Default Your Favorite Moments In Super-Cinema!!

Was talking in another thread about the scenes in Superman Returns where Clark catches the plane, and the one where the bullet bounces off his eye. As awful as that movie is, those moments are just fantastic. And it got me thinking, what's everyone's favorite, most Superman-like moments from his larger media stuff? Movies, tv shows, cartoons, whatever. If it's a cool moment of Superman doing something Super, share it!

Not sure if anyone's interested enough in this to justify a thread but I figured it might be worth it.

Let's not bitch too much about stuff though, yeah? We all know Returns was boring and MoS had too much destruction porn and the old DCAU was handicapped by Timm's Bat-obsession, yadda yadda. This thread is just for the moments where the character really shines through and made you smile.

    Mine are probably pretty basic:

The “Plane Rescue” from Superman Returns is my absolute favorite. That’s just “Superman” to me. I’ll literally just cue that up and watch it randomly.

The first flight scene in Man of Steel is another great scene, but I’ll watch the last trailer for Man if Steel too. It was a great trailer and just really is a great bit of Superman.

I’ve watched the Reeve Clark/Superman transformation gif a million times as well. That and Lois’ interview with him from Superman 1 are probably my favorite scenes after the Returns rescue.

Hoechlin’s Superman saving the family from Gotham, then giving the kid the wink. I liked him in that whole episode, but that sold me on him.

The Flash scene from Justice League. His “oh shit” moment when Clark turns his head and tracks him. Loved that.

The barn dance from “Homecoming”. Cause I’m a big ole softee and like my Superman romance.

Superman main theme by John Williams in the opening credits to Superman (1978).
Superman's plane rescue in Superman (1978).
Superman vs. General Zod, Ursa and Non in Superman II (1980)
Superman III (1983) has one redeeming part to it, Clark Kent fights Bad Superman in the junkyard.
Batman and Superman in The Batman Superman Movie: World's Finest (1997).

To have a director like Lester do Superman, to me, gave a very goofy retro charm. The opening of Superman III is still unique in that it describes its setting and sums up the overall direction while managing to live independently as a mini story. Having the character sneak into the movie is kinda perfect.

Chris Sims of the Comics Alliance site said it well in a review from some years ago:

These are people who can't even go to work without getting set on fire by robot penguins.

    No wonder they need Superman.

It builds to exactly the same kind of weird premise that you'd see in a Silver Age comic, where a guy is in danger of literally drowning in his car. I can see the "How did this man drown -- on the middle of a crowded street?!" as a cover blurb on a Cary Bates comic.

I also like that there's a dude with a gun robbing a bank that Superman does absolutely nothing to stop. The cops can handle that, Superman is there for the weird stuff.
Generally I go for smaller moments. Like how Reeve could sell Clark with that unconvincing confidence in any line.
And I like the contrast between his bumbling word vomit and how Superman would speak succinctly without force. Clark eating dog food, the look on Kidder's face at the end, that type of stuff. But the transformation of Vera is such a strangely vivid memory from my childhood.

Man of Steel... I did like the fast paced action through and through. But I loved the interrogation as a scene for Cav-El.

"General, would you care to step outside?"

The calm and confidence he exuded in that moment, as he basically stepped up to 3 soldiers as strong as he is and told them to bring it on. No fear. No hesitation. I'm Superman and you're the badguys, and this ends now.

I think there's a moment in Man of Steel where the world engine is ripping up the ocean and Clark is about to go stop it. Lois points out that he'll be weaker and could die and he doesn't hesitate. "That's no reason not to try".
