it appears DC has found Alfred's replacement and it maaay be foreshadowing the 5G rumors.

"power does not corrupt, power always reveals."
Will Alfred stay death and will he be replaced by another character?
I don't think the effects of King's run will endure for long time.

Batman's world isn't realistic. It's grounded in psychological realism… In real life, Batman's crusade would be a horrible idea.[…] But in the world Batman inhabits, it not only makes sense, it's absolutely the right thing to do.
There's no replacement for Alfred. Don't kill your characters because you're out of stories to tell. Just leave the title.
Strange pattern, the Bat-Family members with TV shows are kinda written-out of the comics.
Nightwing in Titans, in comics = Ric.
Alfred in Pennyworth, in comics = Dead.
Batwoman (show), in comics = occasional guest appearances.
Boo. Boring. I was expecting Harold Alnut now that Snyder brought him back. He never interacts with Luke. Luke and Lucius is just a father and son dynamic again.
By the way since when Lucius knows that Luke is Batwing?
By the way, where is Julia and when is she gonna shoot Batman, knowing he wears bulletproof armor, she just wants him to feel the impact.
I always liked Lucius as the man Bruce trusted to run Wayne in his absence. It gave Bruce a connection to the real world outside of Batman and a friend who he trusted implicitly. He didn't turn out to be a secret super-villain or hero, he wasn't embezzling or using Wayne to front a drug operation. Lucius was just a good man, excellent at his job, and a trusted friend.
While it was a cute way to use Morgan Freeman more in the Dark Knight trilogy, I've never been a fan of him being in on the act or suddenly becoming R&D guy.
"Has Sariel summoned you here, Azrael? Have you come to witness the miracle of your brethren arriving on Earth?"
"I WILL MIX THE ASHES OF YOUR BONES WITH SALT AND USE THEM TO ENSURE THE EARTH THE TEMPLARS TILLED NEVER BEARS FRUIT AGAIN!"
"*sigh* I hoped it was for the miracle."
Dan Watters' Azrael was incredible, a constant delight and perhaps too good for this world (but not the Forth). For the love of St. Dumas, DC, give us more!!!

I hope the next writer brings Alfred back next year, early on.
as long as Lucius tells Wayne flatly, "I'm not cooking your meals, doing your laundry or vacuuming", so be it. (cue the "Batman gets black butler as supposedly progressive" threads).
This reminds me of Lucius in the Telltale games where he briefly becomes the voice in Bruce's head for a mission.
