I don't think they're "best friends", but they're definitely friendly. Polaris was also close with Quicksilver, but there was that period where they thought they were related, so it's hard to classify what they are.

I wouldnt say they are a threesome as Magik and Rachel have never really had much to do with each other. Kitty's been BFF with them (and Doug) at various points in her life but she keeps those relationships seperate

I'd love for Rachel and Ilyanna to seize the initiative and hang out, without Kitty, and form their own friendship. (Or Doug, with either of them, for that matter.)

Of friendships not listed,

Angel and Iceman. The two were practically a couple, for years (although I got more of a indulgent big brother / tagalong wide-eyed little brother vibe from them, that, in light of recent developments, could be read as Warren pointedly ignoring a painfully obvious man-crush...), bouncing between the Champions and Defenders, in their stints between O5 X-Men, and X-Factor.

Polaris had a bit of witty banter with Madrox in the early 90s and that was it. They were last together in 2012-2013 and nothing between them. She has a lot of friends for a a comic book arc or two and then they are forgotten about. The curse of having no close friendships in the Claremont era.

Jean for Lorna pretty much is the only friend that has existed in more then one era for Lorna in her history. Though there is a huge disparity there that for Jean she is just one friend out of over two dozen and pretty low on that list based on her behavior including at her wedding. For Lorna she is the only longstanding friend outside of one era and made Matron of Honor at her wedding by default because of that.

They could probably be friends again if Marvel had them on the same title or Marvel realized how to squeeze drama out of them having a Xavier and Mags like relationship, but their relationship ossified to death a long time ago from a lack of writers knowing what to do with it.

They were treating them as quasi family even in the 90s if one reads between the lines of their interaction. They were taking into account her previous parentage status and his current status. About half their disagreements actually involved Magneto in some way before they were officially related.

Because I'm not pedantic. There are multiple other posters who have mentioned single characters with numerous "best friends" despite the fact that the term implies there can be only one "best", I don't see you hassling them.
