Dragonball M, Chapter 4: Kidnapping! Invasion! A new Threat Strikes First!

The Nevadian watched the entire spectacle stone faced, his mind simply resigning to the days events.

He had watched a man dissolve into bubbles after sharing a drink with him, some guy splitting into two guys he knew was simply par for the day's course.

"Oh...Okay. Good job, Zaofan. Good Job, Oc--Nevermind, he left."



"Believe it or not, it seems that the sentiments shared by blacktongue and his team were not as....indicative of the sentiments of Reshlan at large." Held replied over his communicator with a laugh.

Almost a moment later, he spotted the armored transport heading to his direction.

The Nevadian turned to his comrade, tipping his head towards the direction of good Captain.

"You're certainly swift." Held replied with an impressed tone, "I thought I would have time to find a good bar....But, no matter."

Besides, I'm getting a bit leery of Threshling booze....

"I haven't gotten a chance to take the lay of the land yet myself....Any idea on the condition the planet is in?"

The Nevadian frowned slightly. He had some inkling of the damage that could have been done, if Auroc had his way. The Majin had certainly been quite through in his endeavors, despite his foppery. It was a minor miracle on it's own that so many countermeasures managed to be undone.

But, even then, years of abusing the planet, and corrupting it's very essence with his will, and the actual attempts made to unmake it...Well, even if not the worst case scenario, it would have been an act of the Kami's for it to emerge completely unscathed.

"I'll ask the Queen's permission, but I'll see if we set up shop on the city outskirts. We can focus some of our efforts here, at the epicenter, but I'm half expecting to find more remote areas are in need of assistance also."

The Queen gives you permission once you ask.

It climbs out, sniffing the air. It cocks it’s head at you, as if curious.

Reaching out a hand to the creature cautiously, she holds it palm up, "It's safe now." She smiles gently, "Ah don't know if you can understand me, but the one who locked you up is gone. Come on little feller. "

Etrina, you recall that Auroc once served Sakin. Sakin in turn was an attendant to a God of Destruction.

When nothing happened, Etrina paused a moment to think further...perhaps she wasn't going old enough here.

Slowly the thought crossed her mind.

Auroc was a servant of....

"Sakin." Etrina said out loud.

Who was in turn....the attendant of....the attendant of...........

"Inda’ren?" Etrina said.

When nothing happened, Etrina paused a moment to think further...perhaps she wasn't going old enough here.

Slowly the thought crossed her mind.

Auroc was a servant of....

"Sakin." Etrina said out loud.

Who was in turn....the attendant of....the attendant of...........

"Inda’ren?" Etrina said.

The book clasp unlocks.

He nods and takes the coins.

“Auroc, the majin guy, yeah? He had an ongoing busy here. Real quiet, real sneaky, yeah? Liked to keep tabs on things and people.”

He hops down and starts walking to the back room.

“Follow me, sweetheart.”

She gathered as much when she took her initial look through his journal. He traveled the universe and beyond and kept notes on people of interest. Night, The Ulthan, various fallen deities, and so much more. If he wasn't such a wannabe despot, she would have been more impressed than she was with his ability to keep an eye on so much of creation. "The Eye of Auroc has a wide reach," she commented.

From Reshlan, to Vocado, and even to Earth, Auroc kept tabs on particular parties. No doubt keeping an eye on enemies, and persons he could use to his advantage. Ah, if only his ego and melodramatic manner of showing off hadn't sealed his fate years ago when he made a show of possessing Anula on that mountain, perhaps he would have been under their radar this entire time until he chose to make his move. If that had been the case, they would have been even more underprepared to face him initially than they had been when he invaded Vocado in reality.

A pity. However, people like him often conducted themselves to their own downfall. The tale of Auroc was a tragedy and a cautionary tale unlike any other.

She drained her drink, then stood to follow him into the back room. She kept a hand on the hilt of her sword, just in case she was walking into a trap.

Etrina smirked. For once all the background god/kami shenanigans' had paid off.

Lock undone, Etrina lifted the book and casually began flipping through the pages to determine just what kind of book she was dealing with as she walked over to see what Dash had discovered.

He leads her into a room in the back, passing seven other closed doors. Inside, once he unlocks it with a strange green key, is a large room with a dozen different computer screens and chairs. Servers sit in the back and sitting in each chair is a small, two foot tall, dark grey majin. Each one is listening to something, watching different screens and events happening across the universe.

Parsley stood stock still, eyes locked on the scene in front of her. She had seen security rooms before, even ones that had a wide, planetary scope. Never before had she ever seen one on the scope of this. "A universal surveillance room..." she muttered.

A dozen screens, each one playing a different section of the universe. In the back of the room, servers - undoubtedly extremely powerful servers - sat against the wall. Behind each screen was a Majin, no more than two feet tall and gray in color. That inadvertently confirmed something she wasn't aware she wanted to know; there were more Majin in the universe than simply Auroc and Sasheem. Many more. And at least these twelve worked for Auroc.

She looked closely at the twelve screens in hopes that she recognized a few of the scenes being displayed.

"This is how Auroc extended his eye," she said to the goblin. "Any idea who in particular he's been keep tabs on, and why?"

The following is found within the Grand Maven’s Room:

-Ten Crystals - "Lodestones/Mana Batteries. Need to be pre-charged, but can be used to add firepower to spells.....will need a design a method for carrying and use."

-One large crystal in a skull apparatus. This one hums with magical power. - "Scrying/Recording Device, likely for magical espionage. Make note to test and check for anything Maven recorded.....assuming its not Auroc porn"

-One closed and locked spell book. - "Book of Eldrich Spellcraft. Very Old. Unlocked with the name of a God of Destruction(Significance perhaps?) Major find, will need detailed study.

-One open spell book - "Contains basic primer on Threshling Magic, along with notation on Blood Magic. Note to have Foci do a sketch of the contents for later, copies may make a nice gift for Cyanna(Threshling Magic) and/or Inanna(Blood Magic)
-One brazier/forge/oven
-About twelve different Reshlan native plants and samples for potions and spell work.
-Two pre-made potions
-One locked trunk
-About ten different books on plants, minerals, and their various works in magic and alchemy

-One blue and black stone ring - "Auto Translate ring for written information. Several possible applications when it comes to pre-historical writings."

-One red amulet - "Access to sideways plane....possible applications yet to be determined, safety of "sideways" dimension also needs to be determined. Making note to test for later."
-And other such paraphernalia and equipment.

Putting the book aside for a moment, Etrina turns and re focuses her attention on Dash and the now open chest....the former leaning down close to the lid while the later seemed to have something small and cute climbing out to....

Sudden panic set in on the young mage.

"Whoa, WHOA! Careful!" Etrina grabs Dash by the shoulder and pulls her back from the chest, while keeping a wary eye on the baby creature. "...Sorry...Forgive me for being brash...But I told you to be careful didn't I." The Mage throws her gaze back to the whelpling. "Proceed with caution, it doesn't matter what your presented with....think logically. Why would Maven keep a small, cute dragonling in a box...there are other, more secure methods for holding such beings. Either she wasn't too particularly fond of it....or....." Etrina paused. "It wasn't in the box to be kept...it was there for another purpose. Such as.....intruders opening it carelessly. Correct?"

As quickly as it had faded, did it return with a vengeance.

Boredom.

For someone like Inanna, it was this particular psychological state and the emotions it engendered, that led to mischief. On a new world, full of a variety of new 'adventures', the woman set her focus on something in particular. Energy. Didn't matter the make or source. If it was new she wished to seek it out and understand it. So she cast her net wide, and scanned the entirety of Reshlan.

But if that baby dragon really was intended to attack anyone, it would have done it by now. Ah ain't about to mistreat any creature unless it attacks first. Sealing it up in there just seems wrong, for whatever reason."

"It does.....and that's exactly why you should be very careful. The best traps are the ones that envoke the kind of emotional response that makes one drop their guard..." Etrina steps up beside Dash and examines the little creature from a distance, scanning it for anything out of the ordinary....magical or otherwise.
