First, this depends a little on the Destroyer's controller, buuuuuuut...

Goku has such an insane speed edge that the Destroyer is never going to hit him. So even if SSJ2 can't hurt the thing (and, given how SSJ multipliers theoretically work, AND given how strong base Goku is now compared to when he first touched SSJ2, SSJ2 ought to be able to trivially annihilate the thing) Goku can just step it up to any of the 3 or 4 distinct, massive power-ups he has on the table from there.

It is specifically DBZ era Goku though. So he's only got one power-up beyond SSJ2.

Meh. Your choice. I generally make these threads with anime in mind, but it's cool either way.

Wow, I totally missed that. D'oh.

Yeah, that changes the answer a bit, but not by much. I would guess that maxed out SSJ2 or SSJ3, from that time-frame, are somewhere in or over the "solar-system-busting" kinds of oomph. And the speed edge is real. So the result might take a tiny bit longer, but it's just as inevitable. Speed still kills, as long as one can scratch the paint of the target. And I'd say Goku probably can.

I disagree. The Destroyer was built to fight Celestials. It may have lost to them but it took multiple celestials attacking at once to destroy it. I don't think Goku even at ssj3 is capable of putting out that amount of Damage. The Destroyer may not be able to hurt Goku but I'm not sure on that one myself. The disintegration beam if it catches him may do some damage, but the speed advantage makes it catching him problematic at best. It may end up a draw until Goku finally runs out of energy. At that point Goku loses.

That was a massively amped up version of the Destroyer armor inhabited by Odin and all of Asgard minus Thor. Also it did terribly against the Celestials.

With that said, I wouldn't really see solar system busting scratching the paint on the Destroyer armor generally. The suit has had its own energy attacks turned back on it and they've ultimately done nothing to the armor itself. Energy output wise it can cut Mjolnir in half and all.

And I wouldn't really argue against that point either.

Destroyer is in a weird realm where it is either totally useless - but that's against multi-galaxy-buster types - or completely un-hurtable, but that's generally against class 100 types.

Where, exactly, it is in the middle is complicated. If you go by the origin, of course, it's a shell Odin designed to let him face the Celestials. It failed, but this is multi-galaxy-buster Odin who built and enchanted it. If it couldn't take more physical punishment than Odin, why bother building it?

I wouldn't go so far as to call it more durable than Odin as far as what we've seen it do, just that busting a solar system shouldn't really mean anything to it.

Oh I agree - based on feats, it's got nothing even approaching old one-eye's chops. Buuuuuut... it doesn't really have "ignores solar-system-busting shots" either, simply because that niche level isn't generally the powerset of anyone it faces. Hell, it MOSTLY fights Thor.

Like I say, it has had its own blasts turned back on itself. The armor was fine afterwards. Said blasts have the power to casually waste Mjolnir, as it were. Just chop it straight in half.

SSJ2 can defintely not bust a solar system. They aren't on that level based on anything in the manga. SSJ3 would be the bear minimum and even that's a stretch. Anime versions could do it though.

I have no idea where to place DBZ power levels anymore, especially because Super seems to have retroactively boosted the power scale and the manga and anime of that series have confusing interactions with the manga and anime of the previous season.

The problem with that is the typical DB scaling problem. Roshi and Piccolo, in DB and in the beginning of Z, were capable of pretty casually wasting the moon.

Frieza, in his first form, was capable of trivially blowing up a planet. That form is at least 8 times weaker than his Final Form (and 16 times weaker than FP), "I just barely learned how to SSJ by accident" Goku was stronger than that.

Beginning of Android Saga Goku and Vegeta were presumably stronger that that level by some degree. And they were both, what, 5x stronger? 10x stronger? in SSJ1, by the end of the Android saga after all of the HTC time. Vegeta, being the clearest example, went from "18's bitch" to "trivially pimp-slapping SP Cell" in a day in his first session.

Gohan hit SSJ2 and was significantly stronger than Goku and Vegeta at the end of that saga.

Years of constant training went by. Goku and Vegeta SIGNIFICANTLY surpassed Gohan by the Buu saga. Gohan slacked... that's his MO...

Yeah, I'm having trouble seeing how SSJ2 by the end of Z doesn't equal solar-system-buster levels, given how much multiplication is involved there.

Whether or not that craters the Destroyer is another story.
