Default Whats a good stand alone X-Men hard cover to read ?

Just after recommendations on a good stand alone X-Men story (hardcover) to read that isn't a collection from comics ?.
I am a Marvel fan preferably cosmic storylines, especially Thanos or Dark Phoenix related, when both the Avengers and the X-Men are involved count me in, loved the original Uncanny Avengers series.
Not a fan of any of the new characters.

Marvel Knights: X-Men was a good standalone story. It may be called Marvel Knights: X-Men: Haunted in trade form. It starred Wolverine, Rogue and Kitty just doing classic X-Men stuff.

Its a mid 10s miniseries by Brahm Revel abt Wolverine, Rogue and Kitty travelling to small town USA to rescue a young mutant girl. It reads like a modernized take on classic Claremont and thats the best compliment any book can hope for.

I think Search for Xavier got collected in one TPB. I like the art in that one.

God Loves Man Kills is the stand alone X-Men graphic novel. It's also a really great stand alone graphic novel and while being heavily rooted in Claremont's X-Men longform story, it's also and importantly perhaps the least dependent on the entire canon. Anybody can read it.

Sometimes I think the most important X-Men standalone stories are best chosen by narrowing in on your favorite character and then narrowing in on their essential storyline.
Honestly I think that is what matters most to many X-Men fans.

So, yea, who's your favorite mutant?
