stingray -Dr. Walter Newell. In Namor’s absence, the seas become a very dangerous place, with Lemurians, Atlanteans and Deviants vying for dominance. This leads the oceanographer to develop a high-tech pressurized deep dive suit, which enhances his strength, allows him to travel at high speeds underwater and through the air, and has a variety of offensive and defensive weapons, in order to protect Hydrobase and other aquatic research stations. Newell ends up becoming a legend all around the oceans of the world, and the Avengers top operative, when it comes to underwater action. 20 T.
    • The Black Knight – Armed with an invincible magic sword, a flying horse and a powerful energy lance, physicist Dane Withman becomes the last member of the second phase of the Avengers, and a member who, based in England, only joins the team occasionally.

This team of Avengers enjoy a much closer relationship with the Fantastic Four, considering the tight ties between Hank and Jan and Reed Richards and Sue, the rivalry/friendship between Spider-Man and Johnny Storm and frequent Poker buddies Ben Grim and Hawkeye. It's a closer relationship that brings advantages to both teams, having such powerful back-up at their fingertips. The X-Men continue pretty much as the did in the time-line we're familiar with, with the exception of the lesser participation of the Mimic in the team. Independent operators such as Daredevil, Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell), Moon Knight and Dr. Strange, among others, are occasionally valuable allies.

    Future members –

    • The Guardsman – Engineer Kevin O’Brian, Tony Stark’s new armored body-guard. A constant ally that eventually becomes a member. 50 T. After he is killed in action, is replaced by Jim Rhodes as the suit’s pilot.
    • Namorita – Nita Prentiss. Never having met her famous cousin, Namor, Namorita came to the surface world seeking help with the Civil War that Namor’s death sparked among the underwater realms. She sought out Namor’s long-time ally, Betty Dean Prentiss, who took her under her wing, and introduced her to the Avengers. Despite her youth, Nita was soon inducted into the team, becoming one of its most powerful members, as well as a frequent ally of Stingray in his underwater adventures. 30 T
    • Power Man – Luke Cage. The Hero for Hire is eventually is invited to join the team, who ends up helping him prove his innocence. 25T.
    • Spider Woman – Jessica Drew. At fist infiltrates the team for Hydra, but soon decides that her loyalties really lie with the Avengers. 7 T
    • Nova – Richard Rider. The brand-new hero meets Spider-Man early in his career, who, seeing a lot of himself in the young Rocket Man, invites him to boost the ranks of the Avengers. 15 T.

AS many of the most powerful heroes were removed from the board, many of the most powerful foes also don’t come into existence. However, there are still plenty of threats to go around, and, less powerful, the heroes will need all their wits to triumph.

Major enemies – Kang, Immortus, Nefaria, Mandarin, the Lethal Legion (Melter, Power Man, Eel, Swordsman, Porcupine, Egghead, Madam Masque, Living Laser), the Sinister Six (Doc Octopus, the Vulture, Electro, the Rhino, Kraven the Hunter, Mysterio), the Collector, Attuma.

    Peace

Also, What if The Avengers really had died fighting Korvac?

The Avengers Battle against Korvac actually is to the death, and, at the end, only Thor and Moon Dragon are left standing. However, the world can´t go on without its Mightiest Heroes. The threats continue, so the Beast, one of the last surviving members, makes it his life mission to re-assemble a team.

    Initial Team:

    • Beast _ Team Leader. Guilt-ridden for having been awol helping the X-Men during the Avenger’s final battle with Korvac. While the X-Men are also believed dead, Hank McCoy would rather rebuild a team accepted and embraced by the whole world, than one feared and hated, like the X-Men were. The Beast is amazingly agile, superhumanly strong (4T), and a scientific genius.
    • Moon-Dragon _ Feeling responsible for the death of the Avengers, for she froze during the battle against Korvac, Heather Douglas is fiercely committed to making this second go of the team work, going as far as sometimes overstepping her boundaries. Aside from having amazing mental powers, which, she believes, rises her to the status of goddess, Moonie is also familiarized with advanced technology and an incredible martial artist.
    • Nomad _ Rick Jones had a hand in the first gathering of the Avengers, and having lost two father figures, and former partners, in the last battle of the original team, is adamant in having a more important role in this new team. Thus, the Beast outfits him with a bullet-proof / fire-proof costume patterned after the Bucky costume he used to wear, and the Falcon and Moon-Dragon do their best to train his body to its uppermost limit. Taking the name of Nomad (a former identity of Captain America), Rick also receives an adamantium shield patterned after Cap’s first shield.
    • The Falcon _ Having been Captain America’s former partner and occasional ally of the original team, the high-flying Falcon is happy to help forge a new legend. Sam Wilson is a formidable hand to hand fighter and an experienced aerial combatant.
    • Crystal _ The inhuman elemental decides to join the new team in honor of her dead husband’s, Quicksilver, memory. Crystal Maximoff can control fire, water, earth and air.
    • Jocasta _ Re-built after being almost completely destroyed in the battle with Korvac, although having received considerably less damage than the Vision, who, aside from having his body damaged, had his personality and programming completely erased, and having no place else to go, Jocasta joins the new team, bringing much needed power to it. Having been coated with an outer-layer of super hard omnium-steel, Jo is much harder to damage now, her strength levels have been almost doubled (25T), and her eye-beams are as potent as ever. Jocasta is also able to interface with most computers and machines, having herself incredible capacity for storing and processing information, and her cybernetic senses are also incredibly useful.
    • Giant-Man _ Although reluctant to join the team, Bill Foster accepts to help in the search of the Hulk, and causes a battle that almost destroys the new Avengers before they begin. Although he becomes a recurring technical advisor, and reserve member, Giant-Man sees fit to leave the team after its first mission, especially considering his health problems. Able to increase his size and mass, Giant-Man can also become super-strong (12T).
    • The Hulk _ Founding member of the original team, The Hulk becomes the backbone in terms of power for the second incarnation of the Avengers, as well as the focus of their first mission. Having his fractured psyche merged with the help of the mental powers of Moon-Dragon and the psychological expertise of Doc Samson, a new Hulk, with the raw power and the aggressiveness of the previous incarnations of the Hulk, plus the intelligence of Bruce Banner is born. No one is stronger than Hulk! (100T)

Faced with a whole lot of distrust and lack of faith from the general public and the authorities in general, especially without counting with the credibility of members like Captain America, Thor, Yellow Jacket, Iron Man and others, and being led by a mutant and having former menaces like the Hulk, and artificial members like Jocasta, and so many unknown and untested variables among them, the team at first has an uphill battle to prove itself, and becomes a target of every villain wanting to make a name for himself, however they soon show themselves worthy of the name Avengers, especially being able to rely on the power and savagery of a Hulk guided by the intelligence of a Bruce Banner. The changes the team eventually suffers, as well as the challenges overcome, make it easier for them to gain the public's trust, and soon the Avengers are once more known as Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

    Former, Reserves and Future Members:

    • Thor _ Devastated by the death of his comrades, Thor decides to leave Earth forever. But not before leaving enough gold to give the new team a good head start. (100T)
    • Hellcat _ Patsy Walker decides she is better off remaining with the Defenders.
    • The Black Knight _ One of the very first missions of the new team is to return to the past to rescue this former Avenger. Replacing Black Goliath in the line-up, the Kinght’s presence brings new credibility to the team in the eyes of the press, and once the Beast steps down, Dane Whitman becomes the next leader of the team. As a renowned physicist, Dane also serves well the team in a scientific capacity.
    • Quasar _ Promoted to Protector of the Universe after Captain Marvel’s precocious death. Seeks out the team for guidance and is invited to join.
    • Tigra _ Greer Nelson starts to make a name for herself as super-hero in the west coast, which draws the attention of the team to her. When they seek her out, are also introduced to another west coat super-heroine in the rise. 5 T.
    • Spider-Woman _ Jessica Drew is introduced to the Avengers by her feline friend, Tigra, and, despite being based on the west coast, also accepts their invitation to join the team. 7 T.
    • Guardsman _ Jim Rhodes becomes the bodyguard of Bethany Cabe, the new CEO of Stark International, by donning the new blue and silver armor of the Guardsman. A top-secret product belonging to and developed by Stark International, the armor is an amalgam of the original Guardsman armor with the Eternity Man’s, plus a Thing exo-skeleton developed by Reed Richards. A constant ally of the Avengers, Jim is soon invited to join, greatly boosting its power levels. (70T)
    • Yellow Jacket _ One of Stark International's Chief-Engineers, former inmate Scott Lang used the equipment the company confiscated from the deceased Hank Pym, for a personal mission, to save his own daughter. Coming clean with CEO Bethany Cabe and Jim Rhodes, Lang was allowed to retain the equipment and serve as an extra-official agent of the company as the new Yellow Jacket, who quite often joins the Guardsman on the field, helping him with his technological knowhow. So much so, that he too is soon invited to join the Avengers.
    • Doc Samson _ Although he declines full membership at first, Doc eventually agrees to become a reserve member of the team, occasionally helping them, specially because he is worried about the Hulk and doesn’t trust Moon-Dragon. (75T)

    Peace

A good one! Ever since I read the classic Korvac series I often wondered who would have taken the place of the fallen Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy. Of course, Marvel would eventually publish its take in the pages of What If? Still, I prefer to hear what the fans would have come up with as the next incarnation of Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

I really like this what if stuff. I was thinking about a whole "What if Bucky had been found by the Avengers instead of Steve Rogers?"
After being unfrozen by the original members, Buck Barnes takes on the mantle of Captain America to honor his fallen comrade, despite being only 19-20 at the time he is frozen. When Giant-Man, Wasp, Thor, and Iron Man leave, he remains to lead the new team. This Avengers team is tied much more closely to SHIELD and Nick Fury than the main timeline. Cap's Kooky Quartet features Hawkeye and Black Widow, defecting from the Russians, and Spider-Man, who breaks in to the mansion and applies for membership, much to the chagrin of the Avengers. Due to the relative youth and inexperience of the team, Nick Fury acts as de facto chairman, sending the team on peacekeeping missions for SHIELD, while Buck Barnes remains as the team's field leader.

The What if scenario really is tons of fun. I was a huge fun of the original run, and liked the vol. 2 when it started, however, it seemed to loose a bit of interest for me, after the Watcher was taken out of the series, and then they began to favor always darker stories, which really are not all that fun for me. Around Avengers vol. 3 (the Busiek run) Annual #1 (the Busiek and Pacheco Avengers/Squadron Supreme team-up) I even came up with an idea for a dimensional-hopping lost team of Avengers, visiting many different What If realities, sometimes taking an active role, others just nudging things in the direction they believe to be right, and other simply acting as Watchers (that was before Exiles came out). As for what scenários I'm thinking about, there are two I'm developing. The first one is the flip side to What If vol. 2 #114, entitled Secret Wars 25 years later. It covers the life of Marvel Super-Heroes in case they had remained in Battleworld. My story would be: What If The Marvel Super-Heroes Had Never Returned From The Secret Wars? And it would cover how the heroes remaining on Earth, the ones who didn't go to Battleworld, would reorganize themselves. The second one, which I'm particularly excited about, is called What If The Heroes Hadn't Returned From The Heroes Return World? Like the first one, this demands quite a lot of work, for I have to get an idea of who was around at the time, what was their status quo at the time, and what I'd have to do to get them where I wanted them. But, especially in the second case, I have to say I'd be VERY intrested in seeing Marvel taking it's Universe ahead without it's biggest players. When I'm confident I have all the boxes checked, I'll post them here.

    Peace

You got me thinking of What If type teams.

This is what happens back in 1983 when Cap goes the Batman route, quits the Avengers and forms his own team. Cap names team The Patriots instead of The outsiders.

    Captain America
    Put this team together.

    The Falcon
Cap’s SiC, Falcon always has Cap’s back.

The Vision and The Scarlet Witch
Have always respected and trusted Cap.

    POWERMAN AND IRON FIST
Are kinda proud that Cap chose them for the team.

    NOVA
A young hero in need of direction. Who better than Cap?

But, especially in the second case, I have to say I'd be VERY interested in seeing Marvel taking it's Universe ahead without it's biggest players. When I'm confident I have all the boxes checked, I'll post them here.

    Peace
These seem interesting. I wonder who would've risen to prominence with most of the heavy hitters gone. The Secret Wars one, especially, since it also took most major villains off of the table. Who would step up to fill the shoes of Dr. Doom? Who would lead the Avengers? What becomes of the X-Men with both Prof. X AND Magneto gone, along with a lot of the students? So many possibilities...
