Wait..., we're finally getting to the point of all this in the last issue?

In the ever-memetic words of M. Bison from Street Fighter: "Of course!"
That said, I do like that Miguel is the most important piece in this new version of 2099. As Spider-Man is the lynchpin of Marvel, so, too, should his various counterparts in media and other universes follow.
The spider is always on the hunt.
I just want to know what this was even about because as it stands;
- In 2019 in an attempted assassination by the Chameleon via D grade villain shooting a Doombot, Doctor Doom throws a fit demanding that the assassin be brought to him.
- Then after Doom's own book (because this event has to be set before Doctor Doom #1) Doom is confronted by Reed Richards for something we aren't made aware of that is bringing all the forces of the world to his doorstep. Reed then goes missing in the time stream.
- Despite this as seen in the Alpha issue, apparently there was a hero versus hero conflict that included Mr. Fantastic which caused Doom to wipe away their existence via unknown means.

Wonder what Miguel is that old man.
This 2099 resurgence has just seemed too convoluted and unnecessary (in some respects) for it's own good.
Marvel did a poor job communicating in the checklist that the main story was all of Spencer's stuff. If I wasn't so impressed by the Alpha I wouldn't have gotten Spider-Man, which leads directly into this.

This wasn't a story that needed to be told, to be honest. Like, at all.
