    Default Happy 80th, Daily Planet!

It's really hard giving birthdays as distribution in 2019 isn't even that good. So the DP debuted Nov 20 1939... according to author James Vance. Although it seems to line up with Nov 13, I can't imagine making a typo like that in an actual description. Anyway, it's one of the biggest fixtures in comics!

Was there ever an explanation for why it went from the Daily Star to the Daily Planet?

Nope, they just did it and somehow, for about 79 years now (after coming to comics) it stuck. Originally still had George Taylor as editor. Can you imagine just by chance not having the big globe and all that?

And all the “Welcome to the Planet” puns we’d have missed out on .

Not sure aside from perhaps using a planet as a globe symbol.

Also, worth mentioning is that a Daily Star newspaper appeared in the Blue Beetle as well.
