I suspect that the movie will probably inspire other people to try similar projects. However, I don't think it's a game-changer; people were saying similar things about Logan, and, as we've seen, the comic book movie industry is still plugging along as it did before. If filmmakers want to change the industry, it's going to take a lot of Logans and Jokers to see it happen and they's going to have to do a good job to make it stick.

Not really, there isn't anything Joker did that The Dark Knight Trilogy didn't do. Those films made over a billion dollars without China too, they had a darker tone, grounded tone and they adopted a more cinematic approach to their film making. This is why Zach Snyder was chosen to do MoS.

I am hoping that JOKER will inspire the film studios to focus on story, rather than spectacle, within a reasonable budget.
