Default Att Sells Crunchyroll to Sony

    https://techcrunch.com/2020/12/10/at...yroll-to-sony/

After the HBO Max announcement recently regarding 2021 theatrical releases streaming on the app its clear as day ATT is behind all the chaos and looks to be having buyers regret because they don't know what they are doing.

AT&T gonna pay off their debt somehow. Anime was too niche for them to want to hold on to. Sony already owned Aniplex so this is within their wheelhouse.

And it's laughable because a deal that shouldn't have legally happened blew up in their face. Priceless!

Also isn't the purpose of these streaming wars to get as much content as possible to capture as many subscribers as possible?

It's crazy how some of these deals are happening when we have laws that are supposed to prevent monopolies.

I can't see how VRV can continue now as a subscription service with no Crunchyroll.

Nobody's paying for for access to Cartoon Hangover Curiosity Stream, Rooster Teeth and Nerdist by themselves.

ATT is looking desperate to have any money come in because these moves just don't make any real sense otherwise. Why would they risk being blacklisted in Hollywood especially with the enormous amount of competition the streaming wars has created and Hollywood can/will boycott. I bet ATT sells all of WarnerMedia (most likely in pieces). Warner is about to be a shell of itself before its all said and done.

Well it's hard to do that when YOU (AT&T) are giving HBO Max to folks who upgrade their internet service.

They offered me the $90 plan for $50 for year 1 and HBO Max free. Then pay WHATEVER the price is in 2022.

Maybe they need to stop making new content that is not already contracted.

No new movie over a certain budget?

Start looking at what can be tossed on a dvd set and put in a store. X-Men Evolution never got a series set.

In agreement with you about X-Men: Evolution. The fourth & final season is the only one missing from my collection. T^T

This also begs the question on how many of the 12.6 million subscribers actually pay a monthly fee and how many have it because it was bundled as part of another product. If the bundles are being counted than realistically HBO Max has very few real signups.

Home video is a niche market now. That will be pocket change at best.
