Honestly, I think they're being used disproportionately: Important plot points and emotional moments/character reactions are being shoved aside and put here as opposed to on panel where it further enriches the story, while, what we are being shown could easily fill up a whole data page.

    Show don’t tell.

If the story doesn’t work without them, then it’s not fitting for the format of a comic book,
    Imo.

Your favorite superhero- the one you visit these forums to talk about. Would they talk to others the way you do on this message board?

I really like the data pages and I think they are a net boon. I think they are great for expanding on whats going on in the story, setting up future developments, showing notes, diary entries, sinister secrets etc.

That said, I also think the most recent X-Force did mishandle it and used the data pages too much. Major plot developments and character moments should happen on panel not in the data pages.

I enjoy them. They really help with the world building going on, and really enriches Hickman’s X-verse.

I view them as extra goodies but I don't like that it has key plot points because I do ignore them sometimes so I can follow the comic.

I will say that seeing Magneto give Charles the sword that was his former helmet would have been an amazing scene. Still overall I am a big fan.

i enjoy them. the ones in xforce would have taken multiple pages to tell the story, but they were able to compress everything to one page.

anyways, its better than rosenbergs uncanny/disassembled where something wasnt revealed this issue because of lack of space, then it shows up on the recap text of the next issue, expecting us to jus roll along with it.

Agreed. Even the scene of Charles laying down, staring above at the sword pointed at his head with no dialogue would’ve been a powerful moment.

Like everything else, it depends on execution. For the most part, though, I like them and think they're a good way to cut down on exposition and talking heads scenes.

It really depends on the content. Part of me would rather see reactions from the antagonists on panel vs a description in a paragraph, but most of what I’ve read has been informative.

I'm really on the fence about them. Back in the day, everything in a data page could actually be shown on one page. These days, data pages may fight against story decompression if a single data page would otherwise require several pages to draw.
