If you could change any X-men sexuality, who would it be? Why?

I think, yes, Kurt considered Amanda as his sister at the beginning and then, later, it stops being important…

I would like the subtext addressed and lets just be blatant about where each character stands.

Storm - confirmed bisexual
Kate - confirmed bisexual (with a preference for women)
Rachel - confirmed lesbian
Illyana - confirmed lesbian
Dani - confirmed bisexual or lesbian
Emma Frost - confirmed bisexual
Sunspot - confirmed bisexual or gay
Mystique - confirmed bisexual with a preference for women
Logan - confirmed bisexual
Laura - confirmed bisexual
Kurt - confirmed bisexual
Gambit - confirmed bisexual

That's all I could think of off the top of my head, I am sure there are lots more characters whose sexuality has been ambiguous because of stupid subtext and fear of actually being blatant about it.

Pretty close to my own list, although I'd have Illyana as off-screen confirmed asexual/celibate romantic, specifically the forbidden loves of Kitty & Dani, and double forbidden love of Piotr, which is somehow less legitimate than the Kurt/Amanda step-sibling porn plot. (The maneuvers to get Piotr pumped up on Juggernaut and Phoenix power like a creepy stalker shows an emotional tangle that is otherwise hard to explain.)

Maybe Illyana's asexuality with unrequited romantic love revealed privately in the conversation that Kitty and Illyana should have had during 'Original Sin', after the Watcher's Eye exploded as a Truth-bomb, revealing what was Hidden.

I would expect then that Illyana would have erased the knowledge from Kitty's memory with a charm, like Magik erased Stevie Hunter's seeing Illyana's magical powers.

Illyana would be extremely private about her sexuality though, having concealed her abuse and probable molestation by Belasco for ever, perhaps dressing as a Dominatrix as part of her smokescreen about asexuality.

Magik ends up killing everyone she loves, so to the extent Illyana loves anyone, she must hold back her love; being a Hell Lord is a curse.

Leah being Dead, and a fellow Hell Lord, made that relationship easy and straight... forward.

I’ve seen arguments that if Rogue absorbed someone who was attracted to females, then so would Rogue.

True. I feel that superheroes comics, particularly from the big two, are still slightly behind the creative curve of what sexuality, gender and identity can be; how they can be used creatively to tell new and interesting stories and push boundaries.

It’s why I’d really like them retcon Kurt’s parents to being Raven and Irene, one of Chris Claremont’s ideas which was way ahead of its time.

Which is obviously a female majority roster.

Then if you look at the known or hinted queerness of those members you get:

Scout: too young but questioned her sexuality as being attracted to a girl on a bus
Magik: severely hinted to be pan, bi or lesbian over the last few years
Karma: known lesbian
Warlock: an alien species who asexually reproduces

That leaves Rahne, Dani and James.

And if you didn’t know the recent New Mutants film (SPOILERS), the adaptation is explicit with Rahne and Dani queerness. As bisexual or lesbian.

So with such a female-centric roster, do you think the “new” New Mutants book will change Rahne and Dani’s sexuality or hint at it? Not necessarily together either. But individual?

Some people seem to have pushed the idea that Dani likes girls, I don't know where it comes from, in New X-men she stated she is straight and to my knowledge she has only dated guys. Unless it has changed recently? And no, the movie doesn't count.
Magik was bigtime into boys in the '80s. Illyana 2.0 hasn't really dropped many hints about her sexuality, seems she is not very interested about relationships.

Rachel being confirmed a lesbian is apparently happening and I can't wait. Even as a child I knew she was one.

Magik being asexual could be very interesting too. We don't have many of them represented and I think Yana is a perfect candidate for it.
