    Valnet.

On April 4, 2016, Jonah Weiland announced that Comic Book Resources had been sold to Valnet Inc., a company that is known for its acquisition and ownership of other media properties such as Screen Rant.[5] The site was relaunched as CBR.com on August 23, 2016 with the blogs integrated into the site.

Namor the Sub-Mariner, Marvel's oldest character, will have been published for 85 years in 2024. So where's my GOOD Namor anniversary ongoing, Marvel?

Valnet sure does very little to support Brian and his columns. It seems like you see them less and less on the front page and they just get pushed off right away. They really need some kind of sticky section for what few regular columnists from the old days are left. I know the Shelf Porn column decided to go elsewhere. It was always fun too see how much comic book stuff people collect and how they display it.

Brian Cronin's writer page is bookmarked on my browser and his articles are about the only thing I read on this site. I rarely visit the main page of CBR nowadays.

Right now another poll is going on and it is one of those I am sure most posters will have fun while making up their lists. I though it might be good to drop it here since I saw there are many posters who miss his updates.

Vote For The Top 100 Comics of The 2010s

I think it would be really good if he created threads on the forum for his regular columns. Updates could be posted there either by him or the active members of the forum.

    Sorry for the double post.

Somebody made a spreadsheet comparing all the lists (There have been 4):

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...#gid=853184983

Spider-Man being #1 all the time is a no-brainer, but it's interesting, to me, that Cap has always taken the #2 spot. Cap never really struck me as being a fan favorite to the point where he's always at the top, so that was a surprise.

Also, Wolverine was only #7 in the first poll, but was always #3, afterwards.

Jessica Drew didn't even make the top 50 in 2015 - Glad to see she crawled her way back up (and beat out Spider-Gwen?? Wow.)
Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Thanks for posting that. It is surprising to see how it has been pretty consistent except for what you mention. So I guess Brian only does this once every 4 years. I imagine it is a quite a job to compile it all from emails.

Bah, Monica Rambeau didn't make the cut. Hopefully her profile will go up when she starts appearing in the MCU, and that will change!

False Consensus Effect/Bias. Those of us posting here on the CBR forums or on Twitter are actually but a small percentage of the overall comic reading demographic. So just because groups like the X-Men fans here or on Twitter are openly hostile against Steve (for a badly written event seven years ago wherein everyone was written out of character) doesn't mean that he isn't otherwise an universally beloved character to the vast majority of the comic reading population.

You see the False Consensus Bias creep up a lot in the MCU fandom, too. Around the time Avengers Infinity War, the film, came out, a political polling company called Morning Consult decided it would be fun to do a survey of who the most popular of the film Marvel characters were. They surveyed a sampling of each demographic by race, age, down to even political party affiliation, comparable percentage-wise to the population of the United States and these were the results...

Every person I've shown these results to have been shocked at how high Hulk is on the list. But it wasn't at all a shock to me, because I'm old enough to remember how popular Lou Ferrigno's Hulk was, and the biggest movie going demographic, by number of tickets sold, is Generation X and the older Millennials (which is why studios keep remaking/rebooting 80's and 90's franchises), just old enough to catch the Hulk show on syndicate. Goes to show, can't judge a character's popularity by what you see on Twitter or in forums like this one.

Man, Storm was getting her ass kicked in the 1st poll but it was 2007 so those other X-girls were probably being pushed more.

I think it might have been around that time that she was very unpopular because of the marriage to Black Panther. IIRC a lot of the X-fans hated it. I don't know, I liked the idea of their being another superhero married couple besides Reed and Sue but apparently I was one of the few here that did.

I liked the idea of a mutant woman being allowed to date outside the reservation. Cyclops, Angel, Beast, Iceman, Xavier, etc. have all had human girlfriends, but Jean, Ororo, Betsy, etc. were strictly property of the mutant boys, and it's kinda sexist. I'd love for Jean to give Scott and Logan and that whole tired love triangle the old heave-ho and date a human (or an alien or Asgardian or Atlantean. Whatever. Just a non-mutant, to ruffle all the feathers.).

That said, I wasn't in love with the idea of that particular couple. It felt a little token-y. "Quick, let's have our most popular black male and female characters get married, even though they live on continents across the planet from each other and, historically, never seem to interact, having only met in a flashback!"

That's not exactly true. Priest started something with them back in this Black Panther run. I don't consider it token. I look to the RW example of how film stars marry other film stars because they share an understanding of the world they live in, dealing with the press, etc.

I think T'Challa and Ororo was teased in their Marvel Team-Up issue but I can't recall if that was the writer answering the fans or their own idea.

I don't know if it will be of any help but I started a thread in CBR Community Q & A section to suggest that perhaps they can make use of the option called Blogs and Columns in the Community menu at the top of the page. If you click on it there is nothing there. I think maybe regular columns that Brian Cronin, the creator of the poll, created could be linked there somehow. Maybe some of you can add your thoughts there too: https://community.cbr.com/showthread...01#post4706601
