After Alan Davis provided Nightcrawler with an update to the classic Cockrum, they went backward, then forward with a dashing redesign that incorporated a chlamys and a foil.

No one seemed to like it, but I think there was some drama in the cloak.

I liked it. But, I think Carlos Pacheco might be the only artist who could make that redesign look exquisite.

And I don't know if this counts, but my choice would be...

Bullseye had this redesign for his miniseries and it never showed up anywhere else not even in Bullseye's appearances in other books that were running concurrently with the miniseries.
Besides his appearances Old Man Logan which was also written by Brisson that costume was quickly forgotten or well wasn't even acknowledged to begin with
Which was kind of a shame, I personally liked it, I know it didn't do much different besides make the torso blue but I felt it broke up the black in a nice way.

That look for Strange was awesome.

While I think it looks cool, I think it doesn’t fit Strange as he isn’t a classic superhero archetype.

I assume it was, and marvel at their ability to make the design even worse on screen.

It's because on Namorita the fleshy bits don't look like human skin, given her colorful pigmentation. It's an old concept used by artists back in the day to trick the code keepers. It's why you used to see so many exotic, ahem, "women of color" with otherwise revealing outfits.

Like Tigra. I think she and DC's Starfire are probably the poster girls for that. Both of them never liked covering up back then.
