Jack Black was one of the EARLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY rumors to play Hal Jordan in what would have been 2011 Green Lantern movie.

    I mean rumors around 2000.

Oh I definitely remember. The idea is even more appalling today than it was 20 yrs ago!

Hal was my favourite childhood superhero growing up so I hope they pick him....if they do I will tune in religiously.

It will probably be John Stewart though. That would be my best guest.

It would be neat if it was Kyle Raynor, and absolutely hilarious if they picked Guy Gardner!!! (That for sure would have the highest comedic value)

Who knows they could even go with Jessica.

Lol that is awesome! I love it, the show will be hilarious!

Wittrock’s Guy Gardner/Green Lantern is a hulking mass of masculinity, and, as rendered in the comics, an embodiment of 1980s hyper-patriotism. And yet, Guy is somehow likable.

If he's going to be alpha cliche, I hope it's an ironic take on it

Why? He can be an Alpha and be heroic and likable.

It's hard for me to buy "alpha" and likeable.

Not for me. While they weren't anything like Guy the men I've known to have those traits were cool people.

Oh, I assume "alpha" means "bullish toxic male"

Plus all that alpha-beta stuff was disproven anyway

Describing certain men as "alphas" is almost never helpful or appealing, at least when they know they come across as alphas and behave as such. Guy has an obnoxious personality and part of his appeal is his "jerk with a heart of gold" tendencies buried beneath it. It's a balancing act, and if he ends up likable it's usually in spite of his boorish tendencies, not necessary because of them on their own, and how he becomes more of a heroic and better person (with still a touch of a jerk-ish edge).

Men who describe themselves or behave as "alphas" aren't actually real men, they are just jerks (at best). Within the DC universe, we have examples from the WW corner of Heracles, Zeus and Ares for entitled brutish alpha man-children. While we also have Superman (on his better written days) who is very powerful and masculine, a leader to the superhero community, who doesn't behave in an entitled toxic manner because he has nothing to prove and isn't an ******* and stuff like him trouncing the JL in Snyder's movie is actually an unnecessary step back for him.,

No. An Alpha is a man who got their **** together, know their purpose, is dependable/reliable and has gain enough respect among their peers that their leadership can be trusted. I can call Superman an alpha and he doesn't show any the negative traits some people would want to associate with it. Some can be jerks but if you know your value I don't see why not.
