One shot followed the exact same trail she followed until she pierced Admiral Held Debron's heart. The other veered off to parts unknown. The man, The Judge, vanished within a portal shortly after making his two shots.

"The Judge," she spat. She turned to Inanna. "You were right. It was the Judge. He made another shot right after the one that killed Held. I don't know where that one went, but whoever his target was is surely dead by now." That meant it wasn't any of them. That was good, but at the same time, it made her uncomfortable.

What reason did they have to kill Held, other than eliminating an ally of Inanna's? Other than killing Genesis and Inanna, what other purpose did Banespell have? Why risk drawing the ire of the Nevadian Federation?

Questions abounded, and they had very little in the way of answers.

"We have a problem," Maiz said suddenly. "I was in the middle of communicating with Eva on Earth when the connection cut off suddenly. I tried to contact her again, but didn't get an answer."

Parsley's breath caught in her throat. "This isn't good. We need to get back to Earth right away." She looked skyward and could just barely see Ochazuke's outline. She knew he was looking for them, these Ulthan. If he found them, that changed everything. They could nip that problem in the bud with a singe decisive strike.
"Dunno about you guys, but Sasheem is pissed off," the Majin grumbled. "Sasheem actually hold most of you in high enough regard that he knows it'd be up to him to kill you sumbitches off. Not some candy-ass Ulthan," Sasheem folded his arms, and nodded decisively. "Now Held AND Eva got knocked off?! Sasheem doesn't care if he's gotta go to Earth or stick around here but one way or another, he's gonna show these losers how a real assassin fights!"

When the dust settles, about 60% of the Lookout is just gone. Pretty much the entire courtyard and surrounding area have been atomized. Only the main building and a bit of the ones on the side remain.

Jack and Nunlil both are nowhere to be seen, but Sarada can see Kai on his back, unconscious and bleeding out, just barely hanging onto the edge of the remains of the lookout.

Lantro and Totoma seem alive and decently injured, buried under some rubble nearby. Sarada herself is badly wounded, having been closer to the orange energy that the others. Burns cover her left arm and chest where her armor melted to her skin, half her hair is gone, and her left arm is broken in multiple places alongside a bad laceration in her cheek.

As the dust settles, Sarada can see Eva. Standing against a ruined pillar, the energy beam crackles and spits as its frozen in place.

    Half through Eva’s chest.

The Guardian’s hands bleed as she holds the beam in place, power cracking around her hands as she desperately tries to keep the beam from going all the way through her and detonating behind into the RoSaT doors.

    “Sa....rada......”

Blood dribbles from her mouth and hands as the energy sizzles, moving just a bit deeper through her and out her back, aimed straight at the RoSaT doors, which Sarada knows will cause mayhem if destroyed like that.

It appeared that Lantro picked the wrong moment to emerge from the Room of Spirit and Time. He had barely left from the nebulous room to get a drink of water when suddenly Earth's Guardian had been struck dead by a green beam of energy, with an orange beam soon to follow, this one having a much large area of effect as it engulfed the Lookout.

"R-Rebound!" he manage to say, barely managing to summon a barrier over himself as the cascade of energy shot down upon him, crushing him into the rubble.

Lantro groans groggily, lying in a pile of rubble with his face caked in blood that ran over his dark shades. "Just...w-what the **** was that?" he managed to spit out.

    “Sa....rada......”

Blood dribbles from her mouth and hands as the energy sizzles, moving just a bit deeper through her and out her back, aimed straight at the RoSaT doors, which Sarada knows will cause mayhem if destroyed like that.
The light from the explosion and the dusty cloud of debris that resulted from it faded away gradually. Sarada drew in a shaky breath and felt nothing but pain. An intense burning pain in her left arm, and a terrible pain in her chest. She looked down at her arm and saw that it was bent in three different directions, none of them the right way. It was her cybernetic arm, but it was going to take some time to fix, time she didn't have. She only had a few days before Tundra arrived on the homeworld.

Her good arm reached up and touched her chest. She grimaced when she felt that her armor had melted into her skin. Cracked and bleeding flesh had fused with her armor's materials until the two were indistinguishable. "...no..." She felt warm blood trickling down her cheek. That was, by far, the most normal injury she had suffered thus far.

Come on... get up... She grunted and first pushed herself to her hands and knees. It was awkward with the broken arm. She lost her balance and fell forward, barely catching herself before she face-planted. She grunted again and struggled to her feet. From there, she could see what was what. "Kai..." Kai was hanging limply from the edge of the Lookout. If he fell, he was going to die. She took a single step toward him when she barely heard a weak voice calling out to her. She turned to face the source.

    What she saw was horrifying.

Eva was standing, which was good. The green beam that lanced downward from above was suspended as a permanent lance through her chest. Strange energies crackled around her, proving that was her doing. Sarada's gaze cut to just behind Eva and saw why. The RoSaT was right behind her. If the beam struck that room...

Totoma and Lantro were buried under piles of rubble. Jack and Nunlil were nowhere to be found. That meant it fell on her to save both Kai and the rest of the Lookout. Eva was likely going to die. She swallowed the hard lump that had formed in her throat at that thought. If Kai lived, that meant the role of Guardian could be passed on to him, like last time. It would only be until they could get to Namek and wish Eva back.

Eva's desperate efforts were clearly straining her, so Sarada didn't have time to dawdle. The multiform ring Inanna gave me is still intact, she realized as she pressed down on the silver and gold band. A brief tearing sensation overtook her before fading away as quickly as it beset her. A second Sarada was standing beside her, suffering the same damage she had. Staring at her double revealed to her the full breadth of her injuries.

    ...her hair...

"Save Kai," she told the double. "I'll help Eva." Nodding, the two went their separate ways. The double grabbed Kai and gently hoisted him over the edge and back to the safety of solid ground.

Sarada quickly moved behind Eva. "I...I'm here, Eva," she said. She transformed quickly and braced herself. "I'm going to stop the beam, Eva. You can let it go." She swallowed. The gift she received from Lasair after completing her training wasn't something she had ever used before. She only had one chance to get it right. If she failed, there was no way of knowing how terrible the consequences of the RoSaT's destruction were going to be.

There was only one way to find out.

    Lasair's Gift, All-Consuming Flame

Her golden aura shifted, flickering and licking the air not unlike an inferno. She braced herself, arms crossed in front of her face. Doing so sent jagged jolts of fiery pain through her broken arm, but she gritted her teeth and sucked it up. Just for a moment, a short moment.

"I'm ready, Eva. Let it go!"

Eva looks behind her and smiles, blood trailing down her mouth.

    “I..trust you. Sorry....I....didn’t....see this...coming. You...and the others....be safe......”

She turns back around, silver energy consuming her as she lets fly a whirlwind of silvery butterflies for just a second, before the beam finishes its journey through her and towards Sarada.

It’s close. Really close, but Sarada is just able to stop the attack.

Eva’s body slumps down, the Guardian passing on.

Some time ago, E Bekon had showed back up and done that body switcheroo thing. Apparently he had managed to fix (mostly, in his words) whatever damage the Super Hitozaru had done to his body.

'I decided leaving my body in the hands of a reckless idiot like you was... ill-advised,' he'd said before leaving to go back to Capital City. At Totoma's request, of course. With him around, Totoma could rest easy and go help Sarada with that Tundra villain.

...of course, he claimed he wouldn't play superhero, but Totoma knew, if push came to shove, E Bekon totally would. He was him, after all.

After that, he sat down and meditated, trying to focus his energy and sense any irregularities.

    ...

And then everything exploded. Now, this was something he was used to, but when he said exploded, he meant really exploded. Like cheap tacos exploded. He hadn't even had a chance to transform, and as such, he was, put bluntly, rather fucked up by the cowardly sneak attack.

Pushing the rubble off of his body, he stood... then fell to his knees. **** this hurt. His arm was twisted to hell, and he was pretty sure...

...yep, eardrums had burst. The blood and also the lack of sound was a dead giveaway.

Reaching to his capsules, he grabbed one, pushed the button, and threw it in front of him. Out popped... some bottled water. Just normal, not-at-all special h20. Probably the last one he had on him, actually. But that was all he needed. Popping it open, he downed the entire bottle in one go, and that's when Haurvatat got to work.

His arm cracked as it set itself back into place, and his ears stopped bleeding--and, more importantly, sound returned to his world--as they healed as well. Burns receded, cuts & abrasions mended... the whole nine yards. What didn't mend, however... was his anger.

Which compounded when he looked up and the first thing he saw...

    ...was Eva die.

    What?

Next to his family, Eva was one of the people dearest to him--after all, she had helped him overcome his... issues years ago. He didn't know what, exactly, she'd done, but whatever it had been, it had allowed him to fight with the others, without his... hangups getting in the way.

    And now she was dead.

Once again, someone he cared about had died right in front of him and he'd been utterly helpless to do anything.

Inanna's expression was grim, as she stared down at the now paradoxical state of Held.

This was progressing far faster than even she had anticipated. It seems in her eagerness to become the 'cat', she had allowed herself to be outmaneuvered. Pathetic; and now those she'd attempted to keep in the dark for their own safety were suffering for it. And it was about to get so much worse.

    Dead.

She was dead. Once again, he, the so-called hero, had failed to protect someone. Not just her.. Rutaba, all those on Ruco... so many dead today that, if not for his weakness, he could have saved.

His awareness withdrew, his rage and sorrow bubbling up from within. And with those... power. He drew in a breath and screamed, the dam breaking as power beyond his wildest reckoning burst forth. It threatened to tear his body and soul asunder, and he struggled to contain, let alone control it. But... his experiences earlier in the day, and, perhaps, a certain counterpart's ministrations gave him just the edge to not be consumed by his wildly rising ki.

Some distance away, a certain emperor turned... and smiled.

Totoma's aura exploded outward, his hair rising and becoming more defined. Finally, as he gained tamed this new power enough to do anything but scream, bluish-white bio-electricity sprang into existence, dancing chaotically around his form.

    The Just Saiyan had ascended.

It’s close. Really close, but Sarada is just able to stop the attack.

Eva’s body slumps down, the Guardian passing on.
Sarada was shoved back by the force of the blast. The flame empowering her improved aura ate away at the blast, leaving behind fleeting embers of green energy that trailed behind her. Her teeth gritted and gnashed. Pain echoed through her entire body but she persevered. Eva had given her her trust to save the RoSaT and prevent even more damage from besieging the Lookout. She couldn't fail!

She let out a guttural roar. Her strength was renewed from the desperation her perilous circumstance fill her with. The flames of her aura responded, exploding to life and devouring the rest of the beam.

The beam was gone... and so was Eva. Sarada watched helplessly as her beloved friend collapsed into a lifeless heap on the ground. For all her strength, power, and tenacity, Sarada couldn't save one of the people she cared about the most.

She let out a stilted, warbled breath and collapsed to her knees. "D-damn it," she gritted out. Her good fist pounded the floor, leaving a deep crater and cracked tiles behind. She had failed Eva, even if she did exactly what she was supposed to do. Kai lived, but unless she was mistaken, Earth's dragonballs weren't going to be able to bring her back for a second time. They had to go to Namek for that.

"FUCKING DAMN IT!!" Her breathing was still stilted, but not out of grief or exhaustion.

    No.

The only emotion she could feel was pure, unadulterated fury. A primal, bestial rage that poured out of every pore like a thick musk. Whoever did this, whoever killed her friend and nearly killed several others was going to pay.

Her gaze cast upward in the general direction of where the beams originated from. "I will make you suffer for this," she hissed, every word dripping with acerbic venom. "I WILL MOUNT YOUR HEAD OF A PIKE FOR THIS!! DO YOU HEAR ME?!"

Of course they didn't. They almost certainly turned tail and ran the moment they fired their blasts. Cowards like them, who attacked from above and behind and from the shadows couldn't be bothered to face the consequences of their actions. But they will. Sarada didn't know when, or how, but she was going to track them down and make sure they suffered. Oh, she was going to make them suffer a thousandfold what Eva did. And then, and only when they witnessed their world in ashes, would she allow them to die.

On her pride, she swore it.

Totoma took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and reached out with his ki senses, trying to sense the cowardly bastard that had done this. It was a bit hard to focus, with how he was now, but if he got any whiff of that son of a bitch, he'd be all over him in an instant. He would not let them escape... not after what they'd done.

Normally, he was a merciful hero, but not today. Just for now, he'd play the role of a Hero of Vengeance.

He's on the hunt, and may well be making a target for himself." Then the woman turned to Maiz. "I need to ask a favor of you in the meantime."

Then she paused, if only to say telepathically to one other person.

"Etrina, I have need of you."
The response was quick, and given the situation only slightly off from calm.

"The feeling is mutual....Give me a moment, assuming I don't take a shot to the head....bloody hell..." The Mage mental voice flickered in Inannas head. "...Held is down....I sent Erosa into hiding for the moment, the hell is going on...."

Only a faint trace of energy leading from the sky and out into space.

Far out into space, beyond his ability to sense.

A familiar voice speaks in all their heads, a bit of a warble in its mental tone. Grieving.

It’s Slak, their old Namekian companion.

Elder Nail is dead. And I sensed Eva’s passing. Someone has targeted people who control dragonballs. Be safe. Namek is on lock down, and any of the dragon clan who can recreate such artifacts are being secreted away.’

"None of the why's and how's matter right now. I need you to focus." Inanna said.

"I know who did it, a friend of your new Patron; and I mean to do something about it... but I'm stronger than I am precise. I need you to help shape something for me. Can you?" Inanna paused.

"Majin, get your ass over here before I bust out the knife."
Yeah, but if you... man, we're getting into weird analogy territory, like if you disintegrated Superman's arms he wouldn't be able to go "fool! Little did you know that my arms and I are one and can be remade from me!" and will his arms back into being from pure nothingness. - Pendaran
