Default Whats a good stand alone X-Men hard cover to read ?

Just after recommendations on a good stand alone X-Men story (hardcover) to read that isn't a collection from comics ?.
I am a Marvel fan preferably cosmic storylines, especially Thanos or Dark Phoenix related, when both the Avengers and the X-Men are involved count me in, loved the original Uncanny Avengers series.
Not a fan of any of the new characters.

Marvel Knights: X-Men was a good standalone story. It may be called Marvel Knights: X-Men: Haunted in trade form. It starred Wolverine, Rogue and Kitty just doing classic X-Men stuff.

I think Search for Xavier got collected in one TPB. I like the art in that one.

I think I remember that line. I think Spidey got a mini too.
