There is nothing wrong with them forming a nation and coming up with their own set of laws. There is something wrong when they force their laws on other nations.

When they maim people who are essentially doin their jobs.

When their leaders out right lie to their people about things they continually lead to their death.

When they allow their own bigotry to encourage exclusion and elitism.

    So on and so on....

What laws have they forced on another nation?

And who have they maimed for "doing their jobs"?

Traffickers were maimed for trying to kill the heroes as they were rescuing trafficking victims.

    Let’s not get it twisted.

Yeah so this conversation is going to go in circles now.

I will state something that is clearly wrong doing and something the "moral" person should not be engaged in for the story.

Then you or someone else will justify their evil action with that of the evil action the "bad" guy is making.

When in the end the fact that you even have to justify their action, just shows they are in the wrong.

So you think they should’ve just let those soldiers march the mutants to their deaths? Do you feel the same about Nazi Germany?

I don't think having the main character who is suppose to be a representation of a hero maiming her opponents, while showing a considerable amount of joy while doing, is necessary for freeing people. Especially, considering she, herself was in no real danger as she boisterously demonstrated.

She had rounds shot through her head and her friends were temporarily depowered. Just because she expertly handles the situation doesn’t mean there wasn’t danger underway. One wrong move and she would’ve died. She wasn’t gleeful about what she was doing, it’s called quipping. I don’t think she even smiled during the whole encounter but don’t worry, keep on defending ones who are clearly heartless bad guys.

Both sides acted like bad guys. There's really no way around that one.

The whole idea around being a hero is that you don't/won't resort to what the bad guys do. But currently that distinction is lost and the readers are more content with justify their favorite characters actions instead of just admitting that they are not acting in a manner that upholds true heroic ideals.

The question is: what is Hickman playing at? What is the message? With previous authors, I knew their conception of good or bad, their belief, just by reading their work. They left no ambiguity about it. This one, I don't know. It's just blurry and vague…

No one is saying mutants can't form their own nation, you guys sure love to distort whatever arguments you dislike to suit your narratives, that's impressive.

Unironically “both siding” mutants fighting a bunch of militia who are sending defenseless mutants to labor camps where they’ll die. The whole idea of a hero isn’t a strict, unwavering thing and to assume so is vastly undervaluing what heroics are all about. To act like there are objective moralistic values that heroes should always uphold is naive at best, idiotic and dumbfoundingly destructive at worst.

There is no equivalency between Kate and her crew making sure armed oppressors stay down and soldiers shooting to kill while imprisoning mutants on the sole basis of their X-Gene.

In the X-Mhthos ideals have only ever gotten people killed. Pragmatism has saved more mutant lives than can be counted. Spare us all the self righteous preaching.

And really? You're really putting mutant traffickers shooting to kill and liberators on the same level? Because Kate fked them up?

Only in your mind are actual human trafficking liberators as bad as the traffickers because they neutralized said traffickers with non lethal force.

... "Defenseless" super powered Mutants. An oxymoron that can only be conjured up on CBR forums.

And yeah there are key guidelines that make up a hero. Just because some may choose to ignore those guidelines because it makes them feel better does not mean IDEAS, WORDS, and CHARACTER can be swayed depending on what is happening at the moment.

We don’t know what powers those mutants had. Defense implies they are able to fight back and since they’re in captivity by a person who has a suit designed to rob them of their powers. Once again, being vague around the situation these mutants are in isn’t helping the argument. Once they were rescued, they told Kate that they were gonna get sent off to a labor camp against their will. Clearly not all that capable of defending themselves against that kind of threat.
