I’m going to be in the minority on this one but I enjoyed the Clone Saga. At the time it was pretty ground breaking stuff for the industry and the character. Sales were red hot for Spider-Man at the time largely due to the Clone Saga. The mystery and writing were top notch but of course like most things in life, nothing last forever. Marvel tried to milk it and the ridiculousness followed shortly after. It gets a bad rap because people only remember how bad it got. I don’t blame them either because yes, things just got way too convoluted.

ASM 400 right off the top of my head is an all time gem. Aunt May should have never came back after this. Still even with Marvel trying to ruin this story it doesn’t take away from how emotional and well written it was.

Also on a side note....Bendis did a fantastic job with his version of the Clone Saga. Short and damn good.

Aunt May’s death was by far the boring and forgettable part of Clone Saga. Not even a joke.

“I knew you were Spider-Man the whole time.” is always a weak cop out that deprives character development from Peter. It’s really sad.

I feel that’s why I liked the Ultimate version better. Rather than just just being ragdolled by his problems, Peter felt more honest and proactive.
