Default Does Doomsday Clock explain the Superman split?

    Doomsday Clock SPOILERS

It just occurred to me that the Metaverse reveal at the end of DDC might finally explain the whole 'two' Supermen situation from Convergence/Superman Reborn.

    Here goes-

    1. Pre-Flashpoint Superman and Lois exist on Earth 0.

    2. Doc Manhattan's tampering alters Earth 0. Pre-Flashpoint Superman and Lois become New 52 Superman and Lois.

    3. As a result of Manhattan's tampering, a new parallel earth is created to 'preserve' the Pre-Flashpoint continuity. Pre-FP Superman and Lois continue their lives on this earth.

    4. During Convergence, Brainiac grabs the Metropolis from this parallel earth, including Pre-FP Superman and Lois. During their time imprisoned in the bottle city, Jon is conceived and born. Post-Convergence, Pre-FP Superman and Lois end up on Earth 0 and raise Jon there.

    5. New 52 Superman and Lois die, and the Pre-FP versions take their place.

    6. The essence of the New 52 Superman and Lois 'merge' with the Pre-FP Superman and Lois. This alters the history of Earth 0, restoring its earlier Pre-FP configuration to a large extent.

So basically, the 'split' of Superman into two was caused by Manhattan simply because Manhattan tampering with Earth 0's history caused the creation of a parallel earth that preserved the earlier version of Superman. Pre-FP Superman, despite being from a parallel universe, was essentially a previous timeline version of New 52 Superman - thus he was able to be 're-incorporated' into Earth 0 history, becoming Reborn Superman.

No offense, but why did you add in FC rather than FP and DDC rather just DC?

Also, swell of you to bring up the whole Doomsday Clock/Convergence/Doctor Manhattan/Pre-Flashpoint stuff for others to see and possibly get.

It's really weird that within the same author it is easier to say how things don't line up than trying to make sense of it. You did as well as maybe anyone, although one small thing is that Pre FP Superman was pulled from Gotham, not Metropolis.

So "merging" the pre-FP Superman & Lois with the spirits of the deceased Superman & Lois, an event that took place in the post-FP universe, somehow restored the (missing) Superman and Lois over in the pre-FP universe? So instead of changes to Superman just forking off new universes, these changes in one universe nevertheless have effects in all those previous universes that have already been forked off by previous changes?

This explaination works as well as any.
When it comes to comics, one person's "fan-service" is another persons personal cannon. So by definition it's ALL fan service. Aren't we ALL fans?
SUPERMAN is the greatest fictional character ever created.

You should have removed the question mark. I thought you were asking the question. But, other than that you broke it down clearly.
Edit:- shouldn't this be part of the oz thread?

No because it's not about oz. Who I guess lives on as part of the New 52 earth? I wish Johns sat down with Morrison, Tomasi, Jurgens, and at least two editors when he was mapping this out.

Considering the publisher is called DC and DC could also mean Detective Comics (hence why that book's usual shorthand name is Tec instead), it's understandable that DDC would be used for Doomsday Clock.

I assume FC was just a typo, since that one has been corrected.
