I was looking to put together a team of Marvel robots and call them the Metal Men.

I realized I was just making a big meandering list of characters so I backtracked and made a line up based on a pre-existing team so as to have some kind of actual structure.

Went w. The Challengers of The Unknown; leader, action girl, big guy, young guy, pilot.

    X-51 (“Prof.” Haley)
I’ve always been a fan of Machine Man, both the heroic original version and the more recent edgier one. Plus, he’s been dating…

    JOCASTA (June Robbins)
Jocasta needs no introduction really. She’s a solid, powerful character; an underrated ex-Avenger who’s been part of some great stories.

    ARSENAL ALPHA (“Rocky” Davis)
A.A. was the incredibly powerful Cold War creation of Howard Stark. Nearly scrapped but now fully self aware thanks to Machine Man and Jocasta, he’s incredibly loyal to them and the team.

    MACHINE TEEN (“Red” Ryan)
Had to get creative w. the pic, as Adam (Autonomously Decisive Automated Mechanism) Aaronson has been pretty badly drawn in his few appearances. Anyway, he’s the fun loving reckless one.

    BAYMAX (“Ace” Morgan)
Ace was the second biggest/toughest Challenger, and Baymax is second biggest on this team, though not nearly as powerful/durable as certified team wrecker Arsenal Alpha. His programming allows him to adapt to the controls of any flight oriented vehicle to include all documented alien spacecraft.

    STINGRAY (Captain Storm)
    The oceanic adventurer.

    AMERICAN EAGLE (Johnny Cloud)
    Eagles fly among the clouds.

JOHN WALKER & LEMAR HOSKINS (Gunner & Sarge)
The gung ho battle buddy team.

    CAPTAIN UNIVERSE (Dr. Manhattan)
The super man exists, and he’s American.

    THE LAUGHING MASK (The Comedian)
Continues his violent activities while on the Government’s payroll.

    THE OPERATIVE (Rorschach)
He not only questions authority, he defies it.

    THE BLONDE PHANTOM (Silk Spectre)
The battling bombshell turned Hollywood starlet. Grooming her daughter to take her place one day.

    THE BLACK FOX (Nite-Owl)
His high tech gadgets and old fashioned fisticuffs made him the scourge of the underworld.

    THE URANIAN (Ozymandias)
The press briefly called him “Marvel Boy”, when he arrived to save the world. And he WILL save the world.

This one’s not based on any other team, just an Alph Flight line up I’d like to see…:

    SHAMAN
    Stepping up as team leader.

    TALISMAN
Whatever her dad can’t handle magically, she sure can.

    MAJOR MAPLELEAF
    A real life Dudley Do-Right.

    PUCK II
Major Mapleleaf’s better half, proving opposites attract.

    PUCK
On the team at the request of his old pal, Shaman.

    MARRINA
Back on land and out of retirement.

    BOX II
The son of the original Box. He has a lot to prove.

Well, since everbody is posting their version of Alpha Flight (a team I love, but that I think has rearely lived up to its potential), here's mine:

Alpha Flight to Omega Flight -

Seeing part of it’s super-human defenders co-opted by the new Alpha Flight (which also stole the rights to the name), Canada and Department H are forced to reactivate Omega Flight as its prime super-human defenders.

    • Guardian – James McDonald Hudson. A mix of Professor X, Reed Richards and Captain America, all rolled up in one. Although he has never felt comfortable in the position, Mac is “the” leader of Alpha Flight. Most of its members owe either their lives, their freedom or even their sanity to Hudson, sometimes all of the above. Hudson is one of the world’s top engineers. The suit he created has electromagnetic abilities that, among others, allow him to fly at amazing speeds, shoot plasma blasts, generate force-fields and bench press over 15 tons. Reluctantly assuming the command of Omega Flight, Mac is trying to mend fences with his wife, Heather, as well as raise their child, Claire.
    • Marrina – Marrina Smallwood. The alien girl is probably, alongside Wildheart, the most popular team member, especially among the Canadian youth. At home in water, Marrina is no less a threat outside of it, with her body adapted to the depths giving her amazing strength and speed on land. 25 T.
    • Snowbird – Annie McKenzie, or Narya, the goddess of the team, even without her amazing shape-shifting powers, which enable her to take the form of any animal of the north, her godlike form is almost invulnerable to harm, able to heal, fly and has impressive strength. 45 T.
    • Shaman – Micheal Two-Young-Men. The north’s master of all things mystic. Omega Flight’s second in command in the field.
    • Wildheart – Kyle Gibney. Omega Flight’s personal combat expert. Has a crush on Marrina.
    • Box – Madison Jeffries. With his technokinetic and technoempathic abilities at their peak, Jeffries has rebuilt the Box armor and is arguably the current team’s strongest member, as well as one of it’s most powerful and versatile. 90 T
    • Nemesis – Amelia Weatherly wields a powerful mystic sword which can cleave though almost any substance, keeps her in peak condition and health, and also grants her the ability of flight. After she and Centennial went separate ways, Amelia was recruited by Department H, which gave her no choice but to join.

    Reserve Members:

Vindicator – Heaher McNeil Hudson has a deal with her husband. They are never to go into the field at the same time, as to never leave their child bereft of the presence of both her parents again, as such, she rarely uses the Vindicator suit anymore, even if she is still an active member of the Omega Flight support crew. It’s micro-wave based technology allows her to cause earth tremors, geysers, and to fire heated plasma, as well as flight and a personal force-field.
Centennial - Rejuvenated about fifty years in a battle with Kang, Centennial is now more interested in enjoying life than fighting crime, however, if his country, and Omega, need him, his great power, of flight, superhuman strength (60 T) and virtual invulnerability, will be at their service.
Pathway – Teenager Laura Dean declines to serve permanently with Omega Flight because of her studies and the disappearance of both, her foster sister Persuasion and real twin sister Goblin. Unbeknownst to her, both have been recruited by Alpha Strike. Pathway is a teleporter.
Windshear – Currently living in England, Windshear also declined permanent membership. Generates hard air constructs.
Feedback – Also not interested in becoming a full-time super-hero, although Alpha Strike might not give him a choice. Electric abilities.

Alpha Strike-The Black Ops team under the control of General Clarke.

    • Wyre – Team Leader. With his healing factor, enhanced athletic abilities, tracking skills, and weapon expertise, Wyre is the ultimate soldier, and killer.
    • Tygerstryke – Captain John Anderson, Weapon Prime´s Second in Command. A former RCAF officer who wields the results of one of the Canadian government’s first attempts to copy James McDonald Hudson’s designs for the Guardian suit. The Flying Shark suit is capable of flight at amazing speeds and of generating an energy force field capable of disintegrating matter at contact. Although Anderson is incapable of extending the field beyond his person, the suit also grants him a measure of super-strength. 10 T
    • Persuasion – Young Kara Killgrave is vital to the Alpha Strike program due to her ability in controlling Yeti, the team’s powerhouse. Kara has also become a skilled hand-to-hand combatant, using a staff which can fire energy blasts as her weapon of choice. Constantly harassed by Radius, who she strongly dislikes, and feeling no real connection of affinity with anyone else in the team, Kara has established a strong friendship with Goblyn, whom she considers a sister
    • Citadel – The man encased in an invulnerable adamantium armor. 15 T.
    • Radius – Jared Corbo is a mutant with the ability to create impregnable force-fields. Arrogant and selfish, Jared still manages to be a great asset for the team in terms of power. Radius had been de-powered by M-Day, however, a risky experiment gave him back his powers.
    • Yeti – A savage creature captured by the Canadian authorities and, despite its savagery, placed with Weapon Prime due to its great strength. The Yeti is controlled by Persuasion and a pain inducing collar when she is unavailable. 75 T
    • Goblyn – Laura Dean’s savage sister, with claws that can tear steel to pieces. The team’s tracker and Persuasion’s best friend in the group.
    • Moonraker – The real Slade Truman of our dimension, a sergeant for the RCMP and a former Special Ops for the Canadian Army who was now teaching at the RCMP academy just outside of Calgary. Having once volunteered for one of his government’s failed experiments, this Slade, later on, discovered that he now possessed the power of the electrical fire they call Corposant. Truman preferred to keep his powers a secret and lead a normal life. Aside from the amazingly powerful Corposant Fire and his soldier training, Slade is super-humanly fast and agile. Becomes a confident for Persuassion as well as a protector for her and Goblyn.

    Peace

And I thought of this scenário that would work nicely during Norman Osborn's Dark Reign, though no longer in effect. Reminder, during this time, the majority of Alpha Flight was dead.

Omega Flight to Alpha Flight -

Alpha Flight - When Omega Flight begins to be overrun by American operatives and suffering even greater oversight by H.A.M.M.E.R and the American government, who are starting to fill their ranks with American patriotic-themed heroes and supposedly reformed American super-villains, nominal team-leader Sasquatch decides to fire all American operatives and disband the team. He then seeks out surviving former teammates in Alpha Flight to recreate the Canadian super-hero team. The new Alpha serves under the Canadian Secret Intelligence Service, and agent Brown is its C.S.I.S. liaison.

    • Sasquatch – Team-leader Walter Langkowski. Concerned with the increase in the number of American operatives involved in defending Canada against super-human threats, Sasquatch decides to disband Omega Flight and bring back Alpha Flight manned by Canadian super-heroes. Sasquatch seeks out many of the surviving former members of AF, succeeding in locating and recruiting many, but suspicious that quite a few were nowhere to be found. Reluctant to lead, Walter hopes that the new Guardian will soon be capable of leading full time Canada’s premier super-hero team. Sasquatch represents the brawn of AF in his super-strong Great Beast form, and its brains as a world-class leading physicist. Sasquatch operates out of Ottawa, where Walter Langkowski has a research lab. 90 T
    • Talisman – Elizabeth Twoyoungmen. Daughter of late AF founding member Shaman, former member of both AF and OF, Talisman is the mystic powerhouse of the new team. Wise beyond her years and, having taken her father’s place as spiritual leader of her people, Elizabeth has become a good friend and confident for Walter. Talisman operates out of the Sarcee Nation Reservation.
    • Arachne – Julia Carpenter. Although Sasquatch fired all American members of Omega Flight, Arachne had already petitioned Canadian citizenship for herself and her daughter, and had become a respected super-hero for the city of Toronto. As such, Sasquatch is more than happy to invite her to become a member of the new AF. Arachne has many spider-like attributes, such as great strength and agility and is capable of generating a psionic web. 10T
    • Northstar – Jean Paul Beaubier. Former founding member of the original AF, Jean Paul rejoins his former teammates to help protect Canada. The speedster Northstar is one of the team’s most capable members, despite his personal dislike for current team-leader Sasquatch. Jean Paul and his sister live in Montreal.
    • Aurora – Jean Marie Beaubier. Also a former founding member of the original AF. Jean Marie had a previous on and off relationship with current team-leader Walter Langkowski, much to the dislike of her possessive brother, Northstar. More or less at peace with her multiple personalities, Jean Marie is eager to rejoin her former teammates in protecting Canada, and maybe rekindle her romance with Walter. Like her brother, Aurora is a speedster, and both, together are capable of generating a super-powerful burst of pure white light.
    • Guardian – Vancouver P.D Detective Sean Bernard. Before James McDonald Hudson took on the mantle of the Guardian (or Weapon Alpha or Vindicator) Sean Bernard was selected to pilot the prototype suit (then called Groundhog), used only once before by Hudson. A veteran police officer, Sean is convinced by Sasquatch to don the new suit and become Canada’s new premier super-hero in an effort to help his fellow police officers, overtaxed with the new sudden influx of American super-villains. Guardian soon becomes AF’s public face and its second in command. The suit allows its wearer to manipulate the electromagnetic spectrum, to fly at amazing speeds and a modicum of super-strength. 15 T
    • Century – A former teammate of Arachne in Force Works, Century is accepted in the new AF at her recommendation and due to the fact that he is an alien, and not another American super-operative. Century is an artificial being of manufactured flesh, blood and muscle, who is inhabited by a hundred different minds, which provide him with a hundred times the strength, experience, skill and knowledge of a single individual. Century always carries with him the battle-staff Parallax, which enables him to open gates in the fabric of space and teleport. 40 T

The new Alpha Flight has its baptism of fire when, enraged by the Canadians attempt to escape from under his influence, Norman Osborn puts together a team of ruthless American super-villains to ravage Ottawa and kill any Canadian super-hero that they find.

    Reserve Members:
Box and Diamond Lil – The retired couple refuses Walter´s invitation to join the new team, however, Jefferies later accepts a job as a mechanic for the team, and even helps modify the Guardian suit for Bernard, which suggests that, in an emergency, Madison may once again don the BOX armor to assist his friends. Diamond Lil is starting a career as a TV actress.
Snowbird and Yukon Jack. – The immortals prefer to live apart from the rest of humanity, especially while YJ is recovering from the damage suffered in his time trip which rejuvenated somewhat his former teammate Centennial. However, both have agreed to be there when Alpha needs them.
Centennial - Rejuvenated about fifty years, Centennial is now more interested in enjoying life than fighting crime, however, if his country, and Alpha, need him, his great power will be at their service.

    Threats:
Dream Queen, The Master, the New and villainous Omega Flight (Strong Arm, Miss Mass, Bile, Tech-Noir, Snew, Rok) the Brain Drain, The Brother in Arms (Cleft, Depth Charge and Rook) and the Wild Pack (The Canadian version of the Wrecking Crew. Four hooligans endowed with mystically enhanced animal attributes of a grizzly bear, a rattler, a wolf and an owl. A fifth member of the group, endowed with the attributes of a mountain lion betrayed them and is training under the C.S.I.S. to become Alpha’s next member – Wildheart.).

Department H - Weapon Prime – When Omega Flight was deemed a failure, officials in the Canadian government, afraid of the increase of American super-human operatives with its Initiative program, decided to re-instate Department H, under the command of the mysteriously re-instated Gen. Clarke, with Weapon Prime as its main operatives.

    • Vindicator – Michael Pointer. Determined to be too much of a political hot-potato having the, however unwitting, murderer of the original AF posing as the Guardian, Canada’s premier super-hero figure, Michael was reassigned to Weapon Prime, where he uses another suit based on Hudson’s designs to control his powers. After the real, horrible, inhuman intent behind the Weapon Omega Project came to light, the suit now is really a regulator, designed to bring Pointer’s power to a manageable level, and to eradicate the addiction caused by the Weapon Omega experiment. No longer in touch with the Collectible, Vindicator is a human generator of extremely powerful and unstable energies, held in check and controlled by his special suit, which also grants him his share of super-human strength. 20 T
    • Persuasion – Young Kara Killgrave is vital to the Weapon Prime program due to her ability in controlling Yeti, the team’s powerhouse. Kara has also become a skilled hand-to-hand combatant, using a staff which can fire energy blasts as her weapon of choice. Constantly harassed by Radius, who she strongly dislikes, and feeling no real connection of affinity with anyone else in the team, Kara has established a strong friendship with Michael Pointer, Vindicator.
    • Radius – Jared Corbo is a mutant with the ability to create impregnable force-fields. Arrogant and selfish, Jared still manages to be a great asset for the team in terms of power. Radius had been de-powered by M-Day, however, an experiment involving Vindicator gave him back his powers.
    • Yeti – A savage creature captured by the Canadian authorities and, despite its savagery, placed with Weapon Prime due to its great strength. The Yeti is controlled by Persuasion and a pain inducing collar when she is unavailable. 75 T
    • Nemesis – Amelia Weatherly wields a powerful mystic sword which also grants her the ability of flight. After she and Centennial went separate ways, Amelia was recruited by Department H, which gave her no choice but to join.

Future Recruits – Goblin and Witchfire

The New Alpha Flight and Weapon Prime are created as a response to the increase in Meta-human activity all over the World, not only in the U.S. Following the Initiative’s example, Russia concentrated all its superhuman operatives in the Super-Soldier Division. Great Britain has its M-13, China is working to expand China Force, Japan has reactivated its Big Hero Six project, and all over the World similar efforts are being made. As such, Canada felt it could not be left behind.

    Peace

Radius also fits quite well as a Ben Grimm analogue since his powers have the downside of not being able to properly touch things. and Windshear is a flying Mutant who does ranged attacks with an elemental theme. not FIRE, but....
