I'm pretty sure that is a flashback. We know that Kitty is the Red Queen, yet Emma and Shaw are talking about the position like it hasn't been filled yet.

This has still not been confirmed on panel, or have I missed that?

No she's still not been confirmed as a council member yet either. We only know from sollicits and tweets.

I guess she's asked her to be a captain in the first issues and she's looking for a Queen now.

Well I'm still all about the journey of Kitty into Kate for this book, that is the main reason I will read it and if that stops seeming to be a thing I might re-evaluate my interest. (Comical hijinks from Iceman and Pyro only get me so far, and generic heroing from Storm likewise)

I honestly hate it. You know I loves me some Serpent Society, but pretty much every time they show up in an X-Book, they're treated as complete jokes. Most recently in X-Men Gold, their treatment was the worst.

Yeah, Gerry called Marauders #2 the "Red Coronation" so the Red Queen is being revealed in this issue and this starts the upcoming conflict with Sebastian because he is going to truly hate Emma for this choice because I think Sebastian knows that Kate is not someone he can easily manipulate or control!
