I was trying to do too much and not doing any of it as well as I could. But I've had a change of mind... though not everyone shall enjoy it. I will.

yes, the real ones, the best ones, yes, absolutely, yes if there were to be a test to check if two friends in the X-Men are truly 'best friends' it'd be too private for panels but you blush or giggle or feel like that.
Those pivotal slow mornings when individual X-Men wake up alone with a certain morning after comforting warmth of no questions no strings no evidence and yet, so when you next see Kurt and Logan or Kitty and Illyana or Kitty and Rachel or Storm and ____ or Logan and ____ well, you just know...and it's good.
Of course, the in panel morning afters are a different thing and rarely so resoundingly 'good'.
Yet in Amazing Nightcrawler the Meagan/Kurt scene in Age of X-Man could be and should be read I think as friends with benefits in a world where that isn't allowed to be off panel...which is so against the very nature of Kurt and Meagan and all my 'best' X-Men favs, and was thrilling for me because it was so very in keeping with the police state horror of that dystopian place...an assault and inversion of what's 'best'.

Ok, so my last response was defensive and snarky, so let me try this a bit more calmly.
Imo, Polaris and Madrox have a long established history, dating back to the time they were both living on Muir Island, and have been on X-Factor a couple times together, where they had a fun, friendly relationship. And as jmc pointed out, Lorna doesn't have a lot of consistent relationships outside of boyfriends or family, so what few friendships she does have, become more important and prominent. It's also a relationship that has never had romantic undertones like PolarisxIceman and SirynxMadrox, who they are probably both closer to, but which makes classifying the relationship kind of messy. You are, of course, free to disagree.

They had a healthy frenemy relationship under Carey and Claremont highlighted their friendship in The End. Rogue and Emma probably understand each other on a level few other XWomen do but they still have a way to go before they can be considered bffs in continuity.
