Default DC Next Dawn - December Solicits!

We present to you DC Next Dawn, a collection of all new fan-made issues on “sale” this month, DECEMBER 2019!

What is “DC Next Dawn” and how does it work?

Next Dawn, previously known as “New Dawn,” is a fan fiction universe and solicitation game that has been in existence on the CBR boards for approximately ten years! It has gone through several iterations and has survived forum reboots! The way it works is that “plotters” write short solicitations for monthly comic books! Then participants “buy” the books they want to read! The books with the most buys get rewards. Sounds fun, right? So let’s do this! Which of this month's solicits interest and excite you? Let us know by posting which books you'd pick up in the virtual Next Dawn Store (this solicitation thread). You can pull as many as you'd like, but also consider your "virtual budget" when making your selections, as sales are used to reward our titles and plotters. Registers are open all month and sales are tallied at the end of the month.

Absolutely anyone can make purchases right here in this thread - so please do!. It’s free and is basically just saying “I’d read this” or “I like this!” So let us know!

If you want more information on Next Dawn or are interested in plotting yourself, please visit us at the Next Dawn Bullpen Thread.

    Behold! Our monthly archive!
This is the repository of our prior work; a compilation of all the monthly solicitation posts since the forum was reset in 2014.

    Plot by EXCITER
    Written by MARK MILLAR
    Art by JOE MADUREIRA
    “A HISTORY OF ULTRA-VIOLENCE”
Like the eye of a hurricane, there is now a lull in Doomsday’s rampage - and it’s thanks to Lobo’s reckless decision to break the Green Lantern’s planetary barricade and engage the monster. As Lobo can’t be killed, the single-minded destroyer Doomsday is trapped in a repetitious loop. He brutally slaughters Lobo, Lobo regenerates, Doomsday brutally slaughters him again, Lobo regenerates again, ad infinitum. This buys the Corps precious time to regroup.
Hal Jordon and John Stewart confront Ganthet, demanding that the Guardians of the Universe declassify all information on Doomsday - and they might not like what they find...
Accessing comprehensive historical records, subject: Doomsday of Krypton.
Entry 1. Green Lantern dispatched to a pre-civilization planet, subsequently designated Krypton, to investigate reports of alleged unlawful experiments. Entry 989. Green Lantern Corps dispatched to Graxos IV to facilitate evacuation and containment. Doomsday escaped and is ravaging the world’s primitive elf-like inhabitants. Can the lanterns work with the native Rrab family to prevent a genocide?
Entry 5789.All lanterns, alpha priority recall to Oa. Doomsday has reached the Green Lantern’s planetary HQ at the center of the universe - and not even the Guardians may be able to stop him...

LEGENDS OF THE DC MULTIVERSE #5
    Plotted by Clark_Kent
    Written by Grant Morrison
    Art by Kenneth Rocafort
"Vicki the Vampire Slayer", Part 1
The Supermen find themselves on Earth 4, a nightmarish world overrun with the undead. Through an internet hack, Henshaw gleams some information on what happened here. Years ago, the legendary Vampire Dracula made his way to Gotham City. He was eventually defeated, but not before turning the Batman into a true creature of the night.
As time went on and he lost more and more control, Batman eventually fed on his foes. First it was Penguin. Then Dent. Eventually, The Joker, too, was fed upon...and that's when Batman changed. No longer content with feeding on villains, Batman turned on the innocent people he swore to protect. His bloodlust unsatiable. Eventually, even the Justice League fell to his newfound power...Wonder Woman came to him in what she thought was a dream, unable to resist his charms. He ate from Superman while he slept, and proceeded to murder the woman who slept beside the Man of Steel. With their help, the rest of the League was easy. Dubbing themselves The Justice Masters, they rule the world with fear...and eat when they are hungry. And for sport.
Internet posts talk about a rumor. A rumor of an order of slayers, few in number, who stalk the vampires around the world. Though no one knows who the Gotham Slayer is, they know she is out there, fighting the good fight. Henshaw also discovers this vampire Superman, once powered by the Sun, now requires moonlight for energy...he still roams "Necropolis", and there's a full moon tonight. Henshaw records the data in his memory banks. He speaks to the others: "we must go to Gotham."

Bruised and battered after their battle with China White and her lackeys, Tim and Virgil make a startling discovery. After running the DNA tracker found in P&P against an international database, they get a hit. Deacon Blackfire. The marker appears to be looking for a Blackfire descendant, but to what end.
Meanwhile, the Man in Black distributes 1000s of pills to his dealers to flood the streets with. Even with the warehouse destroyed and those nosy heroes snooping around, there's still more than enough pills to accomplish his goal. And with Roland Daggette bankrolling the entire operation, a new base of operations will soon be established.
In a secure location, China White recruits a new member, Fright. Her scientific background as well as her powers make her an interesting asset to the Blackfire Cult. And she comes cheap, her price, to be the one to kill Red Robin.
From the diary of Stephanie Brown - December 20XX
It was great patrolling again, until we had to battle China White and her goons. We don’t know how many people may have been injured in the explosion. The cops are keeping things super quiet. And Tim, Tim has now become obsessed with finding out how this is connected to Deacon Blackfire. Before Tim's time as Robin, Bruce won't talk about it, Jason won't, even Dick and Barbara won't talk about it. Who is Deacon Blackfire and why does he scare the fearless Bat-family so much?

If there’s an enemy out there targeting Amazonia? Not their problem.

You've seen them in airports, in parks, on street corners... huddled in rows, heads shaved, robed in black, chanting in unison: "Let go of love... Embrace hate... Darkseid is... Judge others.... Enslave others... Darkseid is... Everything ends, nothing begins... Anti-Life justifies our hatred.... DARKSEID IS." You probably know them as the “Izzies.” They call themselves The Apokoliptians. By whatever name, they're the fastest growing new religion in the world, thanks in part to Kyle Mason, the biggest actor in Hollywood and the most famous advocate of Apokoliptism. And now that includes a new mandate: to help search for the Anti-Life Equation, which is tough because no one seems able to tell him exactly what it is – not even his master Darkseid, the nihilistic god-emperor of the hell-planet Apokolips. But Darkseid wants it anyway, and he'll stop at nothing to get it. Which means Kyle can stop at nothing. As if the normal life of a superstar weren't stressful enough.

Holiday Hell Part 1 of 2
“We regret to inform you that the 23rd young person, a student at UC Berkeley, has died in the last 3 months. While the toxicology report has not returned, there’s little doubt that the new street drug, P&P, was involved.” – Part of a press conference from Captain Renee Montoya
As soon as Captain Montoya started with the OPD, the new drug P&P hit the streets. Initially thought to be a harmless pleasure drug, akin to Ecstasy, the people of Oakland quickly found out that the drug is deadly. The drug is highly addictive, so much so that as soon as an hour after the high has worn off, users experience intense pain. Though timing varies, if the user doesn’t get another hit of the drug, the users go into shock and eventually dies. So far, no one has made it to the hospital in time to see if there is a cure. Who would develop such a drug and why sell it to young people? Captain Montoya aims to find out and she’s not alone.
Lex is also aware of what’s going on with P&P and he doesn’t like it. It’s one thing to be a criminal, but drugs are an arena he never ventured into. After consulting with Edge, Catwoman, The Calculator, and Deathstroke, it is decided to hire someone to covertly find out the source of P&P. Someone with a reputation for results. Enter the Black Manta!

    "...And a Psycho-Parrot in a Pear Tree"
    Written by Rainbow Rowell
    Plot by H-E-D
    Art by Kris Anka
Back by popular demand, the breakout star of the 2019 Halloween special is back!
Psycho-Pirate is still locked up, but Psycho-Parrot has just been released — and just in time for the twelve days of Christmas.
Without the Medusa Mask’s influence, she might not be evil — but she’s still plenty chaotic!
Watch Psycho-Parrot as she stumbles through the holidays, spreading cheer and mayhem in equal measure.

    “A CHAOS CAROL”
    Plot by EXCITER
    Written by ROBERT KIRKMAN
    Art by FRANK CHO
Somewhere in the dark multiverse, Ebenezer Scrooge became a twisted monster: Ebenezer Scourge! The miserly fiend seeks to decrease the surplus population this Christmas, for what right have billions of people to be merry? The spirit of his partner in life, Jacob Marley, foresaw that only three heroes from different timelines could prevent this global humbuggary:
The hero of Christmas past: from the age of sorcery and elves, the wandering barbarian Valcan of Pytharia - better known as Claw the Unconquered!
The hero of Christmas present: the green man from the red world, J'onn J'onzz the Martian Manhunter!
The hero of Christmas future: the self-proclaimed greatest gift from the 25th century, Booster Gold!
But can even these three stop Ebenezer Scourge, or will he reduce them to little more than an undigested bit of beef?

“Do They Know It’s Christmas?” featuring the Question
    Plotter: CaptCleghorn
    Writer MARK RUSSELL
    Artist BILL SIENKIEWICZ
It’s Christmas and as is the usual for all too many Hub City kids, nothing will be in their stocking. If, of course, the kids even have stockings. This year though, Vic Sage is out to improve the lives of Hub City youth by supplying the Hub City school system with electronic tablets. Vic is, of course, working at the behest of Vicki Vale and both are looking for a good news story to make national headlines. However that would be an expensive gift and capable donors are few and far between. Will the donor be Billionaire Steve Dayton? Could media magnate Lee Travis be convinced to help these kids? Perhaps the Pemberton Industries family fortune could be put to good use?
Although since it’s a Hub City story, happy endings are rare. “What did you get for Christmas?” “Homework. I got Homework.”

Bethlehem – 2,000 years ago – In a humble stable, a babe is born to poor parents, far from home. He is benchpressing cows before the night is spent, and his name is Orion. Not far away, shepherds tending their flocks in a field by night hear a voice from the sky and are slaughtered by parademons. Three visitors come seeking the child – his hairy, ape-like half-brother, a white-haired old woman with a maniacal grin, and a redheaded preacher of fire and brimstone. They carry rich gifts from faraway lands, including tiny, singing boxes of great cosmic power. They are messengers of Darkseid, the father of Orion, who genetically engineered the baby from his own seed and planted him in an unsuspecting virgin mother of Earth in the first step of his plan for conquest. But now Darkseid has learned of a new prophecy, that this very child will one day destroy him. So all Bethlehem is about to become a battleground.

Kyaa, there is it! For a moment I thought it was “cancelled”! I’ll add Red X #5 to my pull list as well.

BAT-WING #5 (I assume there are bats in Africa, right?)
DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE #5 (That Hamilton is quite a pip, isn't he? What will that scamp do next?)
DEADLY HANDS OF CONNOR HAWKE #5 ("Kilroy is Koming!" The title is yours to use, happy holidays!)
THE FLASH #5 (OK, there are gorillas and cheetahs in Africa. I do know that.)
GREEN LANTERN #5 (Lobo vs Doomsday is a truly elegant solution to the problem.)
LEGENDS OF THE DC MULTIVERSE #5 (Go to Gotham? Someone isn't using the latest vacation app.)
THE PROTECTORS #4 (China White? Man in Black? This is one of them theme things isn;t it?)
THE QUESTION #5 (Vic getting his ass kicked is an inelegant solution.)
RED X #5 ("xenothium-wielding" is so cool. I don't even need to know anything else.)
SENSATION COMICS #5 (Your ex changing their name is never a good sign.)
…SAME AS THE OLD GODS #1 (An interesting take on this Darkseid character.)
SWAMP THING: SEA OF GREEN #4 (Nice mix of human and supernatural threats here.)
VILLAINS UNITED #5 (Fighting a greater darkness. I get it.)
NEXT DAWN HOLIDAY SPECIAL #1! (Well, yeah. Maybe I'll finally be able to digest that bit of beef. Oh, and a note to my wife, how much is left on the debit card? I went and bought everything again. No, I don't have a problem!)

Thanks! I was hoping it would connect with someone. I just hope I can manage to take it somewhere worthwhile.

    My purchases:

    BAT-WING
    LEGENDS OF THE MULTIVERSE
    SAME AS THE OLD GODS
    SENSATION COMICS
    SWAMP THING: SEA OF GREEN
    VILLAINS UNITED
NEXT DAWN HOLIDAY SPECIAL - This thing sounds almost unbearably entertaining. Why can't the real DC come up with a bunch of stories this fun?
