So the jist is that as we see in the previews. They are found guilty.
But turns out Cannonball and Smasher take them to Chandilar as their prisoners.
There is a really good reunion moment with the New Mutants with Chamber and Mondo off to the side.
I don't really wanna break down every page but the main points are:
Gladiator wants Xandra to take the throne. A Nemarani should be on the throne.
Gladiator sends Smasher (Cannonball's wife) on a mission to retrieve Deathbird.
Proximity and need means that the New Mutants squad are tagging a long for this mission.
Gladiator wants Deathbird to teach Xandra how to rule and all the customs.
Xandra is the daughter of Xavier and Lilandra.
So my review:
I'm really digging the art more than I expected. The colorist is doing a great job. I don't know the name of the individual though.
This is so heartwarming and charming. These characters are so much fun in this title.
Just wish Magma was present.
I gave no fawkes about the New Mutants. I've just always thought they were a cool generation of next X-Men that didn't really get the attention they deserved.
They have so much chemistry and feels good to be a fly on the wall when they are around eachother.
IDK who is writing what parts but if the characters in X-Men's first two issues had as much chemistry as the characters do in the first two issues of New Mutants I think I would like it way more. (Hopefully that run on sentence made sense)
The story moves forward. And we know the Shiar/Xandra/Imperial Guard/Deathbird are going to be an important thing in an upcoming arc or event. Just my opinion.
