Default What happened to David Mack's planned X-Men run?

    Hi all,

I was recently drooling over David Mack's luscious illustrations for Bendis' Pearl mini at DC and suddenly remembered how he was supposed to take over Ultimate X-Men back in the early naughies. Which could have possibly been New X-Men instead. More details here.

X-Men, Ultimate or otherwise, written by Mack and drawn by David Finch? Or possibly Josh Middleton? Sign me up yesterday please. What's weird is that it sounds like issues were written and despite all the reshuffling around the Ultimate X-Men teams back then (remember when Bryan Singer & friends were supposed to take over?) I'm surprised Mack's stories have never been repackaged as a mini or somesuch.

I was curious if anyone heard any more on the topic back then, and in general how people would like to read David Mack's X-Men in some form or shape.

I personally don’t think it would have been a good fit, given Mack’s propensity for surrealism.

I would much rather he illustrate a run.
