Question Top ten films of the decade? Since it's almost over...

I noticed a lot of websites were doing this, and it actually seems kind of anticlimactic that were going into the 2020's so soon, but I thought it might be more interesting to see what everyones top ten movies of the past ten years are.

    To jog your memory:
    https://theplaylist.net/best-100-fil...010s-20191202/
    https://www.vulture.com/2019/12/ever...d-sort-of.html
    https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/li...decade-1260056
    https://www.imdb.com/chart/top/?sort...=simple&page=1
    https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/24/m...0s-decade.html

I looked at all the movies on the websites and really the only ones that to me personally stand out is mad max and manchester by the sea.

Don't we have another year left in decade (2011-20)?

Nope. While it makes sense, it's not how we measure decades.

There is no we in this case. No agreement to which is true has even been reached.

Most of the time when people do decades they go 0-9.

Reason being, they aren't going to say the year 1990 is part of the 80's or 2000 is part of the 90's. So most decade lists go 0-9 instead of 1-0

Historians measure 1-10, but it seems commonplace to measure 0-9 for decades now.

I write for a living, and none of us have been tasked with a "best of a decade" list or some such yet, so I kinda wonder if people really care or if that was a 1999/2000s thing? Maybe everybody forgot?

I remember everyone arguing in the bullpen about in 99 and 2009. Nothing yet.

I don't feel like stirring the pot and sorry I did that here!

No particular order of preference, just how they come to me:

    1. Evangelion 3.0: You Can (Not) Redo
    2. Django Unchained
    3. The Witch
    4. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
    5. Suspiria
    6. Mad Max: Fury Road
    7. The Lighthouse
    8. Midsommar
    9. Annihilation
    10. Black Swan

Ah yes, strict usage, "Isn't it true?" versus popular usage, "Ain't it true?"

According to proper or strict usage, the 20th century was January 1, 1901 to December 31, 2000. But everyone was celebrating the New century on December 31, 1999. December 31, 2000 at midnight, when the 21st century really began, was treated as just another New Years. Heck, a hundred years earlier, in "The Time Machine", H.G. Wells presented the beginning of the 20th century as being at midnight, January 1, 1900. So even people like that just went with it.

So, anyway, I know I'll forget stuff but, favorite movies of 2011-2020 with 202o yet to be seen (and I say favorites because that's all these things ever are, not best) in no particular order:

    Captain America the First Avenger
    Cowboys and Aliens
    Avengers
    John Carter
    Dark Knight Rises
    Brave
    Hotel Translvania
    Frozen
    Iron-Man 3
    About Time
    Guardians of the Galaxy
    Captain America Winter Soldier
    Birdman
    The Man from Uncle
    Moana
    Captain America Civil War
    Rogue One
    Wonder Woman
    Mary Poppins Returns
    Avengers Infinity War
    Black Panther
    Incredibles 2
    Avengers Endgame
    The Lion King

From that last, a top ten?

    Not necessarily in order:

    Birdman
    Brave
    Hotel Translvania
    Wonder Woman
    Mary Poppins Returns
    Incredibles 2
    The Lion King
    About Time
    Moana
    Frozen

Strangely, I put Birdman on top as the best of the lot yet it's the one of those ten I least want to see again and probably will never watch again except for the awesome flight scene which I loved because it sort of gave a feeling of well, flying, as opposed to superhero movies where people take off like a rocket and there's no sense of the wonder of flight.

Yeah I actually agree with you. Logically it makes sense to count 2010 as 1, it feels right to rank 2011-2020.

After seeing some others mentioned I remembered some others that I liked:

    1.Mad Max
    2.Manchester by the Sea
    3.Blade Runner 2049
    4.Inside Out
    5.Toy Story 3 (Did not like 4)
    6.The Revenant
    7.Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri
    8.Warrior(under rated Tom Hardy movie)
    9.13 Assassins
    10.Drug War

    Still got to see:
    Parasite
    Your Name
    Moonlight
    Whiplash
    The Favourite
    The Farewell
    Shoplifters
    First Reformed
    Joker
    Enemy
    Uncut Gems

And honestly if it wasn't for the ending, Game of Thrones probably had the largest impact on me then any film or tv show within the last ten years.

Can't list 10 but Jurassic World (2015) was my favorite of the decade.
